Why in the "h-e-dbl-hockey sticks" is this phone called "Pixel?" Google Pixel...

Guy one: "Yo, have you seen the Google Pixel?"

Guy two: "Nah, I really don't need a new photo editing programs. I pretty much use photo shop."

Guy one: :/

Google's branding department is what needs the true overhaul. Bad naming conventions aside, I look forward to seeing what Google will bring to the market.

Holy mother of bezels. Reminds me of

A rectangular device with rounded edges and stereo bottom-firing speakers? It's an iPhone - knockoff, just look at the design!!!

Wait. . . Super Cheap internal storage extension capabilities? A headphone - jack? Unlimited cloud storage for pictures? Well... This doesn't sound like Apple after all.

I liked my Nexus 4 and really liked my 5, 7 and 10, the only disappointment for me has been the cameras. I have always felt that they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the smartphone world by never topping out any of the features, giving something the others couldn't or wouldn't.

This though, if genuine (which it almost certainly must be) looks like some of the laziest design work by a competitor since the LandWind X7 plopped into existence. I am a big fan of the functionality Android gives me, but despair at the some of the decisions made by their product development teams.

Shame about the android. It actually looks halfway decent but it runs a crap Os.

Then again the reason it looks decent is it is a knock off of iPhone

Random specs that delight but overall a major let down. Giving Apple a year to take strides in iPhone and get away with the 7.

Google - is the Pixel intro just the Android introduction all over again? They seem to crack under pressure.

It does look a lot like an iPhone or generic phone. I am considering entering the market for a mobile device this fall/winter, so I will pay close attention to Google's event tomorrow.

It is difficult to distinguish between lots of smartphones nowadays. Samsung seems to have the current edge on industrial design, IMO.... but I am not enthused by their Touchwiz interface, nor the software and hardware locks on their devices.

My last two phones were Nexus models (Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 5). I am leaning hard towards a Nexus 6P if I can find one and a decent price in decent condition.

If the rumors are true about the Pixel/XL pricing ($600+), then that will disqualify them from my consideration.

It is difficult for me to think of a feature these phones could have that would justify spending MORE on my mobile device than on my last two laptops combined. Especially given the fact that there aren't any problems with my Nexus 5.

Why is the screen not further down the phone?

The iPhone doesn't due to the home button, so what's your excuse Google?

Because that's a form factor people know and love, despite pundits and bloggers trying desperately to convince them it's "boring".

Wait... No ugly Camera Flush??? How is this even posible????? Why can't apple design a phone without that ugly camera bump when other companies do ???

Very interested in this. I've had a play with a few Android-devices and I haven't found one with a high quality Apple-like feel, as in build materials, hardware-software integration. I'm hoping a Google developed phone will fix that last one. would love to either move away from Apple phones or for there to be such a decrease in its userbase that they start to push the market forward again.
Glad to see people are still sacrificing themselves for the greater good. Thank you.

Apple needs some serious competition; I'm curious about how these turn out. And by "serious" I mean "a high-end smartphone that doesn't explode (Samsung), run a sluggish (Samsung) or hideous (LG) overlay on Android, and isn't the messiest mobile OS ever (Windows phones)."

The more pressure they put on Apple, the faster Apple improves their product line (more storage, higher-resolution screens, better battery life, etc). Kind of like Microsoft's efforts in the tablet and laptop spaces these days.

Anyone else jazzed about this phone?! I hope that we see some really cool software features revealed tomorrow.

These... are just bad. The design is as uninspired as the dark ages when Android came about. I have to admit, the Nexus 6P is a very good looking phone (if crippled by that awful Snapdragon 810). These are like, a child's crayon scribble of what a low end HTC Desire phone would look like.
