And yes, hacking audio is a concern (as is ANY hacking), but much, much less so than video, from my perspective at least.

If I wanted to spy on Tim Cook... I'm more interested in what he is saying. I want the latest Apple secrets.
I already know what he looks like. I've seen him for years. I can find a picture of Tim Cook easily.
It's why the cops tap phone lines of criminals. They want to hear them making plans for the next heist. They already know what they look like.
If I was a valuable target... and you turned on my front-facing iPhone camera throughout the day... you'd either see blackness in my pocket or my ceiling as the phone is laying flat on the table. I rarely hold the phone directly in front of my face.
But you could hear all sorts of cool stuff throughout the day.
I dunno... it seems funny how some people freak out about webcams... with little pieces of tape covering them.
But they never think about audio... which I think can be much more valuable.
