I'll explain, it's quite simple. The case design shows that the iPhone 5 will have a rounded edged (iPhone 3GS-like) design. Also, it'll be a bit bigger than the iPhone 4 and will boast a bigger screen. It will also be thinner than the iPhone 4. This also means that the antenna design is likely to have changed as well.

So we can make good rough mock-ups based on this info. Now the only thing we need to know is what material is used for the back and we'll have a pretty close to legit mock-up. Provided these cases are genuine.

On Topic: I really hope Mark wasn't BSing about the "major iPhone 5 news", why wouldn't he just post it on 9to5Mac? Why the wait?

I just used the extremely scientific method of zooming in on the photo and holding my phone up to the screen. The case looks like it would fit almost perfectly, maybe just a tad wider than the current phone. That could explain the visible edges of the phones showing in the photo, but certainly not proof that the case is thinner than the current phone, or that the new phone has rounder edges. We'd need to see a photo of the edge for that.

That is an extremely non-scientific method of proving whether the case is larger or not.

But this should answer your questions, as proof:

Thinner, and bigger:

"Extremely scientific" was sarcasm, dearie.

But thank you for posting the other photos. That's much more descriptive than the ones on the first page of this thread.

I don't know if I'm hoping these are legit cases, though. I really love everything about the iPhone 4. Not sure I'd really care for the rounded edges, for example.

We shall see.

I said this about the iPhone 4 when I saw the Giz photos man. I was like, why the hell would I want a square phone. Until I held it.....then it was over.

Apple has a way of ALWAYS designing beautiful phones

Or maybe this Mark guy is doing all this to increase his twitter follower count. How reliable is 9to5 mac?

That is WAY too big (twss). I really hope that's not real.

How is that "WAY" to big? You realize the iPhone 4 isn't the biggest of all phones, you know? :p I think a size increase would be perfect. It's not like they made a tablet out of the phone.

I disagree. There is no need to have a phone any bigger than the current iPhone. I remember when I got the first iPhone, I was very hesitant because it was SO big (back then, compared to my Razor, haha) The iPhone 4 is SLIGHTLY smaller than all previous models, but I'd rather it be SMALLER, not larger. But, if anything, I guess I may be OK with the current phone being "smushed"... wider, but thinner. In it's current form, I do think it is way too tall. Maybe if it's wider, but thinner, with a larger screen - it may all even out. We'll see.

Anyone noticed on all the leaked cases on the net, that the ringer on/off switch is now on the other side.

Welcome to last week.

That's a good opinion. We'll just have to see when it is announced. I'm pretty sure everyone will like it just like previous Apple devices. :apple::)

If it is true or not, don't care. I want the IOS 5 more than the iPhone at this point.

At this point, i wouldn't say no to either.

If the case lives up to the iPhone's actual dimensions, may look good :)

I'm sure whatever it is that Apple will release, it will undoubtably look good.

Figured as much.

Anyway, I think we can expect an amazing upgrade for the iPhone 5. Possibly, the biggest upgrade yet. Internally and Externally.

I really hope so, with the all of these new android phones coming out, Apple really has to step it up a notch to become number one again.

I'm sure thats just a white iPhone 4?

Rumors speculate that it might double as a dedicated camera button.

I'd be surprised if the the next iPhone doesn't have a dedicated camera button there, as well as an LED notification light on the front somewhere as both of these are in the iOS 5 Beta's.
