I have no problem with the album art and it can be prominently featured in the Musis app itself. But on the Lock Screen? How many people stare at the album artwork on the Lock Screen for long? I still don’t care as long as it doesn’t sacrifice functions that would be useful, but here it does (and always has done as these functions have never been directly accessible). At least give the user the option on what they want
You can turn it off by tapping the album art.

Ironically, I have a customer who just wants the lock screen to be empty at all times except for time and date? He keeps getting playback controls popping up even when the music app (or any player app I believe) is closed. He doesn't want anything on the lock screen up in-front of customers. And, there seems to be no way to completely make the lock screen just a dumb iOS 3 and earlier lock screen anymore. He's.. annoyed.

If only Apple made a dedicated media playing device? For, you know.. music, photos, and even videos!

Then, his phone, could be a phone, and he could have all his media on a dedicated media device, like he really wants.

I wonder what they'd call that?

They don't show for me when I haven't used any media player. The Lock Screen is usually blank until notifications come in.

His work schedule and my customer schedule have not synced up to allow me to get hands on his phone to try anything in person, sadly. Walked him through changing some settings that should reduce what he's seeing, but the next day got a text from him that it's still happening. I'm actually excited to get my hands on it to see what's actually happening?

Is there a volume control on the lock screen? I can't see the entire picture in the first post. If not, that's kind of an oversight to me.
Agree 100%. I don't see a volume slider; I know the device has the hardware, but still..... So much real estate.

Just don’t understand why the scrubbing bar is still the smallest thing on the screen. Form over function.

My goodness. Instead of making this smaller, so we can see notifications too, they actually made it MORE intrusive and annoying than before......WOW......
No option to make this monster small enough to a point where there are only control buttons, not everyone needs to see album covers?

It’s nice to see this feature in my 12 mini. Curiously we had never had this in this full-screen form-factor since the X shipped with iOS 11 (when this was removed)

I also like the way this can be enabled/disabled just by tapping on the album cover
Only bug I’ve experienced is the transition to a home screen semi-blurred wallpaper, but it’s almost unnoticeable

I've yet to be able to get this to work in Dev Beta 1, 2 or 3.

If I click the small album artwork, it just opens the device and brings me to the Music app.

Seems tapping anywhere else doesn't do anything. I'm open to suggestions...?

Dumb (phone)

Normally you can setup a focus mode, dim the lockscreen and disable all notifications except calls. I have a ‘chill’ mode that does exactly that.

If you put his work hours in it it should work.

Still some people have weird use cases :)

Now if Apple will only allow the Nike run app to appear on the lock screen…

You used to be able to do that like a decade ago, which made skipping songs easy… You didn’t even have to look down you could just swipe with your thumb. This is long overdue!

Most of that real estate is taken up by the clock, date, widgets, music player and notifications. As much as people like having the volume slider, it is unnecessary and duplicating hardware functionality.

Yes, as others have mentioned you tap the large cover and it retreats into the player widget.

It's likely showing up because the customer has headphones connected, and it's the Siri suggestions feature popping up. If they go into Settings > Siri & Search and turn off "Show When Listening" that should not appear in the future.

Hey all

I do like we have this option now. I like seeing large artwork on my Lock Screen and the background changing to adapt. I know for some people it is not important so it’s good it can be reduced with the tap of the screen.

What I would have liked to have seen/like to going forward (or maybe it will come anyway) is seeing artwork covers that are animated show this animation on the large artwork on the Lock Screen, as seen when viewing that album in the Apple Music app directly. See videos below.

I got the frustration with the scrubber ‘ball’ being omitted initially as I just thought, why. But it makes sense in how the scrubber functions now. As per my video below, you can scrub and seek using any part of the bar regardless of where the track is up to. Obviously you can’t tell where my thumb is on the video below, but you can see that the play point is quite early on in the track, yet I am scrubbing from near the end of the bar. Touching further up the bar doesn’t take you to that point, the bar only works as a scrubber as I have just described. This makes sense in removing the ‘ball’ (technical term, lol).

I am not saying I agree with the change, or that you cannot have the changed functionality without removing the ball, just explaining the operation behind it.

I definitely want the volume bar back though. I know the arguments are we have the volume buttons but sometimes, for me anyhow, in certain scenarios, it’s easier for my to just swipe the screen to quickly reduce or increase the volume. I miss that little bugger!

Thanks.
