Windows XP and IE confirms that this is indeed a screenshot made from a Chinese computer...

With a cable I have to reach for the cable and plug it in. With a wireless charger, all I have to do is drop it on the charger. That's the difference and yes it is slightly more convenient

If you will re-read my original post, you will see that I stated I didn't want any *more* waves going through my brain.
Somethings are a necessary evil but that doesn't mean one has to add to them. That was the nature of my post.
Totally wireless charging is just an discrectionay feature at the expense of our bodies. IMHO. The End.
But there is the fact that you have no concept of the technology. No concept of the electromagnetic wavelength and how it interacts with biological tissue. No concept of how much energy is being transmitted.

In other words, you just don't know what you're afraid of. Children are afraid there is a monster in the corner of the room at night. The monster isn't there in reality.

With a cable you can roam up to 20ft away and still use the device.

So nothing says these are inductive charging coils, right? It could be the coil for the resonant charging? Right?........Right?

Right?:(

iPhone 8, priced at 8888rmb, in red.

China sales through the roof.

facial recognition.....hopefully Apple has this as perfected as Touch ID. I've seen face recognition which is bad. A perfect example is windows 10. If the lighting varies if the distance you are from the sensor varies it just doesn't work right
I would hate to think Apple is going with
A feature because it's different rather than perfected
We'll know soon enough

Kind of funny how they're using Windows XP in these factories hahahaha
These are isolated machines, not part of a network or connected to the internet. They have one job and one job only to do. Most X-ray machines are controlled by Windows XP, do you expect cash-strapped hospitals to throw away X-ray machines because Microsoft releases a new operating system?
I don't see what's so ****ing funny.

Crazy we've gone from "Apple won't be able to do that" to "I'm bored" in a few short weeks.
[doublepost=1502128993][/doublepost]

I don't think it's that. It's interesting they've decided to add it now. After all, they could have added it years ago, but apparently didn't because it wasn't useful enough (we assumed they were aiming for true, long distance wireless charging).

True wireless charging still isn't ready. So... why has inductive charging earned its place suddenly?

I would bet that their choice to include the more common inductive charging is first and foremost related to their not being able to implement true wireless (broadcast) charging. Secondarily, it's likely they are simply taking advantage of how common IC has become, given it's finding its way into a lot of new vehicles and even furniture sold by IKEA.

Finally, it's yet another thing that Apple can help build out the market, by offering their own IC solutions, as well as pushing more companies to develop solutions just because of Apple's huge numbers make it something worth chasing after.

Hey guys that have work iPhones and want to upgrade do you just have to wait it out for HR to upgrade you or you pay for your iPhone yourself and swap sim cards?

I purchase myself and switch out SIM cards. Much easier than waiting on HR to decide when to place the order, how long the delay will be, etc.

I also pay for my own despite being entitled to a company funded phone - that includes line rental and call charges. That way I get the phone I want when I want it and don't have to worry about "reasonable personal use". It also makes the phone costs tax deductible.

Also since when did Human Resources ("HR") control when phones got replaced. That is all the responsibility of IT for the companies I have worked for.

Why would you pay for your own line? Tax deduction won't make up for the savings from a paid mobile account.

You are correct . I meant IT.

Jesus Christ, take a pill. You sound insane.

A lot of the machines we use for production are disconnected from the internet, receive no software updates and get changed only when they absolutely have to. Removes any unnecessary vulnerabilities or variables.

No, mostly they are completely offline or on a network which only connects the needed equipment (i.e. not internet or regular company LAN).
Where I work, we've got ICT stations that still run on Win NT.

I doubt it. These systems are typically not connected to the internet.
Also, if you have a tool and it does the job, why replace it?
Like the old saying goes... "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

But look at the actual pictures! On the first picture, the first tab on the task bar seems to be of a running session of internet explorer. The page title is something with "Weibo", so this machine does seem to be connected to the internet.

The second picture is total BS IMO. It's just set up to look like a mysterious testing lab. You can clearly see that the same picture that is displayed on that big screen is on the display of the smartphone as well. The big screen is probably just mirroring the screen of the smartphone via a cable. I guess what we're seeing is some kind of small phone repair shop that put together this set up to make it look more credible. WHY? maybe because the leaked internals are fake? anyone can create a cheapo "EVT" excel file, fill in some numbers into some fields and add a photoshopped low quality black and white image with a big black rectangle to suggest wireless charging.

If this was a legitimate leak from a foxconn employee, why does the leaker create this dubious repair shop set up?

I do! As far as I know XP and even the version of XP for embedded systems is no longer supported, that means no more patching for ANY types of bugs. What I expect is for a machine that can cost over 500K to have the ability to get be fixed for as long as the system is in use. Especially for test and lap equipment,

It was fairly easy to keep the details secret because they announced it six months before it went on sale. It's a similar case with the HomePod. They are already starting or are very near to starting production for the next iPhone so supply chain leaks are inevitable.
Good point

Most people are not buying new phones every year.

What makes you say that?

I think there's a whole host of people still using the iPhone 6, waiting primarily for a re-design.

I'm still on the iPhone 5, so I'll be getting the 8 this year. The fact that the iPhone 5 is still working and running the latest iOS means that I'm much happier placing £1000 into Apple's pocket for my next phone over the next five years. £200 a year is less than a pound a day, which represents good value for something that runs my life.
