This makes sense to use 5S internals - I hope it starts at 32Gb.

It doesn't make sense to me. Theoretically, the reason to make a new 4" phone is to give the folks who want a smaller phone something to upgrade to. If they put the 5s internals in the 6c, then there's no reason to upgrade, the 4" phone folks will just keep the 5s.

I will keep my 5S

I will wait for a full featured iPhone with a 4" display. I would like an iPhone lighter than my 5S with a more accurate TouchID. Until such is available I see no reason to upgrade.

Its most prob going To have 5s internals.

Nope. It makes sense for Apple to use the A8 (iPhone 6 internals).

Here's why:

  • The 5c had a 2-year lifecycle. Apple are probably planning the same for this model, so it makes sense to give it a chip that won't be utterly obsolete in 2 years time.

  • The screen size is already a huge differentiator between the "c" models and the premium models. Even if the A9 turns out to only be a modest improvement over the A8, many users will be happy to pay more for a premium model because of the screen size.

  • By the time the 6c rolls out, there is unlikely to be much difference in cost between producing A7 vs A8 chips. It might actually be cheaper to produce A8 chips due to the smaller die size, and economies of scale. (New Apple TV will likely use A8?)

  • The A8 is more power efficient, so the 6c will have better battery life for a given battery size if it uses it.

  • The 5c got the iPhone 5 internals. Why wouldn't the 6c get the 6 internals?

As much as I like the feel of the "C" models, there is no space in the current product line for this.

There definitely is.

Why aren't you complaining about:
  1. Mac Desktop: Mac Mini. iMac. Mac Pro.
  2. Mac Laptops: MacBook 12". MacBook Pro 14" (2015/16). MacBook Pro 16" (2016)

It could well be: iPhone C – iPhone X – iPhone X Plus.

Leaks? What leaks?

Didn't I just read where Apple is really cracking down on the leakers, especially in China & elsewhere overseas? Yeah, right!

I guess it's like stamping out ants as they invade your home while you're on vacation.

It will be interesting to see if Apple shuts this manufacturer & supplier down before the dust settles as they promised.

Good luck, Apple.

It will be interesting if Apple does in fact release this with a 2 generation old spec and lesser storage to then state that it's aimed at women as mentioned in a prior MacRumors post on it. I'm not exactly sure if Apple wants to say that women aren't deserving of a current spec or 128GB storage.

(bolding is mine)

They do this and I won't upgrade to anything.

Went from a White 3GS (bought from an awesome forum user here) to a white 5C - love it...

Great news Apple is keeping the "C" series - it's what they are about being "different".

Can't wait and gonna get the 7C...

;)

A lot of the 4" phone people probably aren't on the 5S even now.

5S internals will be a nice improvement over an iPhone 5/5C internals. Add an NFC chip, touch ID, and you have a big improvement over the current 5C.

Apple wants all of their phones to support Apple Pay, including the entry level model.

Why would a shell made this far in advance have the Apple logo and all the markings? I would imagine Apple would be more cautious. It looks fake.

It seems fairly easy to fake - just copy some holes and move them around on the image, and done! new rumor!

Yep, but as for their phones in the wild, they're going to need more than apple pay to convince 5s owners, especially those that are buying watches. They need to offer something for the 4" phone folks who are getting fresh upgrade offers from their carriers to get excited about.

I'll be hugely disappointed if they just used 5s internals in the 4" 6c. I want a 4" phone that's powerful and packed, not a few years old technology (cameras, battery, 1GB RAM, CPU..).

I think the C series will remain a generation behind, so I believe the _best_ that could be hoped for is a 6C that uses the current 6 internals (A8, 1GB RAM).

I would imagine a 6 in a case designed around a 4" display would come close to maintaining the same battery life since it would driving a lower resolution display (and we're not talking about massive volume differences - especially if a C maintained the old C form factor, it might actually be +larger+ volume).

I wonder if with the 6C Apple will add NFC chips so that starting Fall 2015 every new iPhone they sell will be capable of Apple Pay. Also would be a great selling point over the current 5S

Exactly.

I'm not talking about adjusting, I simply don't want a 4.7 inch phone

the 5s is perfect

I can see your point if you are already on a 5S, but I don't think you are in the majority of users who this phone will catered to.

Currently the 5C is two generations behind the 6/6+ It would makes sense that Apple would follow this pattern.

At first I was thinking "they'd never do a "C" model again." But you know what? I totally see them thinking people might buy the according color "C" to match your sport watch.

Here's the most logical (IMHO) lineup for Fall 2015:

iPhone 5C (upgraded): $0 on contract, 8 and/or 16 GB storage (maybe finally drop 8GB), internals from iPhone 5S (A7, M7, same camera with pill shaped True Tone flash), TouchID, same color options as current 5C, remote possibility of NFC for full Apple Pay support (expand the user base)

iPhone 6: starting at $99 on contract, same model as 2014 (A8, M8), 16 and 32 GB storage, Space Gray, Silver, Gold

iPhone 6S: starting at $199 on contract, upgraded internals (A9, M9, faster storage), 2GB of RAM, 32, 64, and 128GB options (maybe still 16 at low end instead of 32?), minor camera revisions (doubt drastic changes, like dual lense or optical image stab.), upgraded TouchID, major addition of Force Touch and Taptic Engine, addition of rose gold color to gray, silver, and gold.

iPhone 6S plus: same internals and upgrades as 6S, Force Touch and Taptic, Rose Gold color available.

2016 may be the year the 4" model disappears and iPhone 6 internals (A8, M8) get crammed into a plastic housing, with the rest of the line up being iPhone 6S, iPhone 7 and 7 plus (A10, M10, new design), all with ForceTouch and Taptic Engine.

64-bit upgrade for the low-end

People with older or lower-end iOS devices (4, 4S, 5, 5C) are running 32-bit apps. Apple may want them to affordably update them to a 64-bit CPU, so they can eventually move to supporting only 64-bit Swift apps.

USB C is bigger than a Lighting connecter. Apple keeps pushing for thinner phones. Why would they use a thicker connector with a center male section? Lightning is sort of perfect for what Apple is doing.

I thought maybe you'd read something or seen some rumours. Didn't realise your statement was purely your opinion.

Nope. Short answer would be to look at how they did it w the iPad 2 which outlasted the iPad 3 and 4.

Btw apple hasn't called this 6c. It will prob be called 5Cs or something similar. You can't call something 6 w the size that was leaked as well.

Well Apple can call it whatever they want, it not being 4.7" or greater has no bearing on that.
