The kind that is useful. The kind that allows a user to charge at a distance if 3ft at least. Otherwise, wait until that becomes a reality.
Yeah, I don't especially want any more waves going through my brain thank you very much.

Doesn't look to be anything that looks like a fingerprint reader at the bottom near the Taptic Engine and speakers. No Touch ID seems to be a foregone conclusion at this point. The facial recognition had better be utterly stellar!

It was fairly easy to keep the details secret because they announced it six months before it went on sale. It's a similar case with the HomePod. They are already starting or are very near to starting production for the next iPhone so supply chain leaks are inevitable.

I believe Products like the Apple Watch for example, Remained More concealed, especially more so than other Apple products, because the Apple Watch was a completely new product. Apple also was not prepared to produce the Apple Watch when it was announced in September 2014, Which ultimately translated into very few leaks from the Production line.

Primarily, Apple leaks originate from China, where the new product is being manufactured and a picture Is photographed of the future product in production. As you alluded to, the Watch was not released until April 2015, which was almost six months after the announcement in September 2015. I suspect the HomePod will follow suit.

These waves don't penetrate the skin in a significant amount. If you're worried though, you should be very worried about cellular wavelengths that do, but have shown no evidence of harm, through science.

Kind of funny how they're using Windows XP in these factories hahahaha

I was going to comment on the same thing, but I imagine its not to any fault of theirs. Whatever programs they're using probably haven't been updated to be compatible with any other operating systems. I've been in CNC machine shops that are still using Windows 98 to run their programs.

you mean that's what *current science is saying. Wait ten years and then we'll see.

Marketing defense 101 on why they don't offer wireless charging and why they want to sell you crap quality lightning cables over and over again.

There's no fault to be assigned to anyone. Those machines are most likely airgapped and run purpose built programs (as you mentioned) that don't need to be on the latest and greatest hardware/software. Broke it aint. So fix we won't. - Yoda probably

What is the current rumor on price? Are people thinking $849 (7S $649, 7S+ $749, 8 $849)? Or is it actually much higher?

There's a rumour that the code name internally was 'Ferrari'. From that it makes me wonder if it could be more.

After all, it they could make this tech in sufficient quantities, there wouldn't be a 7S. As they can't, a $100 premium won't stop many people from buying it - it's only $10 extra on a 12 month contract.

By the time all these leaks are confirmed they'll be no surprises when Apple actually announces it except "I know that was on the raider"

All the auditorium will see is a tumble-weed somewhere getting in, blowing in the breeze (cos someone left the door open)

Crazy we've gone from "Apple won't be able to do that" to "I'm bored" in a few short weeks.

What’s the non-embarrassing wireless charging tech that you want them to use??

I don't think it's that. It's interesting they've decided to add it now. After all, they could have added it years ago, but apparently didn't because it wasn't useful enough (we assumed they were aiming for true, long distance wireless charging).

True wireless charging still isn't ready. So... why has inductive charging earned its place suddenly?

My company does vouchers as a perk. To be honest, it's only half a perk since the company is contracted with Sprint (yay nepotism! Can I get an exploding fist bump?) You can BYOD/BYOD - buy your own/bring your own - from any network or you can use the perk. Perk: company will pay $350 or $700 (Visa Gift Card) towards device of your choice from Sprint. The $350 you get if you change phones yearly and the $700 you get if you change every two or more years. Yes, you own the phone either way.
What a deal!
I just started and they gave me a new iphone 6s :(
May be out of luck with any upgrades for the time being but I'll ask.

I still have some hopes that this wireless charging method isn't solely placing your phone on a pad and having it charge via induction, such as the Apple Watch. Ill be very surprised when the Keynote comes and the wireless range is 2-3 ft. Now that'd be nice....

Being too hopeful though.

This looks legit, and it differs from the 7 series devices as they have some flex connectors on the top of the device. These all run down the right edge, which is far nicer from an opening standpoint given that the devices now open sideways.

Lol, gotcha...
It’s “embarrassing” that they didn’t use tech that doesn’t exist, that you can only vaguely describe.
I had briefly thought that you were trying to make some sort of valid point.

It exists and I can describe it in much more detail if you like.

Energous only has FCC approval for the charging mat. They haven't gotten FCC approval for distance charging.

You better not buy any more smartphones then.
If you will re-read my original post, you will see that I stated I didn't want any *more* waves going through my brain.
Somethings are a necessary evil but that doesn't mean one has to add to them. That was the nature of my post.
Totally wireless charging is just an discrectionay feature at the expense of our bodies. IMHO. The End.
