My sister has a 5C in green and her husband in blue and I must admit, aside from the smaller screen size and lower specs than my 6 plus, the phones actually feel really really good in the hand. Premium feel and finish even if it is plastic. The blue and green colors at least I actually really like. They look great and kind of make the phone look more fun. I personally wouldn't opt for the C series, but I really could see where lots of other people would. These things just look and feel great in your hands! So, I think Apple doing a 6C would be a great idea. I envision it having specs closer to the 6 minus the camera upgrades and screen size.

I like to think at some point, just like Apple did with the iPad 2, they will discontinue the "plastic" looking iPhone... but i could be wrong..

How much would Apple be making of this compared with the better quality iPhones ? even though their an entry point...

Now, USB-C and/or TouchID or the 6c ? No way that will happen in a million years.

If this rumour is true, I don't really see the point of it. It would make sense if it had iPhone 6 internals, but with 5s internals, you might as well just keep on selling the 5s. As much as I truly want a 4 inch phone, I would not buy this.

I can't help but feel Apple is saturating their product line up. Which is exactly why Steve came back and fixed in the 90s. All these different version of iPhone and MacBook's are not a good idea. Keep it simple Apple please!

It would help if their products where different. I have to go elsewhere for devices that allow me to do something that is not just the same thing over and over and allows for some personal control.

In my opinion, the so-called iPhone 6C will most likely be something like this:

1. It looks like a iPhone 6, but with heavy-duty plastic case instead of the metal case of the iPhone 6.
2. The antenna subsystem is similar to that of the iPhone 6, but hidden.
3. The front touchscreen is the same size and resolution as the iPhone 5 or 5S.
4. Will use a new, more power-efficient version of the A8 system on a chip (SoC).
5. Supports CDMA, TD-SCDMA, GSM, and LTE digital cellular radios.
6. Supports 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi on 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies.
7. Has 1 GB of system RAM.
8. 32 GB of on-board mass storage only.
9. 1.2 megapixel front and 5 megapixel back image sensors (the same as the iPad Air), plus the same flash system as the iPhone 6.
10. Touch ID sensor, but in an improved version over the iPhone 5S original.
11. May or may not have NFC subsystem.

Btw apple hasn't called this 6c. It will prob be called 5Cs or something similar. You can't call something 6 w the size that was leaked as well.

Sure you can. iPhone 6c = a [c]olourful, more [c]ompact, and [c]heaper version of the iPhone 6.

My wife loves her pink 5c. The only thing she would like to have in addition is touch ID. Her contract will be up this fall. I'm pretty sure she'd be all over a pink phone with touch ID, whether they call it a 6c or a 5sc or whatever. Especially if it is $0 with a contract.

Why do you think it won't come with a metal ring for TouchID?

Why is the flash in pill-form? Didn't they unify the 2 flash for the 6 and 6+?

They could sell a ton of these plastic iPhones if they came in black.

This was the comment I was replying to:

I hope the TouchID ring will be of the same color as the iPhone's back shell. That'll look good! ;)

It's impossible to achieve the same plastic color with metal.

I disagree with this if true.. iPhone 6C should be iPhone 6 form factor with a polycarbonate body.

I agree with this. I don't want to use a phone as big as the 6 or 6+ but would like to upgrade to the 6 form-factor. I'd be quite happy with a plastic or alloy body but not in the 5c form factor, that's going backwards.

I´m happy with my 5C.
I would like touch ID, since that home button looks a lot better.
A better camera would be nice but I think the one I have is good enough for the stuff I do with it. It´s not like Instagram is for pixel peeping :)

That being said..

I still hope this rumor is wrong.
The 5C with the 5S internals would have been OK if it came when the 6 came out. Re-releasing a 2 year old phone is not OK at Apple prices.

I paid $750 for my 32GB 5C, quite a lot for basically a 1year old iPhone 5.
For a 2 year old phone (iPhone 4s specs) it would be a robbery.. :)

Not "having personal control" is what Apple does... Well forever. It controls the user experience. So, maybe your looking for something from them they don't ever want to offer. As for offering the "same", what on earth do you want? What is that special thing other companies are offering? I don't see it. If they offer haptic like on the macbook on the Iphone 3, or Air 3 screen, are you going to be bored by that and say meh?

If they put the 6 guts in this thing with Touch ID and Apple Pay. Make it the 4 inch screen and cheaper they would make a killing.

The idea that an iPhone 5C would "have the internals of the 5S" is nowhere to be found in the original rumor. It was invented by forum members in responses above.

The original rumor implies that an iPhone 5C would have the camera and flash of the 5S. That's all. No rumors about the chip, broadband, wifi, storage options, Touch ID, or NFC.

Taking the camera and flash from the 5S might make sense. Taking the logic board from the 5S would be completely daft.

Camera and 5S would be great! Can you use the iphone 6 logic board with the 5s camera? (I'm not a technician)

I'd actually prefer the 5s camera over the 6 (I like the pixel-y look over the smudge look)

If the 6c is the same internally as the 5s, there's no reason to wait for a plastic phone. I made that mistake with the 5c and it resell value is less than the 5. I'll just get a 5s if it's the same as 6c.

I really hope for A8 and the better touchID for the 6c.... and BLACK PLASTIC!!! (so bugged they didn't offer black last time)

edit:
Is it possible to fit the 6 into the 5c shell?

This is the 6, 5s, and 6+ boards.

Yes, they would sell, but would Apple make their money on them?
If they get rid of 6 body, moving it to this 4" plastic, selling for $100 OC... they could make their money, perhaps... (if a complete 6 cramming in is possible)
::But, what would be free? 5s?::

Another option is to use 5s internals in plastic and sell $0 OC...
::But, what would be $100 OC? The same 6 body from 2014?::

There's the camera hole problem... If they cram the current 6 into 4" plastic body, then wouldn't they have a round flash for it?

Contrariwise, if they use the 5s internals in 4" plastic and added :apple:Pay, why should the 5S users who prefer 4" buy it? Just for :apple:Pay?

(I'm just being hopeful here, but I really hope that the answer isn't: "The iPhone 5s users are going to be completely satisfied with either a 4.7" 6 or 6s". Seriously. F that. Person pays $200oc for the 5s and prefers to get an updated 4" device. Even if it's -1 year performance, and $100oc less, that's reasonable expectation of consumers. But to only make a 4" device that is -2 years in performance, essentially a 5s, and offer it at $0oc... that's F'd. Offer a reasonable device option for 4" lovers.)

At least the iPhone 5c lead-up two years ago was a blast to follow. Very, very interested about this 6c.

i think it might. makes sense

Like I said earlier... Franken-phone

I don't understand the people complaining about how crappy the phone will be. We only have a picture of a possible shell and nothing else. Could it have the same internals as the 5s? Yes. Could it have the same internals as the 6? Possibly. How about we wait until Apple makes an announcement before we pretend to know how terrible it will be.

As for those complaining about plastic, who really cares? How many of you complaining, and what percentage of people who buy an iPhone, put a case on their aluminum shell phones? Over 50%, so most people are not showing off the "true beauty" of the phone. A plastic cover doesn't make it look any worse than some of the cheap plastic cases.

They continue to become more controlling each year. At one point in time they were really moving that way, they would not offer anything I was looking for. At the moment I can own some of what they make along with another system that allows for more control and or function.

Sometimes it can be about just being slow, not adding what they can now so they can add it a year later even though everyone else already did. Yet they do other things first at times. I wonder how long others would have taken to make it common to have better screens on laptops and phone. It is standard now yet not so much a few years ago.

What do I want? A Surface Pro 3 in by Apple for one. Touch screen (on the smaller models), wacom etc... at one point I wanted blu-ray, not really an issue anymore, however it was a couple years ago.

If I was going for a laptop and wanted a Macbook, I would likely be fine with their new offering. The lack of parts could become an issue yet not so much if it is mostly the portable device.

I almost picked up an ipad mini 2 however no flash for the camera. The iPhone is nice, not sure how well I would do with it at the moment after getting used to micro sd cards, file systems etc...

For someone like me I think Apple works well along with other devices and not just on their own.

The reason many people (I known why I do) take issue with a lot that Apple does is because we want the perfect device from Apple yet that may never happen in the category we are looking at.

My issue is how it looks. (match the back color to the front Apple!!!) and it is not cheap enough for what it is.

Apple would not reuse the logic board from any prior iPhone. The logic board would be a new design, packaged and optimized for the new phone.

Most or all of the components on the logic board (A8 chip, NFC, broadband, wifi, etc.) would be taken from previous iPhones, mainly from the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 6.

The battery, case, and logic board would probably be the only new components, though it's possible that the Touch ID sensor might be new rather than taken from the iPhone 6.
