Imagine how embarrassing it will be if Apple actually announces iPhones with inductive wireless charging. Most embarrassing thing Apple has done and definitive proof that they failed to do something useful with wireless charging.

What’s the non-embarrassing wireless charging tech that you want them to use??

By the time all these leaks are confirmed they'll be no surprises when Apple actually announces it except "I know that was on the raider"

All the auditorium will see is a tumble-weed somewhere getting in, blowing in the breeze (cos someone left the door open)
Accumulated rumors have never hurt a major Apple product announcement. This will also be the first major product announcement in the Steve Jobs Auditorium. There won't even be room for tumbleweeds.

A Foxconn employee has allegedly taken new images of the iPhone 8's internals and posted them to the Chinese social networking site Weibo over the weekend, providing a look at the inside of Apple's OLED iPhone that's expected to be announced next month. The images lack a layered glimpse into the iPhone's internal components, so they were probably not taken via x-ray and were more likely captured through some other form of black and white image processing.

The images depict an iPhone in the "engineering validation test" (EVT) stage of manufacturing with a codename of "Ferrari," the internal name for the iPhone 8 that was previously leaked in supply chain documents late last year. Within the iPhone 8, there's a large, central black spot that represents the device's wireless charging coil, which is what will fuel the smartphone's long-rumored wireless charging features.

Otherwise, you can see the dual camera module for the rear camera, blown up shots of what appears to be the front-facing camera or sensors, a large space for the L-shaped battery, and a stacked logic board design previously rumored by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. These changes will result in an iPhone with a longer battery life, which Apple hopes will entice those with older model iPhones to upgrade this year.

The EVT stage that the iPhone 8 images represent is a very early stage of manufacturing for Apple to be in at this point, with design validation tests (DVT) and production validation tests (PVT) to go ahead of a consumer release. This calls the validity of the images into question, but they could have been taken at an earlier date. At this point, we know that Apple supplier Samsung Display is entering into full scale production for iPhone 8 OLED panels, while numerous reports have pointed towards a shortage for the iPhone 8 come launch.

Feeding into more delay and shortage rumors surrounding the iPhone 8, Foxconn vice president Luo Zhongsheng said that the yield rate of the iPhone 8 and its OLED display is only at 60 percent -- a number previously estimated by industry watchers -- because crafting the "special-shaped" OLED display is proving difficult (via MyDrivers). The vice president shared the news on Weibo, and the post has since been deleted. Zhongsheng was likely referring to the front-facing "notch" that's rumored to hold the iPhone 8's camera and 3D sensors for facial recognition.

Rumors and leaks related to the iPhone 8 are growing more and more steady as we near the device's announcement, expected at an event in September. Thanks to the release of the HomePod's firmware, we now know the general front-facing design of the iPhone 8, and that the smartphone might record 4K video at 60 fps. The facial recognition system was also discovered to potentially be able to scan a user's face even when the iPhone is lying flat on a table.

[doublepost=1502125150][/doublepost]I was thinking the same thing... Nice to know it's all in the hands of Windows XP

What are the rumors of the screen size of the 8? 4.7"? 5.5"? Are they just putting phone capabilities in iPads?

I think you would be surprised how many features and capabilities have not been leaked. That will end up being announced during the keynote that we're not subjected to any leaks at all. Not to mention what's considered actual being factual versus false. There a lot of variables here.
Yeah, and weren't we all surprised by Apple Watch? I didn't remember ANY leaks for that. They did a good job keeping that secret.

/not sarcasm. Ha

Hopefully. They DID keep the Apple Watch completely secret. I don't remember any leaks for that which was cool.

I bet if you took a poll and asked what the Chiron was no more than 10% of the public could identify it as the new Bugatti.; heck, I bet less than half would even know Bugatti is a car manufacturer.

OTOH, darn near everyone knows what a Ferrari is. Sure you've got more powerful and even more expensive vehicles out there, but just like Rolex is to watches Ferrari and Lamborghini are to cars.

No. The Apple Watch did have leaks, but they were few and far between with what the iPhone has, which has a longer back history over the Apple Watch.

And the iPhone and Apple Watch are Completely two diferent products for comparison. First, the Apple Watch does not nearly have the notoriety the iPhone does. The iPhone also has multiple manufacturing plants, where as the Apple Watch has primarily one plant if I recall correctly.

It was fairly easy to keep the details secret because they announced it six months before it went on sale. It's a similar case with the HomePod. They are already starting or are very near to starting production for the next iPhone so supply chain leaks are inevitable.

Hm. I see what appears to be only one rear facing camera. Is this really the iPhone 8, or perhaps the 7S?

The kind that is useful. The kind that allows a user to charge at a distance if 3ft at least. Otherwise, wait until that becomes a reality.

The watch had only 1 case CAD leak and that was about 24 hrs before the unveil.

Hey guys that have work iPhones and want to upgrade do you just have to wait it out for HR to upgrade you or you pay for your iPhone yourself and swap sim cards?
My company does vouchers as a perk. To be honest, it's only half a perk since the company is contracted with Sprint (yay nepotism! Can I get an exploding fist bump?) You can BYOD/BYOD - buy your own/bring your own - from any network or you can use the perk. Perk: company will pay $350 or $700 (Visa Gift Card) towards device of your choice from Sprint. The $350 you get if you change phones yearly and the $700 you get if you change every two or more years. Yes, you own the phone either way.

They're using XP?! Seems like a pretty big security risk.
I doubt it. These systems are typically not connected to the internet.
Also, if you have a tool and it does the job, why replace it?
Like the old saying goes... "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

True wireless charging will still have to be plugged into a wal somewhere.
Qi charging, your phone lays on the plate, someone calls, answer and tap the speaker. Works really well. Or pick up your phone and when you’re done place it back. Such a harassment!! And no, you don’t have to put it in the right spot. Horizontal or vertical, it works. Exaggerating, you can throw your phone at the plate it and it works.
Been using it for more than 2 years on an iPhone SE (before the SE it was 5C).
