Any New iPhone Will Include Apple Pay

I'm most curious if this will have NFC and, if so, does that also mean it will have Touch ID. Is it more important to use those features as differentiators between the C line and the more premium phones or do they want the masses using ApplePay and the potential revenue that would generate?
From Apple's perspective, Apple Pay is a critical feature for any new iPhone. There is a network effect in play. Apple need to maximize both the number of user devices and the number of merchants supporting Apple Pay.

There is an ample sufficiency of other differentiators, including size, storage capacity, camera, etc. Omitting a strategic feature is not a sane way to achieve product differentiation.

I wonder how many unsuspecting people will "upgrade" from the 5s to the 6c. That would be dumb.
If Apple produce a 4" iPhone 6C, I will upgrade from my iPhone 5S in order to get Apple Pay. I'll be pleased if an iPhone 6C weighs less and has a better camera, but an absence of those features will not stop me from upgrading to get Apple Pay.

I will never, ever buy an oversized 4.7" phone. Ever.

Probably not, since the ring has to be metallic to detect if your finger is on the sensor.

Why do you think it won't come with a metal ring for TouchID?

Why is the flash in pill-form? Didn't they unify the 2 flash for the 6 and 6+?

They could sell a ton of these plastic iPhones if they came in black.

Ugly color, but its a nice move, glad to see apple adding a 6c to the line up. I do miss my iPhone 5c.

How can this be called 6C while it's a 5S rebadged? Funny. It may just be called New 5C for the lowest tier while 6S and 6 will be in top and mid tiers.

Profoundly disappointed that my STRONG preference for a 4" screen (I would never consider a bigger screen) means I will be forever relegated to cheap plastic phones. No more sexy silver or space grey for me. I love Apple's design and I have never ever used a case... not even a clear skin. Nothing. 100% "naked". And my phones are all still pretty close to mint. I'm very careful with them. Now I'm stuck with Fisher Price design. Such a drag. But oh well, it's just a phone I guess.

If they're using the 5S internals, why not just buy a 5S now if you're waiting on this? They're both 4 inch phones but one uses quality materials like aluminum. So silly.

$100 less.

----------

This is the kind of innovation only the world's greatest leader can produce.

Yup...because if they keep 5S, it looks bored to people especially students and teenagers. By rebadging the 5S into polycarbonate, the phone is easier to make with somewhat less expensive materials and very attractive to young folks for cheapest tier ($0 sub. or $449 unlocked). That's a damn smart move.

----------

The 5S wasn't a bad phone. It would be nice if they could somehow add ApplePay to this. That would make it a very cool budget iPhone.

People who buy last tier phone (like this 5S rebadged in color plastic) don't care much of Apple Pay anyway. why? They're teenagers and students. Adding NFC chip and redesign the chassis to include NFC antenna to sell at the bottom tier is not Apple business sense.

I'll say it again for this as I did with the 5: I wish these casings were available for the same internals we have with the real 6 and 6+.

Candy-like or not, they look nice. :)

Take it or leave it on the looks, but for those of us who go case less this would be the best option. I have a 5S, but would get a 5S with the C casing in a heartbeat. Right now I rock a skin on the 5S and it works fine, but I'm always a fan of having nothing on it at all... That's what she said.

If it exists at all, it would be very surprising if it didn't have Apple Pay. I think Apple would like to get as many people as possible signed up. And if it has Apple Pay, it absolutely must have TouchID.

Which probably means I'll buy it. I like the ecosystem, don't care about specs, and find the 5c by far the most comfortable iPhone to hold.

If it goes for $0 on contract, I'll drop $375 on the base Watch. I'm curious about them, and feel that's a reasonable price to try something out for a year or so.

Wouldn't mind seeing the colors refreshed, though.

I'd be very surprised to see Apple release a phone named the 6c that has 5s internals (A7, camera). 4" screen is fine. 16GB is fine (not really, but that's what it will be - and the 6s better be 32GB and up). Apple Pay is a must.

I think there will be plenty of A8 capacity once the A9's go to the 6s, especially since the A9's are primarily from Samsung while the A8's are TSMC.

The 5s will be the 5s as you know and see it today. A7, touch ID - exactly the same phone you can buy right now. Zero change there. And that will be the bottom tier iPhone.

Bringing up the middle will be the 6c. Basically the exact same internals as the 6 of today (except for maybe a minor tweak here or there, like they did with the 5c to fix some of the mistakes they made with the 5). A8 processor, Apple Pay, no major changes aside from wrapping it in plastic.

Then you'll have the 6s and 6s plus. A9 chips, better cameras, and then who knows what else. They will essentially look like what the 6 and 6 plus look like today, maybe with some added gloss like they did with the 5s compared to the 5.

It's not rocket science. I don't really get why people come up with all these wild speculations when the patterns are so obvious.

Forever??? The future lasts a long time.

Even if these rumors are true and Apple introduce a plastic 4" iPhone in 2015, that does not mean Apple will not introduce a metal 4" iPhone in 2016 or later years.

Exactly!

I still hold on to my 4s as the iPhone 6 is too large for my taste!
Nevertheless, I would like to have updated hardware and a metal casing and I am willing to pay for it.
Still hoping that Apple will realize that a 4" phone is a viable product!

I saw someone with a 4s the other day, looked like a toy. (Compared to the larger phones now)

So, you're hoping that Apple keeps the 4" phone viable, yet you keep your 3.5" iPhone and missed out on the 5, 5s, and 5c.

What are you waiting for?

There is simply no good reason to omit Apple Pay from future iPhone models and compelling reasons to include it (already noted several times in previous posts by various forum members). If any new iPhone model does not support Apple Pay, I'll sell my Apple stock because it would be an indication that the management are idiots.

Need to keep offering smaller phones for smaller people.

A 4.7" is too big for my middle schooler.

It'll definitely get Touch ID at least. I just think there has to be some kind of deal breaker to make people buy the more expensive 6s, which is why I think it won't get Apple Pay yet.

I agree - there's no way any new iPhone models won't support Apple Pay. They have enough work cut out for them right now as it is, just getting merchants to accept it and iOS users to adopt it.

I use LoopPay with my 5C and can use it almost everywhere since it utilizes magstripe technology. Some say magstripe is legacy technology that's soon to be outdated, but for now it's the standard and will continue to be for quite some time.

ApplePay and Google Wallet will continue to grow with acceptance and usage, but they've still got quite a lot of ground to cover.

i'm all for a 4" version but disappointed that it is watered down

I don't get why a lot of companies does this - It's not even exclusive to the phone industry - Even car makers waters down the smaller models, so if you (like me) like smaller cars, you need to be pleased with cheaper plastics, less equipment and smaller engines ...

Just make the 6S in three sizes and make the size the only difference ...

Why would Apple make a 5S and a 5C with 5 internals and now use the internals of the 5S voor the 6C? That doesn't make any sense.

If Apple makes the 6C it would probably be with the internals of the 6, with touch ID and with Apple pay and stuff. You don't have to be a rocket scientist.

The only thing we don't know is the size. If it stays the size of the 5C then I'm going to buy one for sure. I have large hands but the 6 is to big for me. Can't reach the whole screen with one hand/finger. I want my 5C (6C) back.

I can't help but feel Apple is saturating their product line up. Which is exactly why Steve came back and fixed in the 90s. All these different version of iPhone and MacBook's are not a good idea. Keep it simple Apple please!
