Hmmm, @MarkGurman still has no new tweets. I really get the feeling that he does know something, especially since he asked multiple people to delete tweets referencing the post. Maybe there was a legal threat or something and that's why he hasn't released anything yet, but he really has me curious.

are you sure you're just not over-thinking this? I don't follow MarkGurman, but is this something really extraordinary?

You very well may be right. I just find it suspicious that he would delete the tweets, send messages to people asking them to remove references to the tweets, and then post very little on twitter after that. I just don't believe he would do all this just for twitter followers, especially considering he works for a pretty well reputed Apple blog.

Who knows.

I think msb3079 is just messing with us. His comments on this thread seem to indicate so

I am not. I have said most of what I know. I've communicated with him on Twitter a few times. He has since gone quiet (mostly).

I only know what he has said.. and do not really know what he's saying. Just that he will be posting "major iPhone 5 news later this week". It's Thursday.. so we'll see. I had no clue who he was the beginning of the week. It could be good information, it may not be. He could be messing with me and others. Your guess is as good as mine.

I watched the video, and here are my thoughts...

While we all know that some people (Apple employees) have the iP5 and are currently using/testing them in public, I find it extremely difficult to believe that Apple sends these out in the full iPhone5 packaging. I also found it "interesting" that he kept mentioning that it looked thinner and definitely has a larger screen, as though reiterating the current rumors would make us believe him.

I was thinking about this, and if I suddenly came into the possession of a secret iPhone5, AND decided to break my NDA to tease it online, what would I say/do in the post?

Well, I would be extremely excited first of all, which he is not. Likewise, I would comment on all the big rumors, like what the back panel is made of, and if any of the ports and/or buttons changed location, and I would measure the screen dimensions on video to give my viewers an idea of increased scale. I would also, HELLO, turn it on and show off iOS5. I mean, c'mon, really? Does this guy really expect us to buy this load of BS? It looks identical to my 3Gs, but with the apple logo and other info either covered or removed.

This is a lame attempt. Hopefully he is joking and just wanting to make fun of all the people who are obsessed. But I doubt it.

EDIT: I mentioned the Apple logo had been removed from his phone, but it is obviously still there.

The picture on the box has the old dock from iOS 3.0.

People are gullible. This is a 3GS. There's 1 key ingredient he was missing in that box to make it "more real". The iPhone 5.

So this was the big reveal?:rolleyes:

Putting everything else aside, the screen would be as dark or darker than the iPhone 4. Not light gray.

Anyone think Gurman's big announcement was the Sept. 8th event and MacRumors beat him to it?

Doubtful. I personally don't consider that to be that big. If he announced it was next week, maybe that would be big. But who expected it to be later than that?

EXACT words:

"... I'm posting BIG iPhone 5 news later this week. Major news."

I just don't think that matches up with a September 7th event. But who knows...

I've been following him all week since seeing this thread. Maybe he just wanted to increase his followers.

Yes, this was probably his "big" news

I agree, if anything that's probably it.

Also, if you have big iPhone 5 news, then why wait so long to release it? Really makes no sense.

Anyway, the only big news now would be a leak of the iPhone 5 just like the iPhone 4 leak, which probably won't happen considering what Gizmodo went through.
The next biggest would be a launch date, imo. Which MacRumors posted yesterday.

I think we all know what to expect from the iPhone 5 now, due to the case leaks.
