14 INCH iBook !!!

The alt for one of the picture on apple.com/home is "14-inch iBook"
Now that's something interesting...

YES!

Ok, I want that ******* machine!!!! It rocks, and therefore expect PowerMacs @ about 1.2 to 1.4 GHz!!
Reasonable prices, I believe.

Wow, 800 mhz G4 for iMac?!!

But is this it: iMac, iphoto, and iBook? What about PowerMacs? Or a digital lifestyle device? Man, some people are gonna be PISSED...

Any Problems?

Wow...I wonder if that 14 inch iBook thing is to be taken for real! I love my new iBook as-is because the screen is bright, crisp and compact - But a 14 inch model would put a different spin on things...perhaps a better spin!

So am I the only one who thinks it is a bit fishy that they have a link to the Time-page? I think someone is seriously pulling one on us.

errrmm

Only 933 MHz Dual G4? Isn´t that too little of a speed-bump fpr the high end? The Pro users gonna be pissed... 1.2 GHz Dual would be appreciated...

I agree...

I think the mhz jump would need to be bigger....

right now a 867 PowerMac with Superdrive/GeForce2 is $2500.... the new iMac with 15" monitor, 800mhz G4/Suprtdrive/GeForce 2 is $1800

That's it?

What the ****!!! All that hype for some ugly looking i-mac?
Thats all you have for me Steve! My customers are going to be pissed! Listen to your people we want PDA's "Digital Hub" What Happpenned?

On the contrary, this kind of press is a big deal for Apple, and you can be sure they'll want everyone to see it (just not quite as early as we did...)

Looking at the HTML source suggests that imac2002 and ibook2002 images are stored on an Akamai server

If...

If the iMac line goes from top end

iMac 700 Mhz G3 --> iMac 800 Mhz G4

I would expect...

Powermac Dual 800 MHz G4 --> Dual 1 GHz G5?

At the very least we should see Dual 1, 1.2, 1.4 Ghz.

Anything less than that does not distinguish the PowerMac line.

BZ

I'm hoping for all duals :)

woooo this news is good if you hope for a kick ass powermac to be announced.

I say: Forget the G5, Apollo is the thing to come.
I don´t believe Apple/Mot have enough G5 machines ready for a wide spread release.

I kind of doubt the 14" ibook thing. It seems that even though there is room for a larger screen perhaps that they would have to expand the case a little and it would work agains how extreemly portable the ibook is...

Sadly, I'm still holding out for a "just one more thing" blockbuster- but concede that the Time article makes it unlikely.

that's not all!

I think we're in for a treat today...

I don't think we're just going to see a new iMac & iBook....

I think there's a lot more to it than just that...

just wait and see...

:D he he he...

14

Sounds very interesting indeed. It looks like I may be splashing out on a replacement for my G3 500Mhz.

BTW, has anyone noticed that the International Apple Stores have been closed; "The Apple Store is temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance. Please try again later." Apple Store UK

It looks like we should be able to get our hands on the new Mac's sooner rather than later.

it's 14 inch, no doubt

you can doubt it, it's your right... but this is what the source looks like on apple.com/home
<A HREF="/ibook/"><IMG SRC="http://a772.g.akamai.net/7/772/51/e29c073a6b175b/www.apple.com/home/images/2002/01/ibook01072002.gif" WIDTH=170 HEIGHT=125 BORDER=0 ALT="14-inch iBook"></A></TD>

the image isn't there yet, but why would they put up a bogus source code??

Cube Parts etc

Well, no slot load for imac maybe the ibook will

seems odd to drop the slot load for the imac.

The iMac is G4, hooray.
I guess we know what they did with all the re-called cubes and their components.

I cannot wait any longer

1.2GHz Dual would be appreciated for WHAT? Everyone is so anxious to get a few thousand megahertz in their computers, but what are you going to use it for? And who could possibly afford it?

If Apple focused less on speed, and more on the digital hub, and changing the face of computing, then everyone would greatly benefit. I use a Mac because I can accomplish things in fewer steps than I could on a PC. The speed of my processor has never been an issue (400MHz G3), and I am a professional graphic designer who uses the Mac every day with large files and multiple applications (and OS9, thank you.)

So, who cares about speed. I want more iDevices and intuitive software.

re slot load

Superdrive only comes in a Tray-model

Interesting...

Even the german online store here is shut down due to "important" updating :-D
