Let me start by start by saying I always like my text size as small as possible on my phone- I like fitting the most content possible on the screen.

That being said, I feel like the app icons themselves on the homescreen feel more blown up (like how my grandma has her setting) on the XS Max. And yes I have Standard Zoom display on, not the larger one. I had the 7 Plus prior and the app icon sizes felt smaller on that device.

Does anyone else feel the same or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

do you get MORE or the same amount of icons on the XS MAX as you do a PLUS model?
just curious. I was thinking they'd fit another row but I don't think they did...

This is the problem, I really like my XS Max but the UI is really dated.

Imagine having Nova on this thing! That would be sensational.

I’d like:

- Ability to have more apps on the dock, with the ability to scroll continuously
- more rows for apps
- full control of the grid layout
- edge panel support
- ability to have time and weather on my home/lock screen and having the option to place wherever I like

Just the above alone would be mind blowing for iOS and make these devices really pull ahead.

totally the same thoughts i had when comparing the max to my 7 plus!!! dont like it!!

I wish they would’ve optimized iOS for the max. Hopefully iOS 13

Not only more icons, but also the dock really needs to be able to hold more icons. I absolutely love how the dock works on my ipad mini.

Not to beat a dead horse (too late!) but your wants are one of the (many) reasons I jailbreak…

Wasn’t the rumor that Apple had planned to overhaul the design of iOS before putting that on the back burner in order to make iOS 12 better performance wise? Maybe the redesign they had planned had a better design in mind for the 6.5” screen but we’ll see that next year.

Looks fab!

I like the Samsung phones but they are not fully polished but the customisation is out of this world.

I do hope that Apple introduce some decent customisation options in iOS 13.

We have the performance and stability now let’s open this baby up.

It’s like having a V12 but restricted to 30mph

you can't jailbrake an iphone max as its running ios 12.

either way its funny that you must jailbreak in order to have something as simple as the ability to change the home screen grid size....
Yeah, you can't jailbreak the Max. At least not yet.

But I don't find it funny like you do that Apple prevents us from changing the gridsize when stock. I mean, if Apple let you do that then that would remove another reason for jailbreaking.

Not on the home screen. In Safari, yes and other apps, yes but not the home screen.

Since you're saying if the screen size increases it should scale up proportionately, that means this XS Max should have the same amount of rows as the original iPhone..

I also hope this is not true and will be addressed in a future update. The Xs Max screen needs to have the same size icons and text as the regular Xs but with more screen real estate, not simply blow the entire UI up and call it a day. I don't want my xs Max's UI to resemble some sort of kids theme where things are just bigger without putting any thought into it.

They really need to add dark mode like they did in Mac OS Mojave, include walky talky app for iPhone/iPad as well, and optimize the UI specifically for the Xs Max's bigger screen.

I 100% agree with all of this. It's bizarre because when I have Safari open, I LOVE the screen size. When I have iMessage open, I LOVE the screen size. But when I go to the home screen, a little part of me dies haha
