What the heck is apple doing?

I 've managed to conveince 5+ friends that are either starting or going back to college to switch and I got them all hot and ready waiting for their brand new macbooks and they are going to get f. dell real soon in a couple of weeks or so that their courses start....

Not everyone can wait like us mac fanboys...come on apple...what the heck is that strategy of letting everyone buy vista comp. at the start of their terms.:cool::apple::apple::apple:

The average buyer doesn't know if and when new versions are coming. They are buying the current model for back-to-school. I am only going to guess that Apple knows a little bit more about when to release new models than you do.

I am only going to guess a little inferiority complex on your part hence the smug wiseass reply. If we took for granted that EVERYTIME apple knew better than anyone else about such decisions we wouldn't be here in the first place. Apple isn't infalible and their errors or ommisions, major or minor, are a daily occurance. Fyi also, something which you 'd very easily realise if you didn't have your head stuck so far up your rectum, the average buyer is getting more and more wiser when it comes to getting the right info from websites such as this one about upcoming models. I alone have let my friends know about the imminet updates, why wouldn't other mac users have let know other potential switchers? The answer is of course that they have. So consider all these before posting your half witted comments.:apple:

god i am so sick and tired of how UNCREATIVE these mock ups are. i know im not spittin any out, but lets try to think of some other ways instead of just thickening the air. good lord, think outside the box for a minute and stop sticking optical drives and magnetic latches all over it. sheeeeesh.

I don't speak for everyone, but when I mockup a product I tend to stick with appropriate design cues given past product histories and tendencies. Asking someone to avoid said cues is like saying "Make me a Ford pickup, but get rid of the Ford logo and make it look like a Hummer."

People NEED class. stop making crappy mockupos of current products or expect eveything to look the same or because someone said the word "air"

i also hate it when people say "iphone nano, iphone shuffle iphone this that come learn they wont copy the ipod line up

Touched a nerve did I? The point is I am 100% sure Apple puts a lot more research into it than you or I do.

Leopard delay anyone? And how some people predicted Leopard would be delayed before Apple announced it?

Just because people disagree heartily with you doesn't mean you "hit a nerve" (i.e. you having a point). It could just as well be a reaction to some opinion which seemed utterly ludicrous. The notion that people won't react unless you had a point is equaly ludicrous. If you don't believe me, try (just as an example) posting something extremely racist, pro-pedophelia or some other extreme ignorant opinion and see if you can use your argument where you insinuate that you MUST be right, simply because you get a reaction.

I would love to see an ostrich stick its head up its rectum over sand any day of the week. Nice one, man!

Apple removes Macbook Pro add from website

http://www.apple.com/mac/

Apple has removed the "New Macbook Pro"-add from their website!!!!
The right add of the 3 adds in the middle of the page used to be a macbook pro add, now its GONE....(replaced by MobileMe) :D:D:D

Updates Updates
:)

I've made up my mind. I'm going today to purchase my first ever Mac. The back to school promotion with free iWork 08' and free Airport Express ($200 saving) is enough for me to pick a current MacBook over a new model.

I'm not a guy who needs alot of performance, so a speed bump means little to me. It's more important that I get a reliable old product then a Rev.A product that could potentially have problems while I'm at school. I will probably pick up a stick of 2GB of RAM and pop it in myself and bring the total to 2.5GB. :)

i understand that, but ford to a hummer is extreme, and irrelevant. Apple doesnt design their products to look like other computer companies products. to me, they design original, simple, beautiful products. Im only saying that the mockups we see most of the time are NOT original. They are almost identical to previous apple computers, give or take thickness, optical drive or magnetic latch. If i could create mockups in PS i would, but i wish someone around here would think outside the box and try to think like apple when it comes to designing future laptops and desktops.

first of all decksnap, is right. MOST people do not know when a computer refresh is around the corner. This little macrumors website makes up 1% of the people buying apple computers. most people buying the back to school promo are buying for the looks, the brand, and the ipod. apple knows a lot about what they are doing, and they probably sell more computers through the back to school promo than most other times. (not including iphone sales) and i agree. buyers are getting smarter when it comes to making large purchases, but a lot of buyers during this time are looking to get their "like totally awesome, way cool macbook, like OMG" from their daddy, just in time for fall classes, without even doing research. and really, how many friends do you have that are alllllll looking into buying new apple computers?
just my 2 cents, because not everyone is obsessed with apple inc rumors like us here on macrumors.

Given the direction of Apple's notebook line, I don't think my mockup is "out of the box," but more a realistic representation of what Apple might release. It's not about what you want, it's about what Apple wants and how they decide to market their identity and products.

what happened to all they hype for the new macbooks? it makes me sad
Just because there isn't any hype now, doesn't mean that the previous hype is incorrect.

Just like with the very recent iPod rumors, soon we may hear of release dates and more concrete specs.
