No, I disagree. Pro will not likely be named for the OLED model. Even with all the new features, that doesn't make it a Pro device. It's a phone that makes and receives calls, to me, there is nothing Pro about this.
In the Apple lineup, Pro doesn't mean pro. It just means the most expensive and the best.

And the beauty of "Pro" is that it gives a licence for people to buy the cheaper models (e.g. the supposed 8 and 8 Plus) without feeling inferior, because they rationalise it with "I don't need the Pro stuff".

The Pro name is some of Apple's finest marketing.

Couldn't this just be a placeholder name though like how we've been referring to it as the iPhone 8? And couldn't they change it when it comes to actually announcing it? If this is it though then I can't say I'm a fan, but hey it's just a name after all. It's the phone itself what I'm most looking forward to.

Yes that's what I think! The X could simply mean undecided at the time this copy of the OS was . . . "acquired"

Only question left - is Touch ID still in the iPhone X, and just how good face ID is.

Gosh, has everything been leaked already?!?
The official leaked GM firmware shows the FaceID replacing the TouchID for iPhone 8.

Everything got leaked in the GM lol. I am running the GM iOS 11 on my 7 Plus.

Fingers crossed for an Apple Watch Pro Edition X made from Valyrian steel at an amazing price of 3,499$

Especially since I read that those within the company referred to is as 'iPhone X' as some inside joke. Makes me believe that this is just a placeholder name within the software that they haven't yet decided upon.

I do understand the Pro moniker and how Apple has used it throughout their line up. However, there is nothing Pro about a phone that is updated annually, where it's primary function is one thing, to make/receive notifications and calls. Even with all the technology, This doesn't hide a Phones main purpose. I firmly believe Apple this new OLED iPhone will not be labeled "Pro" for reasons as such.

I'm only going to buy the iPhone X if it has a headphone jack, costs $850 for 128GB, and comes with free AirPods. Otherwise I'm just going to get the regular 8.

That's great. But day 1 all the buzz go's to the X and the X is what the big fan bois and high rollers are only gonna care about

What's the difference between a MacBook and MacBook Pro then? Both are pretty much similar, and the Pro model doesn't really have Pro features as such, just better hardware. I get your gist though.

it should be iPhone ,iPhone Plus and iPhone Pro , like the ipads and macbooks

Ok. Now everyone remember: it's iPhone TEN not iPhone "ex". Just like it was Mac OS Ten! Hehe.

In OS X’s case, for sure 10. But I’m not so sure here...it is the 10th anniversary of he iPhone, but if we sill have an iPhone 8 what happens in two years? iPhone 10 and iPhone X (3rd generation)?

Maybe the X is just a one off, and the iPhone 9 will have the “X” design next year.

Well those names would be a surprise to me, if they prove to be the case.

Using the Roman Numeral X for 10 to mark this year's tenth anniversary is a convenient way around naming for the iPhone 10 in a couple of years time, but the recent suggestion that the naming of the three new phones would be iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone Pro made a little more sense to me. On the other hand, these names could be an indication that there is indeed a larger second gen. "iPhone 8 Plus" coming next year?

Just thinking aloud. It is all rather confusing though.

iPhone X bigger than iPhone 8 = Bad!

No smaller form factor for iPhone X = Sad!

As expected, not to be called iPhone 8 or iPhone Pro or whatever else nonsensical names people came up with.
It was always going to be X or Edition.

Skipping the 7S name doesn’t make too much sense other than to have a cleaner and seemingly more significant lineup for the 10th anniversary year, although looking at the history of iPhones it actually makes it messier.

I guess it also makes sense so that next year will be free of the stupid amount of ‘iPhone 8’ articles and videos that have been created.

Why should Apple shoot itself in the foot with that useless S naming again?

Also, the phones will be physically different (glass back) so, no S for sure.
People are going to be confused. The phone that people have been calling the 8 is the X now. The phone that was called the 7s is now the 8. Maybe apple is doing this to confuse customers and make them feel like they are getting a deal. One thing is for sure, it will be difficulty grab a new model this year.

And iPod, a phone, and an internet communicator....
