I view all my screens in portrait mode. But, then again, I only watch YouTube shorts and Snapchat.

Bring it. I think most people tend to use it in that orientation anyway. The cases all suggest it should be this way.
Not the people I know. When I think of everyone I know with an iPad, it's about a 75/25 split, with way more using it in portrait. It's more natural in portrait for non-techies. If you're used to using a computer, maybe you prefer landscape - but everyone else (which is, "normal" non-technical people) use portrait. It's more natural and easier to use when reading (and not just books, also web pages, etc.)

If they keep 2 front facing cameras and put it into a new form factor then I think they just found a reason to put the price up.

Needless to say the expectation has to be there for a camera on the iPad Pro models too but is there room in the current case configuration?

If the cheap iPad gets this and not the pro, I'm out. Also going to laugh when the cheap iPad has a slightly different size magic keyboard for $300.

Would work well if they used a 10.5" display in the 11" iPad Air/Pro body shell, plenty large bezel to fit a camera in and peripherals would then make sense.

If the 11inch pro has this along with mini LED I’m buying instantly. That’s all I want over the M1 model.
I'm in the same boat. I bought the M1 11 with the hopes that it's a 5 year device. The only reason I would changee is the for the XDR display. But then I wonder, if this 10 inch looks like the air, I wonder what purpose the Air will serve?

Landscape front camera will also mean landscape Apple logo and back text probably. So this would be one of the biggest changes to the iPad yet and aligns it more with MacBooks. It's also the preferred orientation and with Stage Manager coming to all iPads in the future, it makes sense. Chances are even the base iPad will get the 4 window Stage Manager.

This is starting to look like the iPad to have. I hope they keep the same pricing. Why pay more for overpowered hardware running exactly the same software.
But the software is different. Even with an A14 it can only do 4 Stage Manager apps and no external display, correct?

Doubtful that there'll be a landscape camera. It's always been portrait.
I don't know that the solution is to have a landscape camera. That merely makes the problem shift to the portrait side of things. What is the front facing camera were at a corner? I don't know that that is a great solution either, but there must be a better solution than shifting the camera to landscape or keeping the camera in portrait.

I think I’m one of the only people who uses their iPad in portrait mode 99% of the time and prefers the camera to be in portrait
I use mine in both orientations. Frequently when I'm using the iPad as an e-reader, it's in portrait mode, especially when it's not docked to the magic keyboard. I prefer to read e-books with the iPad undocked from the Magic Keyboard and in portrait mode. In fact, I think any time my iPad is not docked to the keyboard, it is used in portrait mode, otherwise it's in landscape.

Shifting the camera to landscape mode won't solve the problem for me. It merely makes the problem go to the "other side" of the iPad.
