A rectangular device with rounded edges and stereo bottom-firing speakers? It's an iPhone - knockoff, just look at the design!!!

Wait. . . Super Cheap internal storage extension capabilities? A headphone - jack? Unlimited cloud storage for pictures? Well... This doesn't sound like Apple after all.

You forgot the crappy UI performance, low quality app selection, exposure to malware, and ever-present all-encompassing hoarding of your personal data and activity.

Curious about battery life on this device, now that IPhone 7 battery life report is out and not looking good.

People keep saying it looks like an iPhone. I'm curious how they can *not* make it look like an iPhone and keep it simple and elegant.

HTC 10, LG V20, any of the Sony Xperia phones, and Galaxy S7 Edge.

Aside from the S7's steel frame, none of these phones look like the iPhone.

Comments like yours undermine the effort put into a product by designers.

Why is the screen not further down the phone?

The iPhone doesn't due to the home button, so what's your excuse Google?
Why would it be further down on the phone? It's where it is because it's centered on the device.

I don't understand why it looks like it does - the one advantage they have over the iPhone is that they don't need the massive top/bottom bezels because they have a software home button...yet they have them...for no apparent reason. Cut them in half then this is a pretty nice looking phone (and decently sized.)

Exactly, it just makes no sense. Whatever the intention, to someone on the outside looking in, this just completely looks like they ripped off the iPhone 6 design in a year when Apple has taken flak for continuing on with that design. I can't really fathom how the people in charge at Google looked at this and figured it was a good decision.

I was waiting for this phone but once I heard the rumored price, I took the plunge and bought an iPhone 7. Unless there are some excellent software features announced, I don't see how this can compete with iPhone at the same price point. And I am an android fan.

Th funny thing is that I switched to Android back in the day for a bigger screen, but now I switched back because there isn't much out there 5 inches or less anymore. I'd prefer to get a Moto Z, but it is too big for me. And I wouldn't get an S7 because of Touchwiz. So it was basically the Pixel or iPhone (maybe Sony, but reviews of that phone are mediocre at best). So iPhone it is.

If something is announced to justify the price point, I may return my iPhone, but at this point, I'm pretty happy with it. My battery life has been great.

It is better than an iPhone. It's got everything we wanted the iPhone to have.

Interesting...
Why have a 128 gb storage option with an SD card slot?
My ignorance of Android may be showing...
They probably wanted to give people a choice, like your computer eh, it's like why do you buy a 500 GB on a computer and then buy a USB stick

Glad to see people are still sacrificing themselves for the greater good. Thank you.
Well obviously it won't be this one. But maybe in a couple of years. Heck maybe they'll be a Samsung phone that doesn't just feel like creaky plastic.

Yes, there are people that will never move away from Android, so having another Samsung contender is a very good thing!

I can see the keynote now... "and it has a headphone jack!"... rubbing it in Apple's face. Leave it to Google execs to stoop so low... we shall see soon enough.
How is that 'stooping low'? It would be a fact. People have complained about the new iPhone not having one and this new phone does. It would be silly not to point it out.

You'll see the answer next year with next iPhone 8.

Then every one will converge in the same "inevitable " design that not one company but apple is able to figure out today.

I do like the design. I would like to play with another android, but I'm currently to happy with the apple ecosystem that it makes it hard to want to switch.

Other things to mention are that I find myself using 3D Touch more often and I don't think I want to give up such a simple luxury

First off, this phone was made by HTC which used their phone as a starting basis. And why does it look similar to an iPhone? Probably because Apple and HTC have a signed licencing agreement to use each others design. You didn'tt think Apple came up with the back antenna design on its own, did you? Yep, the iPhone 6 was an HTC rip-off to someone on the outside looking in.

Secondly, Google wanted Huawei to make the Pixel, not HTC, but Huawei refused. I'm sure compromises had to be made on Google's part, because HTC isn't as big of a company.

Lastly, I think the Pixel is one of the ugliest phones ever made. Google should have developed the Pixel in house like they did for their Pixel C tablet. Google needs to stop using other phone vendors and just start making their own phones.

You mean how apple will be copying the Samsung S design? An all glass design with curved edges on each side, considering Samsung is actually supplying them with the curved screens for the iPhone 8. Is that what you mean?

I thought the exact same thing. Phone looks awful imo.

Ask yourself why you buy an SD card for your laptop when you have 500 GB of storage on board, Hmmm wonder why

In the copying Apple theme, Alphabet Inc. has also just announced a[nother] name change: Applebet Inc.
