M2 is for other categories..like macbook airsurely the delay is mini LEDs? why not release Mac mini M1x and iMac M1x now and the Macbookpros when they get enough Mini LEDs?, better hurry up before the M2 come out! ;-)
"Apple simply does not want their devices to compete for attention" Compete for whose attention? Are Apple customers regarded as stupid? Or is Apple too small a company to work on more than product at a time?
that device that is still new but will not support their own operation system windows 11?!Will it still be butt ugly? Surface Studio looks 1000x better...
The iMac did get updated. The version they released this year is definitely the "mainstream" version. I know, we all want the "pro" size with all the faster stuff it's simply not true to say they haven't updated the iMac to Apple Silicon. To think that the iMac, which was iconic and symbolises the Mac spirit, will take so long for an update....
LOL, you make it sound like they just click a few boxes in their design software and hit the "order" button to make the factory start cranking them out. I'm not an industrial designer or a supply chain manager, but I have a feeling it's maybe a little bit more complicated? It's not that hard to simply scale the current 24" up to 32" and introduce some more premium features to it (like 6K screen, even better speakers etc).
These rumors seems a bit ridiculous now.
Just in next years iPhone will have a better camera…
really?
Well, 32" is an existing size utilized by many companies in their screens. Apple is already buying 32" screens from their contractor(s). Surely it's easier for them to deliver more 32" screens, instead of Apple requesting something like 28" or 29" inch screens which are not common in the industry.
23,8" (smaller iMac) is also common in the industry. I just don't see Apple inventing an unconventional screen size for their larger iMac when 32" is ready and available, and likely cheaper to deliver in mass than anything more exotic.
yes, following the approach with the 24" that is in the big sur already, we can speculate that the size will be 30" -32"...Apple will not keep the 27" aspect ratio just for one model. So, its almost clear that 27" will remain for the intel imacs and it will remain a thing of the pastBe very interesting to see what size screen they go with. 27" / 30" / 32"? They would need to change the aspect ratio to achieve 30" with something like a 5.5k (following the approach to the 24" iMac).
Hasn't it been just over a year since the announcement of the transition? Almost half the Mac line-up, with low-end/high-volume machines being prioritised, has already switched to Apple Silicon. If this large iMac gets delayed and doesnt get released this year, then it's simply unacceptable. Tim Cook promised a two year transition and more than a year in, we've only just got one damn M1 chip and much of the Mac lineup is still waiting to be updated to Apple Silicon. To think that the iMac, which was iconic and symbolises the Mac spirit, will take so long for an update....
And not to mention that the Intel version with 10th gen Intel is just getting so old

Er... The media? They want each new machine to get it's own set of headlines, not have everything wrapped up in one."Apple simply does not want their devices to compete for attention" Compete for whose attention? Are Apple customers regarded as stupid? Or is Apple too small a company to work on more than product at a time?
The M1 Air is great. You won't be disappointed.I’m tired of waiting on the new MacBook Air and am most likely buying a new one next week when my state does the tax free weekend. Almost went with the new iMac but just not sure that I like the pastel colors and I think I’ll feel the same way about a new MacBook Air.
Not necessarily stupid but Apple customers have always craved a simple product line, where capability (however you measure it) is a simple function of price. Hence they’ve always had a limited product line bolstered by limited technical customisation (as opposed to a myriad of marketing driven colour choices). Are Apple customers regarded as stupid?
Yes (almost). Regardless of the company’s size, at the pinnacle there are only a very small number of people making the “strategic” decisions that affect the company for years. When they lose focus, the whole company loses focus.Or is Apple too small a company to work on more than product at a time?
Apple regards it's customers as stupid. That has been apparent for many years."Apple simply does not want their devices to compete for attention" Compete for whose attention? Are Apple customers regarded as stupid? Or is Apple too small a company to work on more than product at a time?
People can be both intelligent - and also less likely to get excited by three products that launch at once.Apple regards it's customers as stupid. That has been apparent for many years.
