regarding MacBook UK prices, I'm hoping with this rumoured price drop we'll see prices at approx:-

low end - £629
middle - £779
top - £879

Agreed. But if the new MacBooks are good i'm sure i'll still be happy with the current prices. Any reduction is just a bonus, so i'm not expecting anything.

I just hope they get the lead out and hurry up. School starts in three weeks and I need to get the laptop ready.

The pictures are [highly probably] fake. Having said that, it seems plausible that apple would really bring a similar, aluminum macbook out in the not too far off future.

I don't see why people think its fake. if Apple is going to release and Aluminum Macbook how else would it look?
And obviously it will look thin they probably will use the same displays that are in the MBA that way it looks the same minus the word 'Air'.

I'm in the same boat, as many of us are I'm sure. Sick of playing the waiting game. Unfortunately, I'd rather suffer and actually take notes manually than buy a product which will be replaced shortly... When I put big money down for something like this, it better be new for longer than a few weeks, otherwise why bother?

Well, we've already seen leaks of the MBP case (from the same blog, right?), so I would say so. Obviously, it won't be as big of a change since the MBP is already in aluminum.

Overall, it seems like the entire notebook line is going with a tapered aluminum look. Seems to me like the Air, Pro, and Macbook are meaning less and less...I wouldn't be surprised if they change what designates Pro to power and performance rather than screen size and case material (obviously the latter is the same in all three cases). Thus:

Macbook Air: 13.3", no optical disc drive, lower performance, targeting the road warrior

Macbook: 13.3" and 15" options, a variety of processor/hard drive options, integrated graphics (perhaps with nVidia chipset, the IG will be better?), still targeting the consumer, student, etc.

Macbook Pro: 13.3", 15", 17" options, high end processor/hard drive options, discrete graphics processors (still potentially with nVidia chipsets), superior monitors (matte option, obviously, for graphic designers, etc.), targeting prosumers, pro users, creative designers, etc.

I realize this isn't the first time this sort of revamped product line has been bounced around before, but with these new leaks, it seems likelier than ever.

A 13.3" MBP would by my wet dream come true! A MB with backlit keyboard and dedicated graphics? Yes please!

Unless you were going to read this MacBook like an actual book, I don't think there'd be any reason for the 90 degree-flipped :apple: logo.

seems fine to me.

ppl LOOK AT THIS, THE WORDS ARE NOT OFF CENTER OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a defect in the macbook pro. There are threads on macrumors: forums about it even.

and about the McDonalds thing...that's stupid... can you compare lettuce to metal parts? they sell $3.00 burgers not $2000 computers.

geez it's just an example that your not quite getting, he made his point, and most of us got it, it's not a comparison it's a example

Thin and aluminum - sounds like it will be too hot.

We Mac users put up with some high temps in our notebooks. :(

it' really doesnt look any thinner i dont think that has any thing to do with it, and as if the current macbook DOSENT have heat problems, so i'm guessing it will

(matte option, obviously, for graphic designers, etc.),

I would think graphic designers want a glossy option as they want to get the best color available. Glossy, the colors pop. with matte they dont.

If you complain that it shows up the light then dont stick the notebook screen in the light. how simple is that? Finger prints? Should you really be touching your screen?

Why not?
I think 16:9 ratio would be better.

It is. Some Sony and Acer laptops have 16" and 18" models and those are in 16:9. The resolution would just change. Why do people fail to see that key thing.

I see them keeping everything to one simple look to cut down on production costs as well as to stay "green"

People are too sceptical and over-judgemental around here.

WAY to skeptical and judgmental

erm. Please read the other posts. It has been proven that the logo is not facing the worng way.

I know I would never get the glossy screen. anyone that works outside or needs to (working from a shooting location for example) avoid glare, but can't control the environment needs the matte screen option.

I hate reflections a lot more than I like "richer" colors. theres an adjustment for colors not for light reflecting into your eyes :)

arnt there screen protecters? plus not many people "work outside" and "need" a computer with them. If they do, they wont be using it all the time, if they did it would most likly use a toughbook. by pansonic

I dont see anyone going back 10 years. most TVs are now glossy. The ipods are even glossy. imac is now glossy. Time to really get with the times.
