Wait, I hope this does not mean the Apple TV will stop working after 3 months, right?

lol.......I still have the original, really original white glass, with aluminum trim, about 8" square apple TV. I'm not using it, but it still works. Since Apple TV's inception, I have owned every iteration of the device and have handed down my older models to family as I upgraded to newer models. I can't think of one that has stopped working other than not being compatible with newer software. So you probably have no worries there.

World Cup is the only thing I've used cable TV for in 8 years. So glad I can just use my parent's subscription on ESPN2.com or whatever it's called now, cause otherwise I'd go to great lengths to watch it.

I agree on the sports aspect. We cut the cord approximately two years ago and never missed cable TV. But we do enjoy college basketball as well as football, so were finding that having people over on weekends was not as much fun without the sports/food party. So we are going to give this a try at $35 a month and see if it is worth it. Not a bad price compared to traditional cable companies.

The other aspect that hasn't been discussed here is the ability to purchase HBO, Showtime, Cinemax at a great discount, $5, $7.50, $7.50 (not sure exactly, but close). There were a number of TV shows that we enjoyed and were having to purchase or wait on Netflix to see, but mostly purchase b/c we got impatient ;) Since there were 3 on HBO, we decided to try that for the $5 per month, as purchasing would have been about $120 vs. $60 annual cost for HBO. It's worth doing the calculations if you want to keep the DirecTVNow.

FYI you can still get this deal Saturday morning at noon if you call up DirectTV. I just did.

I saw this article this morning and was upset that I didn’t take advantage of it. The price of procrastination. I didn’t bother to check their website to see if I could find the deal. So maybe you can still get it on there somehow. But if not try giving them a call.

As of noon on Saturday June 9 EST the offer is still available—— https://www.directvnow.com/appletv

I was putting this off for a while and finally signed up last night. $105 for a new Apple TV 4K is a great deal. Ill check out Direct TV Now, it seems ok, but I have Comcast so I’ll be canceling before my 3 months is up.

People who would rather pay $180 and stick it to AT&T make me laugh. Who cares! You’re getting a brand new Apple TV for $105 vs $180.

If you don't want the service, it's worth paying $20 extra for the reduced hassle, unless signing up for the service then cancelling it is way easier than I expect. If it would take 1-2 hours of my time, nah.
It takes like 2 minutes lol

You literally go on a website and make an account. It probably took you longer to sign up for macrumors.

How easy is it to cancel it? They usually make it harder to cancel than to sign up. Not that it really matters since I missed the deadline anyway and don't even want an Apple TV.

Darn! I should've done this.

The ATV 4K deal is still available as of now, just prior to 5pm EDT, extended.

HBO and Cinemax are $5/month each, Showtime and Starz $8/month each.

Comcast just added $15/month program access fee; this is even for the base package of OTA and misc. local access channels, not able to negotiate! Sports packages have additional regional fee. Then come the taxes and other fees.

So, the DirecTv Now looks much better as there are no additional fees seen in the billing now - will wait to judge this aspect.

Same ease. You login to your account, change your package and then select the Cancel option.

Last time I tried watching it, I couldn't believe anything shown on TV (besides World Cup) would be worth so many ads AND payment.
Most folks I know DVR 99% of everything and watch it at their convenience, FF’ing over the commercials.

My TiVo has had commercial skip for a few years now. For most shows, you press a button and it skips over the entire commercial break... you don’t even have to watch the commercials play in FF.

For the record, it’s just as easy to cancel. They don’t even have a phone number, you do everything online. It’s as easy as Netflix or Hulu

And to keep profits up and compensate for cord cutters, networks have been cramming in even more commercials and cutting more off the shows.
I'd pay $500 if it meant no commercials. They could offer me cable TV for free and I'd turn it down .

Here, the Networks are to be blamed in bigger part because they are increasing cost and advertisement revenue; the carriers, such as all cable and satellite crooks, make even more profit by increasing the cost for remaining customers.

Hurt AT&T and DirecTV, help your wallet and mind, buy as many ATV 4K as possible. All of the $105 goes toward the ATV price paid by DirecTV because Apple is NOT giving away the ATV's to anyone, not even AT&T their longtime partner in crime.

I like TiVo for OTA programming - very satisfying, and much cheaper with the one-time cost upfront and the SKIP feature.

I guess I was reading between the lines too closely.

Sorry, I never said it was cheaper. Just on sale. My point is...I’m not going to give AT&T another penny of my money. Ever. I would pay more (wouldn’t be THAT much), than pay for any live tv service. I refuse to fuel this old model of being a slave to traditional tv service. As long as people are willing to hand over their money to watch commercials, it will live on. Be Best!

All due respect, how are you watching live TV without commercials? I have Hulu without commercials, but the live channels have them, just like any live service?

To me, commercials are the price I pay for live content. If I am watching stuff after the live airing, I get not wanting commercials.

I actually liked the Direct Tv Now service, and the $5 HBO was a nice bonus (costs $14 from my isp). However I had to cancel since no local channels in Honolulu.

Thanks for the ATV 4k, and the standard ATV you gave me in 2016 lol.

You would rather pay $180 instead of $105?

Of course. I'm not an Android school boy.
I don't need my allowance, haha! I'm an adult!

What a weird, lame talking here; what a simple way to get the teenager applause...
Next, the expensive iPhones are being scolded again. Yawn!

Stinginess is a virtue and the most boring life task...

As we've followed DirecTV Now's ongoing offer to get an Apple TV 4K at no extra cost when paying for three months of the live streaming TV service for $105, it's been somewhat unclear how long the deal would last. According to our affiliate, today's the last day to take advantage of the deal, as the three-month offer will expire later tonight.

Note: MacRumors is an affiliate partner with DirecTV Now. When you click a link and make a purchase, we may receive a small payment, which helps us keep the site running.

Afterward, the deal will return back to prepaying for four months of DirecTV Now at $140 to get the Apple TV 4K at no cost, which will last only for a few days through Tuesday, June 12. After that date, the offer -- which kicked off seven months ago in November 2017 -- appears to be ending for good.

The deal continues to provide the best savings for a 32GB Apple TV 4K online (regularly $179), so if you haven't used it yet -- or if you want another Apple TV 4K in your house -- check out the steps on how to redeem it below:
[*]Visit DirecTVNow.com's landing page for the deal
[*]Click "Redeem & Stream"
[*]Select the "Live a Little" package to get the Apple TV at the lowest possible price
[*]Choose if you want to add another stream and premium channels, or click "Skip for now"
[*]Click "Add to plan" under the Apple TV 4K box in the Special offer section
[*]Click "Continue" and go through the account creation and checkout processes Although some users keep their DirecTV Now subscription after the three month period ends, many also choose to cancel the service before they're charged again. Even if you cancel, the Apple TV 4K will be yours to keep once you go through with the sale. DirecTV Now promotes the offer as one for new subscribers only, but existing subscribers can claim it by using an alternative email address from their original account, or by setting up an iCloud email alias.

Head over to our full Deals Roundup for even more of the latest discounts going on this week, including our new and exclusive sale partnership with Twelve South on accessories that will help you declutter and organize your desk space.

Update: It appears AT&T is letting the three-month prepayment deal run just a bit longer than originally planned, so make sure to grab it before it's gone.

The price of this is better than the horrendous price for the satellite service that I was quoted as being no more than $112 for the second year.
[doublepost=1528610022][/doublepost]The cheapest plan has the Reelz which is something that dish network took away from the flex pack despite the 2018 channel sheet advertisement listing Reelz as a channel to get people to chose the flex pack.

Jesus, lol how do people not fall down daily.

Open up a random email account, You buy for $105. Go to settings, same day and cancel subscription. Close that email and gift the 3 months to someone.

Some comments here...it’s like they are preparing for a 2billion merger.

I’m not watching live tv because it has commercials. I watch the shows that I like on Hulu Premium, CBS (commercial free), and Netflix. I prefer the “on demand” content that these apps provide.

The Apple TV is $0.00 with this promotion. I'd rather pay that than $105 or $180 :p

No. The ATV 4K is $105. The three months of DirecTV Now subscription is free. Apple is not giving away hardware, even to AT&T.

Sunday, June 10th 10:30 pm, the link still works with the site noting that it has extended the promotion, and I went with it all the way to the registration to verify. I have two ATV 4K units from this promotion.

Nah... from the website:

GET THE NEW APPLE TV 4K, ON US!
Now for a limited time when you prepay 4 months 3 months of DIRECTV NOW. Starting at $35/mo.

You're paying for the DTV sub. Even on the order page, it's $105 for the DTV and $0 for the ATV.

AT&T is eating the cost of the hardware to gain DTV subscribers. They must be retaining a bunch of subscribers (or folks who forget to cancel).
