so so far we've got only TWO model numbers 84 and 85

wondering what mine would come with :p:p :rolleyes: :D

Just got mine today; 9C84. No dust, so far (knock on wood) no dead pixels, and it looks very nice. I can see the frustration with the glossy, but I personally dig it.

my display panel is:
Producer: 00000610
Modell: 00009C84

it will be great when someone can upload a prof. calibrate ICC Profil for this panel.

Looks like 9C84 is an LG: LP154WP3-TLA1

Looks pretty good so far. No dead pixels, just calibrated. The profiles that came with this thing are terrible. More details to come.

you have this 9C84 to? and calibrated prof. with a tool? when yes can you upload yours icc profil, please?

MBP 2.4 I like this display. Have not tried to calibrate it yet, not sure it needs it but then I have not done any photo work with it yet.

Can someone decipher the manufacture date for me?

I am on my fourth MacBook Pro (Late 2008) due to sleep issues. The last three have all had the 9C84 panel. The new one I have now has the 9C85 panel. As soon as I booted it up, I noticed a difference...and I must say I am liking this screen better than the 9C84! It looks amazing!!!

How is it better? The 9C84 is among the best LCD screens I've seen (no experience with the 9C85 though).

The colors appear to be a tad bit richer. Of course this is just my opinion. But read up a few posts and there were a couple of other folks who said the same thing...

I have the 9C85 but the difference in which LCD is better can be debatable and in the end comes down to preferences...

The 9C85 is indeed nicer than people say, but this 9C84 in my current MBP achieves color reproduction closer to the desktop Dell LCDs I use (with IPS and P-MVA panels). It does really come down to preferences though. That said, after working with it for a while, I think I prefer the 9C84..

Has anyone found any difference in the viewing angle between the two screens? I find that the vertical viewing angle on my 9C85 is horrendous, to the point that if I'm looking at a solid color that goes across the screen, the top part of the screen will look different from the bottom.

The only other laptop I've owned did not have this problem - however it was one of those monster Dell XPSes with a much thicker screen, so I'm not sure if it was comparable.
