The common sense is starting to go away.... Older iPhones were so much easier to use. 6.9"...
I know and I am worried that at some point in the future I will stop upgrading my iPhone because it's going to be too big for my needs. If I want something bigger than a iPhone I can buy a iPad.

Well it’s still too early to know if this is true or not but I’ll be paying more attention to the 16 rumours than the 15 since I’m quite content with my 14 pro max for another year.

I would rather not have the plus at all! If you want a bigger screen, you probably want a nicer one too. If anyone can afford it, get the Pro Max or Pro, instead of the plus.
Yeah maybe you but most common people chose a large screen at either a low or high price point. That’s why almost all android devices come with large screens and many people pay for the iPhone max although they don’t use most of its features.

It will have to stop growing at some point. I hope.

I am starting to wonder if and when the iPad mini will go away. Even though I miss smaller phones, I loved the size of the 9.7" iPads.

People can have what they want. That is just what I mostly think.

Which bit, that the mini is packed up to the brim as is? Check out the article below or iFixit’s own disassembly videos:

Both the mini and 13 look equally packed. The difference being the larger battery in the 13. I would think every iPhone you open is packed.

I prefer a small phone, and don't really care about the camera, when I want to shoot pictures I use a real camera.

I hope you are right! The size of the iPhone really influences my final purchase decision.

I changed it to "I would expect a landscape home screen when buying a phone." I hope it makes more sense now! I realized it didn't, so thanks for pointing that out. :D

Apple plans to introduce larger 6.3 and 6.9-inch display sizes for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max in 2024, but the change in screen size will be limited to the Pro models. The standard iPhone 16 models are expected to feature the same 6.1 and 6.7-inch display sizes that Apple has used for the last several years.

The information comes from display analyst Ross Young, who often shares accurate insights into Apple's plans. Young earlier this week said that the Pro models will have larger display sizes, and he confirmed to MacRumors that these larger screens will be Pro exclusive and will not be coming to the more affordable iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.

According to Young, the 6.3 and 6.9-inch display sizes are rounded up, with additional information on the specific measurements set to come at the Display Week conference in Los Angeles on May 23.

At approximately 6.3 and 6.9 inches, the planned larger display sizes for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will be the biggest screens that Apple has introduced to date. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max feature 6.1 and 6.7-inch display sizes, which are also the sizes expected for this year's iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

A tweak to the display size suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max could potentially see a design revision, a decrease in bezels, or both.

ROMLAO I'm ☠️!

Anybody else seem to think Apple is doing this ... a) release rumours to catch a consumer consensus vibe and then b) adjust slightly to the majority to c) guarantee highest sales?

🍿🍿 = double butter pop-corn please ;)

Maybe the higher price will start being worth it!
LOL, really?

Back when Apple had values.

Bruh! I'm stealing this as I believe even with the modern iPhone 12 and 13 mini fits JUST IN line with this!!!!

It was a joke, because in 5 years, iPhones might be like $2299 which would be bad.
The prices will definitely increase. The questions is what will happen when Apple will sell less iPhones because it might not justify the selling price for some consumers? People used to buy a new iPhone every year now it's every 2-3 years sometimes 4 years.

No, I don’t think that getting a new phone every year happened too much. Because phone contracts were two years.

Beside the US and the U.K I don't think the iPhone Upgrade Program is available in other countries and the iPhone contracts are very advantageous in the US while in other countries it's better to pay for the iPhone upfront like I do since 2015 onwards. I wish the iPhone Upgrade Program would be available in more countries.

Sorry I missed the sarcasm (/s flag), or emoticon (lol, lmao, roflmao etc) indications :(

What's sad is Google has released an official folding phone in less than 2yrs development, meanwhile Apple cannot seem to get the huge hunk-a-chunk camera BUMP any smaller for over 3yrs +.

Don't want a bigger phone but if it means I can have larger sensors for all the cameras though it maybe worth it.
A valid point!
This is not going to end well. Imagine yoga pants with these babies squeezed into their pockets, LOL...
I’m just going to stop wearing pants! Oh wait…
Apple running out of ways to differentiate between the regular, Plus, Pro and Pro Max iPhones.

I guess this makes the regular iPhone the new mini while the Plus still holds some meaning as it'd be larger than the regular and Pro versions.
They should go with t-shirt sizes. s, m, L, XL, XXL, 2XL, 3XL, 5XL, and “Husky”. ;)
I want a phone that doesn’t weigh too much for the pocket of a pair of gym shorts or sweatpants.

Unfortunately, it appears that Apple is eliminating smaller phones from the line-up.
What’s wrong with just wearing your Apple Watch when you work out?
Apple should just have an iPhone Mini manufactured on demand so I can stop hearing about it in the threads...
Whining about the whiners. Good strategy!
Then passionately tell Apple to continue with smaller ones here. If enough of us do, Apple might fall for it again, as it happened with minis. 😉

Very very VERY passionately. Tell them you’ll love them till end days if they keep making small ones. And say please, people. You attract more bees with honey!
Who needs pants? Just wear the phones. ;)

Phone out front. Tablet around back. Goggle battery utility belt to hold both in the right places.

"I'm Batman" ;)
(As we see an uptick in Batman screen backgrounds)
💰💰💰

Compare prices of old one-handed-use phones to modern 2.5-handed-use phones. ;)

In pretty much all seemingly-illogical or anti-consumer decisions, pursuit of every possible nickel of profit is likely the driver.
“Every possible nickel of profit?” And how is that wrong? Oh wait, did the bad Mr. Cook take some nickels right out of your pockets?
I am torn. I'm feeling pressure to move to the Pro Max for the iPhone 15 due to the expected camera features. I don't really want a phone that large, however. If Apple continues this practice of exclusive features on the Pro Max version for iPhone 16 AND increases the screen size, this creates more problems for me. I don't think I should have to sacrifice features because I don't want a huge phone in my pocket.
Maybe I can help you. Do you think of yourself as an iPhone user who takes pictures? Or do you think of yourself as a photographer who uses an iPhone? The answer should reveal your path forward, my Padawan.
Will there be a turning point when they advertise: „we were able to make the new iPhone (23?) even smaller in size by maintaining and even stretching the telephoto and microscope lenses ranges…“ 😂 hopefully, because I want pro features in a small size (with an iPad at home or in the backpack as needed)
Lens technology has certainly come a long way since the time I was shooting yearbook photos on 35 mm film. But at some point, the physics of light itself will pose a limit.
So they’re alienating people that want pro small phones even further?
You’re so right. Apple just wants to alienate you and all your friends. Bad bad Apple! Bad bad Tim Cook!
While we feel for those this with little hands, we have to agree with you, it doesn’t matter what a topic is about, there will be someone that makes it about a miniature phone. You don’t see us giant people doing this in every topic about how we would like bigger phones.
You should get with all your giant friends and write to the airlines to put more space between the rows. Compared to you, I’m probably a dwarf, but I’ll join you on the airline thing, for sure! You should also write to Mazda and Smart Car and demand that they make giant versions of the Miata and Four-Two. Maybe with V-8 engines and four wheel drive! You should write to Haynes and Fruit of the Loom and tell them your underpants are too tight!

Uhhh…wait, you don’t have to be a giant for that last one to be true. The pinching, oh the pinching!

😏
Be well friends, of all hand sizes. 🤝
I agree. And of all nose sizes, chin sizes, eye sizes, foot sizes, and … wait for it, ego sizes too!
