U.S and Many Other Stores NOW DOWN

NZ isn't the only one... the US store is now down as well, in addition to many others...:D [edit: ah, I'm late. Sorry for repeating.]

Apparently not, BUT you may get a better deal on a closeout or refurbished top-end 24". It'll essentially be the same as the new top-end 24", just a slightly better graphics card (maybe) and DDR3 RAM instead of DDR2. If I decide to buy a Mac, I'll probably go that route or wait another 6-12 months:mad:

Totally agree with this strategy. This is looking like a pretty tame update. I was hoping Apple was gonna use the new low TDP quadcores announced recently by intel - the TDP is only 10 watts higher than the current 3.06GHz C2D, so it wouldn't have been an epic feat of engineering to get them in - minor heat-sink redesigns at most I would have thought.

I've read that there are some upcoming macbook pros with quad core by 4Q. We are barely in 2Q. Is it ok to spend some cash in a new iMac or mini and save the rest for the heavyweight macbook pro later this year?

lets get this out the way first eh ? ,

LOL

I'll still be disappointed and concerned if Apple leaves the Mini at $499. The baseline model should be $399 at the most, and work it's way up from there. Apple would sell a lot more Minis if the pricetag is cut by a hundred bucks.

hmmm..

The atmosphere is really interesting ... probably more expectation here than in a new years eve...

But .. I have a pc which needs an upgrade and was thinking on a mac ... but if the new imacs have the rumored specs (i.e. 2 duo) I won't be getting one for certain.

They are stylish, elegant and stable but with a 2 year old technology!

another fellow aussie here.. :D

Been waiting for this DAY for around 3 months, the new iMac is finally here... (well, almost)

I'm gonna pop down to the Apple retail store in sydney city and check out the new iMac.. i'm definitely purchasing the top-end iMac tomorrow.

Roughly how long does the update come after store closes down?

My sister ordered a Mac mini on Friday and is expecting delivery any day now as it's already shipped. What are her options for returning it?

She ordered it online through the UK Apple Store- do they have a 28 day no-quibble return policy if she should decide to try and send it back?

Thanks

yes , but they would make a lot less $$ ....

I read somewhere that australia is adopting macs faster that any other country next we will all be walking around with black turtle necks and blue jeans... oh wait we already do LOL:p

the new MacMini sucks again?!? My 2 year old MBP is more powerful than this desktop, damn!!

Why can't Apple see that there is a huge market with users willing to get a desktop mac in addition to their mobile one. User that already have one or more Monitors?!?!? A Mac Pro is overkill, but a Mac Mini doesn't make sense since its less powerful than even 2 year old Notebooks.....

I want my "Mac-Normal", a Dualcore Desktop CPU (Intel 8500 or such). A machine like that costs 500 bucks in the PC world. If Apple sold one for 800 I'd still buy it but no..... WTF

You have 14 days to return it.

Mate I'm sooooo doing the same tomorrow lunch time. I have a horrible feeling i'll be disappointed though. I don't think they've actually redesigned it - they've probably beefed it up a bit and that's about it. I'm talking about the iMac btw.

This better not be maintenance

Might be worth calling them if it has not already shipped, that is if they do actually update the mini today. Yes you should be able to take it back for a refund...
