Well, the more choice for the end user, the better.
However I can't see the appeal of a 15" in an air, given how its small footprint is among its best features.
If they redesign the computers as the renders suggested, I'll definitely get one.

This is a terrific segment they're not serving right now. Just a bigger screen, not a lot of power needed.

I might be in a minority on this one but I would also like a MacBook (the small one from 2015-17) sized Air. If they're going to sell bigger it might free them up to also sell smaller. If the bezels were pushed out it would still be 13" !!

The Air is really now the default MacBook, size is probably the middle of the desired bell curve. It doesn't serve people who don't want to pay a performance premium just for a larger screen.

I just looked at laptop sizes. It turns out you can fit a 13" screen into the chassis the size of the 2015-17 MacBook.

You can fit 14" into the size of the current MBA and 13'' MBP

A 15" screen laptop would be not quite an inch wider and about 2/3" deeper.

Wonder if it has anything to do with the soon-to-be-refreshed Surface Laptop and its choice of screen size. I had to buy one for my tax software and the 15 is light years easier to work on than the smaller version.
There are a large number of basic 15” windows laptops out there. It is a popular size for people who don’t need the portability of a 13” but want a little more screen space and yet are not prepared to spend $2500 on a laptop. Most customers don’t need the power of the MBPs but would like a little more workspace.

Completely makes sense... A lineup similar to this would be nice...

~ $999 13” MBA (M1 maybe even $899, then back to $999 with M2)
~ $1299 13” MacBook in new form factor (rumored to be MBA refresh) using M2
~ $1499 15” MacBook in new form factor (rumored to be MBA refresh) using M2
~ $1999 14” MBP
~ $2299 16” MBP

Nah, a 12.9" 2LB MacBook is the dream machine. The 16.2" is nice at home or office. I'd have both. But as a basic single laptop, yes a 15" 3LB would probably suit many people. I had two 12" MacBooks and it was fantastic for work travel. I swore I'd always have one. 2LB and no more

This would be perfect for my parents (68/70yo) who want to be on the Apple ecosystem but need a bigger screen and don't need to spend $2700+tax for a 16" with 1tb (lots of photos).

10 cores is way way overkill for them, and even mini-LED/etc.

The current Air has several popular features. Small size is one. Low price is another. Lots of people want a reasonably priced laptop (the 16” being too expensive for them) but don’t need the performance of the MBPs and don’t need the portability of the 13” Air. A “mama bear” 15” laptop would be just right for them.

Apple, we will welcome 15" Macbook Air but first please make 14.1" Macbook Air like 14.1" Macbook Pro. IMO, not advisable to make larger sized thin laptop/s like 15",16" Macbook Air and still have excellent durability. Macbook Air suppose to be thin, light, cheaper and still reliable/durable over years of usage.

Price wise you wonder if a 13" MacBook Pro M2 would only be there to show what a good deal the 14" is.

I could only see a 15" Air coming with the same quality screen as the 13" Air - and the same 2 Thunderbolt Ports.

And the presence of the 13" Air would give those buyers the impetus to buy a 15" model if they have the budget for it.

I’m planning to get the 13 inch MacBook Air later this year

I’m hoping that the next version of the MacBook Air includes the M2 chip as well as the redesign

There was an article the other day here on MacRumors about it possibly being released in September

I know that there are many people that prefer to have a larger screen laptop so it’s great that they will now have this option with a potential 15 inch MacBook Air in 2023!
I'll buy the 13" this year as long as the bezels are black. Will never get a white bezel laptop.

But as far as 15" goes.. its an AIR. I thought the point of that moniker was to be small, thin, light?

I think a lot of people, myself included would love to see the return of the 12" macbook with upgraded specs and fixes for things like the keyboard. But I don't think Apple will do it.

That lightness matters to some users but a lot of users are only attracted by the low price compared to MBPs. Presumably a 15” Air would still be lighter than a 16” MBP.

Remember that the iPad Air is not the smallest/lightest iPad and the MacBook Air has not always been the lightest laptop.

I see those Dell XPS 13" and I really dig the size and form factor. I tolerate but don't like Windows, but it doesn't run iMovie or Final Cut Pro. And I will not go back to Intel machines for the forseeable future. I would love for Intel to build a competitive chip - in terms of efficiency, not just sheer power.

I’ve always been so torn on screen size big or small. When using iPhone/iPad/Mac you want the big screen. When on the move you want compact. Would love a 12, 14, 16” range. Both regular fanless and Pro.
