Logitech

There are many laptop stands available on the market, and Ive recently ordered an updated Penryn MBP 15" (very excited :p) and they all look cool to me, wanted to hear from current owners of iLaps, iCurves, as well as others, which ones do they like/dislike and why? I do want to get one which will enable me to use it comfortably w/o bending my wrists in some awkward position. Some points to consider, it probably will be spending most of the time on the desk hooked up to two external lcds (migrating from Win to OSX finally) so it will probably will be standing a bit to my left not to block the main 24" which is in the center, I will have a wireless keyboard most likely and a bluetooth mouse to control it, but will use the laptop screen as well (it wont stay closed as some people prefer) I want to utilize all 3 screens. Since it will be on 24/7, I think the stand will help it to stay cooler. Thanks in advance and I hope this all makes sense to you guys. :D

I have the Logitech Alto cordless for work. I love it. It folds down so I can stow it and is the perfect height. Doesn't come with a mouse though, just a keyboard. It has extra USB ports on it and can be used plugged in or on the battery.

mStand with external keyboard and mouse

You have to be careful with the tilted stands without a hardware lip to hold the laptop, as the sticky stuff will lose traction over time. mStand has a lip.

i wish i had a nice external monitor as mine i am using less and less because of the color distortion and how it hurts my eyes. and for photos its annoying because will the real color is blue it could be green gray purple or other colors depending on where it is :(

I just got the iLap for my new MBP and it's great for sitting on the couch or in bed. You can remove the front cushion and place the stand on the desk but I mostly use my MBP in my lap so it's perfect.

The only downside is the price.

Thanks everyone for their input, keep'em coming, also if possible can somebody post their pic of iLap on the desk?

Not so handy when you want to nip off for a pee !

I felt claustrophobic just looking at it; like working in a cage. I guess it would be good for some people though :)

I have the Elevator. Very nice clearance. The space fits perfect a WD MyBook drive or a Mac Mini. I'm talking a millimeter clearance on the sides nice fit.

I have a Launchpad from 604 Labs (http://www.604labs.com)

It's like the iLap, but my laptop fits inside it which means that I can take it with me when I travel. It also provides some extra protection in my bag.

Another vote for the mstand. Very stylish and used in conjunction with MBP and 2407 Dell monitor

you could always go with the updated stand :)

i made it so the keyboard and mouse could fit underneath it.
its a very heavy stand and does not move.

I loves me my iCurve. Puts the top edge of the MBP 15's screen at exactly the height of my LG 20" Widescreen TFT. Sorted. :)

the ilap i ordered came with 4 rubber things. My questions is does that go on the botom of the laptop or on the ilap??? please help

because i saw a site of another company and they were selling the rubbery thing and they had it on the macbook.

I guess it really depends on what you are looking for.
Portability or just as a desktop placement.

I came along this thread because I just got a mbp and was looking for a pad to keep it cool.

For Portable:
- ilap is not very portable. It's huge. and clumsy looking.
- http://www.604labs.com/ this looks ideal for transportation but look at the back of the piece where it sits on your lap. It's an edge, that's gotta be uncomfortable after a while.
- I've used a Targus coolpad for my pc and it's been the best so far. Simple and easy. It is a slight bit heavy and doesn't look all that pretty but it's been the most comfortable and portable. I can't seem to find them anymore since compusa ran out of business here in Cali. There's a white one to match the mac...but i think i'll just stick to the black.

Be sure you dont get one that blocks the front of the computer, makes it hard to use cds/dvds.

I use a MacAlly IceStation which was great on my PowerbookG4 12 inch which had the dvd reader on the side, but its not that great on a MBP with DVD in front

Is it still possible to get that white keyboard but wireless osmewhere? I dont like the new wireless keyboard, I hear its the sUx.

Edit: New condition, not used.

eBay... the moment there were rumours of a new keyboard I ran to the Apple Store and picked up the old-school wireless one :D

I'm using the griffin Elevator and its excellent. It's improved my neck no end since installing it.

I've also had a iLap before for my 12in powerbook. Its nice but only really useful if you use your laptop on your lap a lot. It's not in the same league as the elevator for desk use.

I'm using the first revision of the mStand and I bitched about the lack of space for opening the latch in a review. Seems like they got the hint.
