I've been using it for roughly two decades - accidental clicks have never been an issue.
Same here. I’m glad a fix is coming.Ah! that explains it. I thought there was a problem with my Magic Trackpad.
Yes -Is this email something everyone gets that reported the tap to click issue? If not you can all thank me and send me beer, girls, and money.
To be clear, the "tap to click" problem appeared to have been part of a wider problem with the trackpad. Below is the report I sent to Apple last week. I haven't downloaded the latest beta yet, but I hope it fixes all the problems I described below, not just tap-to-click.
--
• Tap to click with one finger: erratic, sometimes need to tap 2-3 attempts for the tap to register.
• Scrolling up or down with two fingers: Seems to be fine.
• Swipe between full-screen apps with four fingers: When swiping to the *right*, it frequently swipes to the *left* screen instead, or starts to swipe to the right but suddenly bounces back to the original screen. When swiping *left*, however, it acts correctly every time. This indicates that swiping to the left with 4 fingers is correct, but swiping to the right sometimes registers as swiping to the left.
• When swiping down with 4 fingers for App Exposé, it frequently bounces back to desktop mid-way through the action. When swiping *up* with 4 fingers for Mission Control, it often takes 2-3 tries to reverse back to the desktop. This indicates that swiping *up* with 4 fingers seems to register correctly, but swiping *down* with 4 fingers actually registers as a swipe *up* some of the time.
• Pinch with thumb and three fingers for Launchpad: Will often end with Mission Control instead (again, incorrectly registering as a 4-finger swipe *up*).
can you confirm that the tap to click is fully fixed for you? Would you mind testing it with `cmd + tap` to, for example, open links in the background and seeing if it's working? On my 14" MBP, beta 4 has made the tap to click itself perfectly reliable, but as soon as I pair it with a modifier key such as 'cmd', which I do very frequently, to open links in the background, it STILL requires 3 taps.Ok - I downloaded the update. The first item above (tap to click with one finger) appears to be fixed, but the third and fourth items (swiping between full-screen apps with four fingers and swiping down with 4 fingers for App Exposé) still have not been fixed. Still not sure about the last point (launchpad).
Seeing exactly the same here.can you confirm that the tap to click is fully fixed for you? Agreed. Tap to click is fixed, but I'm still having issues with 3 fingers up/3 fingers down to switch app screens. Primarily, 3 fingers down not fully registering and leaving me with all my windows still up. Similar to your 4 finger App Exposé experience.Ok - I downloaded the update. I actually do not use command-tap (but when I tried it now, it seemed to be fine so far). I usually use triple-finger tap for hyperlinks/word lookup and I can tell you that it's not working reliably.can you confirm that the tap to click is fully fixed for you? Well the funny thing is that I have Tap to click unchecked and it still works. Go figure.Hooray!
How many missed clicks I’ve had with Monterey … and using press to click actually drains the the trackpad‘s battery much faster.
I've been having a huge issue with the swipe between full screen apps recently, and beta 4 definitely did not fix itTo be clear, the "tap to click" problem appeared to have been part of a wider problem with the trackpad. yes exactly the same here.Sadly the latest build (12.1 beta 4) didn't solve the issue for my 2021 MacBook pro 14.
The tap won't register if any key is pressed and I can still reproduce this 100% of the time.
(hold cmd, do not move cursor, any tap within next 2 seconds won't register)
