I ordered mine (16GB black) on Friday just after the :apple: Online Store opened it's virtual doors. The scheduled delivery was Friday 21th until Wednesday when I changed to " 2 - 3 Weeks Delivers 10 Oct, 2012 - 16 Oct, 2012".

My hopes are high when I read that some of you will get their orders earlier. Maybe I am lucky too?? :D

I ordered a black 32gb and a black 16 gb on 9/15 late in the day at my local Verizon store.

Order status says I'm in the October 5th group. Anyone getting updates on status?

I've had the same "We have received your order and it is in process." message since day one.

Ordered my 32gb black GSM model from apple.com at 6am EDT on the 14th. I just received the shipping notification e-mail this morning. The phone is now scheduled to be here on the 28th, instead of the 5th.

Half asleep. Grand Central, my mistake.

I saw boxes and boxes of the black ones on a table, being sorted out by one of the workers. There were at least 50 iPhone fives around 4:30 yesterday.

I was in Grand Central at just about that time. I walked through there a little after 5:00pm. I thought about going over to the store, but the crowd looked immense. I headed to the subway and home instead... could've been playing with a new iPhone already..lol.

The crowd indeed was immense. It took 20 minutes for me to find a store clerk to find out there were no iPhone 5 cases. I went to Verizon and overpaid for a terrible one.

Soooo, my black iPhone 5 has a very small silver speck on the edge above the charger dock on the back (not caused by charger, just appeared half-way through the day with no knocks) and a yellow tinted screen which I occasionally notice but is very obvious against iPad 2 and iPhone 4.

Is this something I could go into an Apple store with in a few weeks time when things have died down and get an exchange?

awesome! I am in Delaware...so it still has quite aways to get to me. :(

It's arrived in Kentucky now... It's very well possible we'll get our phones Tues.

I would predict tomorrow, but most likely it will sit in Kentucky for the day unsorted since nobody works on Sundays.

Walked into the local AT&T store at 10:30 AM Friday morning and walked out 15 minutes later with my iPhone 5. Preordering or standing in line outside an Apple store is idiotic. If you live in a city, drive to the suburbs. No waiting. No hassles.

I just called three Apple stores in the Minneapolis area and none of them had the 16G white iPhone in stock. So either that model is selling really well or the stores weren't stocked well enough.

Actually it is the perfect way to motivate people. Do you really think those people would stand in a line if they actually knew they can pick up a phone without waiting 3 hours later?

It IS all about marketing. With this product launch even most mainstream media formats in every country had a team on site of an Apple store. So the launch was featured in every major print outlet and in every major TV news.

So Einstein - as you currently are making up stupid assumptions about product launch logistics - could you please elaborate how many spots you have to run on TV (btw during what airing times) and how many money do you have to spend on that to let everyone know that your new phone is there!

Even my not so tech-savy parents and parents in law know that a new iPhone has been launched and they think it must be something very special as people around the world are lining up for it.

Sure it's a fabricated marketing plot.

I said this before and I'll say it again, it's quite scary that people actually believe Apple is limiting supply on purpose to create hype and demand. All they want to do is sell as many iPhones this weekend as possible so come Monday when every Wall Street analyst is banging on their door wanting sales figured they can report a big number.

I ordered two phones, one for my wife and one for me. I had to place them as separate orders, about 5 minutes apart. Hers is arriving by the 27th and mine shipped a day later and is arriving the 28th. We ordered at 7 am EST the day of release from Apple directly.

Ordered on the 14th @ 5:00AM EST with delivery date of Oct. 5th to PA.

No emails received, only an update on Apple.com of "Preparing for Shipment" and a charge for $316 from my bank account. Would this mean that it'll most likely arrive early than the 5th?

I ordered my iphone 5's @ 9.00 am CST Sep 14th
My shipment notification was September 23rd @ 6.23 AM CST
It will arrive Oct 2nd according to that info
Ordered from Apple Canada

They sold 2 million phones in 1 day
that is serious demand on a manufacturing plant
if Apple was making 100,000 units per week - it would take 5 months to build 2 million.

I like my 4, but the home button is broken. That made getting a 5 an easy decision. But, it makes me appreciate my 4 all the more.

All the same, I really would like a larger screen. And, despite how large the biggest phones seems, they really aren't too large, imo. 7" is bigger than you'd want to carry in a pocket, but 5-6" inches works. That's really not that large....we're just used to small because bigger couldn't be done efficiently and cheaply. However, Android is an issue.

We'll see.

5-6" does not work for most people. Some people like it and that is why Samsung and some others make them. But Apple isn't trying to make every option. And since the overwhelming majority do not want a screen that big...

I totally agree.

I purchased my mother's iPhone yesterday and it is showing that it will be delivered tomorrow. Wow, nice job Apple.

I know this isn't the right thread but since the one that was started is locked...

As well as having a silver nick in the black band, very small admittedly but we're two days into ownership here with no knocks - the phone also exhibits a noticeable yellow/green tint.

Here's an iPad photo so not good quality but shows what I mean (looks notably worse by eye - I also calibrate screens as part of my job so might well measure the output in the office tomorrow).

This is compared to my iPhone 4 which may be a touch blue but closely matches my iPad 2. There have been quite a few times I've felt the colour as "off" on the iPhone 5 whereas I never did on the 4. I know how a properly calibrated screen looks, I'll post lightmeter measurements if I have time tomorrow and if there's an appropriate thread, not expecting this to go over time, more likely just grow to accept it as people do.

The iPhone 5 for me is a mixture of nice upgrade and niggling disappointment in Apple's standards.

I ordered directly from Apple around 4:45AM EST on Friday, so only an hour or so after the initial batch had sold out. I have received no notification of shipment so far. Could this be a difference between the Verizon and AT&T phones? Mine is an AT&T model.

I preordered mine on friday at 5:15am through att website. I just finished chatting with a rep and was told their record status for my order ship date is 10/4-10/15.
They did offer to cancel my order as long as it doesn't go into "shipped" mode though so that's good. that means if I get desperate, I can try and find one at a store and have them cancel my online order. not sure I wanna take that route just yet, especially since I ordered a 32gb. chances are slim in finding that.

I'm no expert on this, but just did a test with Photoshop and the right one is as yellow as the left one is blue.
