'Late' iPhone 5 Pre-Orders Being Delivered Early

ATT 16gb Black ordered from Apple.com
I ordered mine at 8:35am from apple.com. I ordered the 16gb black on the AT&T network as an upgrade. Mine is in the US now and scheduled to be here on Thursday the 27th. Originally had a Oct 3rd delivery estimate.
Also side note, all the stores in Miami where sold out by Noon for walk-ins, so those saying there are 'plenty in stock' may be in areas where the demand was not as high (I am assuming) but this does not go for everyone.
Anyway, still super excited to play on Thursday!

So I went to UPS.com, put my cellphone as a reference, and I found out that my iphone has shipped. I have not received a shipping email, but with that neat trick, I found mines has shipped.
Does anyone know how to track the flight? Or find the delivery date? Mine says "Last Location:
Departed - ZhengZhou, China, Monday, 09/24/2012"

I have ordered it at 9:12 BST , got confirmation for 21/Sep, one day later an email informing me that the data had been pushed back to 3-9 Oct. Since them, it has been sitting there, no updates nothing....

I really don't mind waiting, I'm just upset that all these people that ordered after me are getting their times bumped up when I'm not.edit: let me take that back. I'm not upset with these people, I'm actually happy for them. I guess the word I was looking for was "confused" or "gypped".

Ordered mine from Apple.ca 8am Sept 14th, got shipping notification this morning. Last location is "ZhengZhou, China, Monday, 09/24/2012" but the delivery by date is gone. It WAS October 9th but it doesn't take two weeks to get here (I hope) UPS says 3-5 business days is typical. Having it Friday would be nice as I need to send in my iPhone 4 on Wednesday.
yup, im not liking this delivery date disappearing. Is UPS trying to pull a surprise delivery on us, hehe?

I pre ordered a black sprint 16gb on apple.com at around 6am pacific on the 14th. My original delivery date was oct 5. Like many others my orders went from processing to preparing for shipment at around 9pm the night before launch. I was very upset and called apple, they told me that my iPhone will ship out over the weekend. They were right. My order shipped on the 22nd and within two days is already in the us. Ups won't give me a more accurate arrival date does anyone know how long it should take to get from GA TO CALIFORNIA? Thanks and good luck everyone. Stay positive!

This is why people are ticked off. I ordered mine at the same time you did.
It has already departed from Georgia and its only a 5 hour flight to California so I am pretty sure I will have it by tomorrow... At least I hope
I'm hoping to get mine by the Oct. 4th date they quoted me, but since its been Preparing for Shipment for 5 days and no one can give me any info I'm skeptical.
This experience has convinced never to order from Apple again. Either they have no idea what they're doing, or they have some kind of bizarre system in place that determines (in a seemingly arbitrary manner) who gets what first. It doesn't matter if I get home tonigh and it's magically waiting for me (wont happen, of course)- customer service has been terrible all around.

I'm in the same situation. I got the arrival date of 9/28. Not that its a big deal but why are some in this batch the 27th and some the 28th?
Lucky you. Mine was shipped the same time but the last update was Saturday morning eastern time. It has been stuck in the same location in China since then. Hopefully it is on its way and it has just not been updated in the system. I have had a few deliveries where the website didn't show anything until after it was delivered and then the whole shipping history showed up on UPS's site. Not sure how useful that is.
same here, stuck at Zhengzhou since Sunday(China time)..no further updates and its already like 4pm Sept 25 in China.. man talk about obsessive behavior.

My thoughts exactly. This same thing happened to me for the 4S. I don't know why I decided to try it again. Next iPhone I buy, I'm not even going to worry about preordering. Just gonna walk in and pick one up.
