No thanks. Last thing I want people to have, is the ability to blast their choice of music to myself and the rest of civilization.
People use their phone for much more than simply listening to music. They also use their phone for more than just personal needs. Try going to a construction site and setting up a speaker phone so everyone can hear what the design changes are going to be. A single speaker even on max has a hard time overcoming even just wind nose.

The additional screenshots in the original nowhereelse.fr article clearly show that the extra holes for the "second speaker" don't go through the case. They are purely ornamental for symmetry. Only a single mic hole actually goes clear through the case. This clearly indicates there is no second speaker.

Having speakers at the top and bottom would do much better for stereo sound than two speakers on the bottom, given that most of the time when your iPhone is making noises (when you're watching videos or playing games), your iPhone would be in landscape.
I see this coming in the future. Right now I'll take 2 over 1 speaker. Perhaps the 2017 redesign will feature 4 speakers or a third one all along the top! :)

I say this as someone who has generally defended Apple's design choices if in fact the leaks for this phone have been accurate --- That would be perhaps the worst design idea in Apple's modern history

So apple went from "4inches is the best" to buy the 5.5 inch it has the best features?
Why the heck is apple making the Plus model the best one, the only difference should be the screen size and battery.
Unfortunately, the 4.7" is also thinner than the 5.5" model which requires a less deep (and thus inferior) camera module.

Introducing the all same iPhone gross and iPhone gross plus.

Protruding camera and antenna bands... Please no Apple.
Have you seen actual real cameras? They all have a protruding lens.

Good find! This is pretty stupid, it is like they don't want this phone to sell (and it will, like hot-cakes).

These rumors are pretty uninspiring. This is the first time I'm more interested in checking out Samsung rumors. I can't say I'm a fan of Samsung or Android but their rumors are far more intriguing and show there are still many more ideas that can be explored for smart phone chassis. At least they are no longer copying and are actually branching off into creating their own unique look and feel for their flagship models.

I hope the lame rumors mean Apple has finally doubled down on secrecy and will have some features and design implementations to wow us.

Can you explain why they would partially drill those holes on the inside? As interesting as these rumors are, I don't think we can draw any conclusions just yet.

I cannot. I was wondering this myself. But I still strongly believe there won't be a second speaker. Not only because of this spec leak (assuming it is true), but also because the speaker assembly on the other side is pretty large and to be even remotely similar in quality and volume, it would significantly impede into the space where the battery resides.

I'm not 100% sure, but those screenshots seem taken from a model inside of Maya's 3D viewport... so I think they are not reliable, since Maya is not used for industrial production. Probably just some kid who got ahold of a kinda detailed iPhone model and made some mods to it to make it seem as an iPhone 7 rumor.

It's almost as if they've changed CEO, sacked board members, hired other board members, and reshuffled everyone else on the board in between roles over the last few years.

People use their phones in private. Ever used a phone in your home?
Except more and more the (terrible) trend seems to be to use ipads/iphones with audio in restaurants and bars. Particularly parents giving these to children to occupy them in those locations. I fear the disappearance of the 3.5 mm headphone jack will exacerbate this noise pollution.

I might be an outlier, but I think stereo speakers on an iPhone are about as useful as the channel up/down button on the side of your plasma TV. Who uses either?

With around three months remaining until Apple is expected to announce the tentatively named iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, detailed renders of the next-generation smartphones continue to surface on the web.

The latest CAD renders, posted on Chinese social media and shared by French website NWE, provide a closer look at the possible design of the smartphones and paint a clearer picture of which features may be included.

The 3D renders are consistent with many previous iPhone 7 leaks, showing an iPhone 6s-like design with repositioned antenna bands, no headphone jack, and a dual-lens camera exclusive to the larger 5.5-inch model. Meanwhile, the smaller 4.7-inch model has a larger camera cutout as seen previously.

There is also the addition of a second speaker grille occupying the space that would normally house the 3.5mm headphone jack, corroborating rumors that the iPhone 7 series may deliver stereo sound. At least one render has shown no stereo speakers in the past, however, so the feature's inclusion is still debated.

On the bottom remains a Lightning connector, which is expected to evolve into an all-in-one port for audio output, charging, and accessory connectivity. There is also a traditional looking SIM card slot, which likely rules out a sketchy rumor about the iPhone 7 having dual SIM trays for use with multiple carriers.

Other features consistent with the iPhone 6s include a side-facing power button and pill-shaped volume controls, mute switch, dual-LED flash, and a microphone on the bottom and next to the rear camera.

The renders offer no hints about Apple's plans to use a flush, touch-sensitive home button, a feature that could be reserved for the tenth-anniversary iPhone with an OLED display and glass casing expected in 2017.

There is also no Smart Connector depicted, despite some earlier rumors claiming the new accessory connector will expand from the iPad Pro to iPhone.

Apple is widely expected to announce the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in September. In addition to the aforementioned features shown in these renders, the smartphones are expected to be slightly thinner with faster Apple A10 processors, 32GB of base storage, improved waterproofing, and faster LTE and Wi-Fi. 3GB of RAM is said to be exclusive to the 5.5-inch model.
