But the i7 rocks and you said yourself high end desktop so why wouldn't apple release it. Makes no sense.

These perform the same. A Xeon 5550 is the same as the i7 920, just has one more QPI connection to connect to another processor. High end desktops are really aimed at gamers and enthusiasts. The Xeon W3520 is the same as the i7 920 too but with ECC support and will be aimed at UP (uni-processor) workstations and servers on the lower end. The Xeons are for DP (dual processor) workstation and servers like the Mac Pro and Xserve.

Intel like to be as confusing as possible :)

MacBreak Weekly

These announcements may be out just in time for Leo and the MacBreak Weekly guys to talk about them.

Seriously, if Apple releases the iMac, Mac Mini, and Mac Pro all today that's pretty damn impressive. Hell, that's even better than some of their scheduled events for product updates.

BUT

Who wants to make a bet that at least one of them won't be out today.

I just tried calling the 800 number for the US store to see if I could get the latest specs. Unfortunately, the customer rep was clueless.

Right, I just registered today, after lurking for years.

Hi everyone. :)

Now give us something good.

It's taking such a long time to update. It doesn't seem like a simple update to change some specs but a full blown graphics and videos media presentation. Maybe it's a new product?

Anybody want to hazard a guess as to what the Hard Disk upgrade options will be? I'm not sure if WD's 2TB disks are available yet, so maybe just a 1.5TB upgrade option?

P.S.
I'm unbanned :D

I suggest more sleep and reading Macrumors more often

the austr.... I'm not even going to go there. These updates look good to me, not looking forward to the price increases because the aussie dollar has migrated to Antarctica.
