Yep, good riddance. Can't wait for it to be gone.
Me too. Lightning should've been gone from iPhones a long time ago.

It's outdated in this day & age while USB-C has been improving year after year since it was first released to the world back in 2016.

I don’t know if I’m upgrading or just extending Apple care this year and upgrading to whatever the 16 flagship is. I’m still overall pretty happy with the functionality of my 13 pro max. But it’s going to be pretty hard not to upgrade if Verizon offers me $1000 for my phone again. I’m not sure waiting for the 16 is worth the possible $200-$400 less per trade in.

Still need the eSIM update……
Is it globally eSIM only?
eSIM only Globally? Freaking BETTER the HELL NOT!
if ever EU is to force Apple to NOT do something it should be THIS! Carriers still charge for a NanoSIM if switching carriers.really pathetic that they do to be honest.

Those of you in teh USA if you want a NanoSIM purchase a Candian mdoel this year.
Staying with my iphone 14 pro… the 16 pro will be the more worthwhile upgrade. Going to a 1/1.14 inch camera sensor will be epic!

First year Apple changes hardware its always lagging and sub-par in performance.
Dual Camera's in the 7 Plus,
FaceID super slow in the X and XS until second gen hardware for it debut.
ForceTouch replacing 3DTouch took 2yrs to get the same functionality, speed and reliability of action when invoked.

I'm not sold on teh action button. A button that's multi-faceted to replace a dedicate hardware switch has me worried it'll activate in teh pocket. Apple better have been excellent in its implementation to avoud spurious inputs/actions.

2025 will be the year of under display FaceID which will ROCK.
Periscope camera for the regular iPhone Pro should also happen.

Happy: I'm glad we're not seeing a fourth camera just to get Periscope ... terrible trend of adding more camera's to a phone. Pericscope variable lens should can replace a Telephoto and Macro capabilities. I'll bet its technical capability as well.

1.14" sensor in the ZTE Nubia Z50S Pro appears to be outstanding but warrants a complete differnt design change in the iPHone.

PS: I'd LOVE to see designer collaborations to teh actual iPhone itself from Apple - like Thom Browne Fold 5 edition.

From tests made by various outlets and reviewers, 14 Pro is better.
Agreed! The iPhone 14 Pro camera has a better camera setup with 48MP but it could also be the iOS 16 post-processing software that ruins the image. In addition, the iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max has a better Macro Mode.

Not sure that 6 x over 3X much improvement. I find the rumors of the level of improvement with 16 ProMax sound more like what I am interested in. The rest of features (USB-c— more cables needed, loss of my mute button, titanium and meh colors) just do not grab me. So I am 90% certain of not upgrading. Depends what I learn about the periscope that sounds more interesting than the rumors. I want to see close comparisons of 3X and 6x on the 14 Pro line vs 15 Pro line before I get excited not hype out of Cook and co’s mouths LOL
IF Periscope camera is vairable focal lens (like Sony's Xperia 1 IV/V) along with USB-C being USBC4/TB3/TB4 speeds, along with true fast charging via PD3/4 ... would that be enough to ugprade?

Personally I dislike Apple's insistence to add a great hardware feature ONLY to the Max version as it entices people that want that feature to upgrade to a much larger screen and heavier phone. Apple wastes iOS' potential on the larger Max screen as the only benefits you get on the larger screen is:

More immersive viewing of photos or videos (direct)
Larger viewing area when in Camera or video recording (direct)
Slightly more website content to view, mostly more lines (direct)
larger battery and thus more battery life (indirect - Apple still shooses relatively SMALL batteries for phone size vs competition)

Kinda sad that this year we will once again return to a paradigm where the Pro Max camera is better than the regular Pro.

Some people might not be interested in the bigger size (not really my case, I like the Pro Max gigantic footprint), and cameras should be the same.

It should be a matter of preference between sizes, but with equal camera capabilities, equal storage, and so on…

THIS severely frightens me and soemthign I've had a hunch on.

After 2years iPhones (yes I ignored previous consipracy posts too) seem to be runnign slower after jus t2 majo riOS updates.
More buggy or finnicky to say the least:

12 mini
messages very slow to close (more than 4-7 seconds from swiping up in 16.6
browser tends to creep or jump when scrolling.
shutter lage was HUGE just before I switched.

mesages in iOS didnt' pile up like many I nkow of (including 6-8 months of hisotry of photos, links emoji over SMS moreso than iMessage.
iThe internet hasn't really changed much to warrant jumps in content when scrolling, the same websites I've visited for years almost on a weekly basis (main pages not a specific URL or thread in a forum althogh its happened here as well).
pics: the outside world hasn't changed much in my hood so only the day or seasons change drastically.;

Maybe its iOS detecting I was starting to switch that caused all of this the first 4 days prior and 4-6 days during transition.

But like Schwarzennegger

"I'll be back"

- iOS Health data!! Years of health data including the recent decline during pandemci I forgot to export manually as SMart Switch does NOT carry that data (Apple's Security at its best, kinda greatful forthis).
- Pictures - seriously worse than my 12 mini's and S23 has an extra camera how can this be?
- Chrome browser. Its the EXACT same as iOS for both on screen in S23 and in Samsung Dex! What in the actual Frak (BSG) ?? How and why is this?
>> Volume is a LOT higher and music playback is VERY clean and LOUDER on S23 than iPHone 12 or 13 mini. Tuned by AKG is no joke!
> turns out Samsugn doesn't have a specific sub-service or sub-app that all other Android phones have - the ability to auto inject service and carrier authentication codes from messages received. Grrr!
> downloading pictures is a standard on webpages and saves inteh ANdroidOS file system in Downloads. It shows up in Samsung Galaxy but the picure is NOT there in gallery.

I'm torn: literary just out of a toxic relationship and I cannot express enough how similar iOS is to a past relationship that wsa great (like leaving iOS I ended it out of fear/situation not of the relationship) nad how AndroidOS 13 is like the toxic relationsihop and former GF. Looks great and hot and fun dating the ratchet at first. Then as you're sucked in before you nkow it your health subsizdes, you pickup terrible habits of dropping your goals your morale drops. All hell is ready to break loose in teh witching hours.

Where's my 12 mini! I hopign I can restore without the need to call Apple.

You are intense phone user. I am on my 14 pro all day (by my estimation) and I end the day with 40-50% left.

I think the 14 Pro Max is a different beast with regard to battery life. I hear more complaints about the 14 Pro than the Max
I keep reading about battery complaints and they are difficult to reconcile, especially because we hear about battery complaints with every model. I think a big factor is which apps are running.

I have a 14 Pro and only draw down 50% of the battery over 24 hours with an average of 5.5 hours of screen time and about 20 minutes of call time (usually over FaceTime audio or WiFi calling).

I can easily get a day and a half between full charges with average use including AOD on for 14 hours per day and medium to high screen brightness. However, I usually charge up to about 80% in the morning and by the same time the next morning it is at around 30%. It charges back to 80% in almost no time at all, so it is not an inconvenience for me.

But I also have one or two apps that, even in the background, will drain the charge much faster if I don't force quit them. One of them is SiriusXM, it is a CPU hog. Even if I pause audio playback, the app keeps chugging along indefinitely until I force quit it or start audio/video playback from another app such as Music or YouTube. If I see the battery draining quickly, that is usually the cause.

So I think it depends a lot on the apps, all other things being equal (cell/WiFi signal strength, call times, etc.).
