Like it or not, it's still going to sell like hot cake and make Apple billions.

Or, it's going to go horribly this year and to compensate for it they give us and all out improved iPhone [insert 7/8/SE/S/Pro] :p

They will make a lot of money for sure. And they'll tighten supply lines to create artificial demand at launch. But you can bank on sales being MUCH weaker. Now that phones aren't subsidized, a lot of owners aren't going to jump back into higher payments for this device. There are no new launch countries to prop up sales numbers.

But because Apple makes so much profit per device, they'll just focus on those results and be perfectly happy.

This might be a stupid question, but what is that thing above the power/sleep button on the right side of the device?

I like the design and feel of my 6s. I do not really see a need to change the form factor. What I think is important is to improve the screen (4k, OLED, etc), sound quality, Ability to use it more than 10 hours, waterproofing, stronger glass, faster processor, faster GPU, faster wifi, faster LTE. This is what is exciting. Making it thinner or more square versus rounded -- really? That is what we worry about?

Having speakers at the top and bottom would do much better for stereo sound than two speakers on the bottom, given that most of the time when your iPhone is making noises (when you're watching videos or playing games), your iPhone would be in landscape.
Who do you think they are, HTC? Apple doesn't do that. Change the flawless and everlasting design of the iPhone. ;)

Can't wait for the them to explain the design in the keynote.
It's going to be so revolutionary...

"The latest CAD renders, posted on Chinese social media and shared by French website NWE, provide a closer look at the possible design of the smartphones and paint a clearer picture of which features may be included."

Enough for many to get the shakes and frothed up over.

Anybody on contract will be happy that there is no compelling reason to upgrade.
Looks like with a maturing market it's fine to go every 2 generations.
Coming from a 4S to a 6S Plus was nice, so I expect 6S Plus to 8S Plus to be worth it.
Apple is maturing much more than others, I'd say...

The 5, 5s and SE have a double grille on the bottom for a symetrical look. Only 1 is the speaker, the other being the microphone. I don't think such an expectation means stereo speakers, which would be better served being on top and bottom anyway... it's just one of the many things that looks better in the design of the 5 family over the 6 family.

So apple went from "4inches is the best" to buy the 5.5 inch it has the best features?
Why the heck is apple making the Plus model the best one, the only difference should be the screen size and battery.

MacBooks have been differentiated like this for a long time - larger screens come with faster processors, more ports and... heftier price.

If the larger space allows the Plus to have additional features why hamstring it?

I'm calling it right now - at least 50% of you who think this design looks 'boring' will be eating your words the second Apple puts out some press photos.

So it's basically a 6S with no earphone port and a better camera.

Will be sticking with my 6S plus very pleased with this phone
