no bezels might look good, but can only be terrible usability-wise. small bezels are ok to grip the phone in landscape.

i wanted to go wit the regular pixel 2, but with those super huge bezels, i might reconsider and go huawei or so... they'd have to put in some extra stuff with the regular pixel 2 for me to buy it.

i'm happy with my nexus 5x, but i really really wanted the pixel 2 to have the design of the pixel 2 xl... :(

Fingerprint sensor on the back? That is a terrible solution that shows how far ahead Apple is. If Face ID had failed, Apple would have found a way to put it under the display as we now know was their back-up plan (not the other way around).

Lmao at the “notch” defenders. We all know you only like the notch because you want people to know you upgraded. Don’t wanna mistake that 1200$ phone for some other peasant phone!

That so-called horrible solution has worked well for many for the last few years. So please don't call something horrible that's absolutely a good experience for others just because you prefer touch ID or Face ID.

Looks way better than the iPhone X. I think I'm going back to an android os phone. I'm tired of apple holding features back from the smaller or regular size phones. Sony doesn't do that. I'm tired of apple Proprietary dongles and features they charge extra for or take away or don't include. Samsung doesn't do that.
But what's really driving me away from Apple is the iOS experience. I use to use iOS and think it was so smooth and wonderful but now i have to agree with Chris Parillo. iOS 11 is a nightmare and iOS in general has been incrementally worse since iOS 7.

I've been watching his videos on youtube lately and he's on point on a lot of things. He echoes many of the sentiments from customers who are concerned about Apple's direction.

Why did nobody mention that it doesn’t even have a dual camera setup for AR? When Google they themselves are pushing for AR too? Seems like an epic missed opportunity

WAIT until October 4th and Google will talk more about the new phone at their keynote. I'm quite sure it will handle AR just fine. Pre-judging the Pixel 2 when the iPhone X is coming out would be a mistake.

If Pixel 2 has a expansion slot for more storage, I'm going to laugh at the iPhone X buyers because the starting price is $649 and up which is cheaper than the X.

How do you active the rear wake button if the phone is in a cradle in a car?

I suspect they have that part figured out by letting the driver wave in front of the phone to unlock it. Waze on iPhone is owned by Google and this nav app allows you to wave in front of it to manipulate it. It stands to reason it will have a thumb ID reader on the back as usual and have something for the front with face scanning or just some form of motion control without touching the screen ( which by the way that Android phones have had for some time ).

Poverty 128GB storage.

No front facing speakers, no widgets, no smart sensing camera, no 128gb, no way to customize your phone, keep your boring apple.

Actually the iPhone does have a front facing speaker.

And not sure you read it but the top article on the homepage shows industry analysts say "TrueDepth Camera Gives Apple 2.5 Year Lead Over Android Competitors". The iPhone X camera is way ahead of the weak "smart sensing" camera on this Android phone.

And are you serious about complaining that there's no 128GB option with the iPhone X?! For a couple bucks more than Android charges you to go from 64GB to 128GB, Apple dives you 4x the storage with 256GB.

Maybe worth waiting till the 16th when the Huawei Mate 10 is released, if you're in the high end Android market.

Thank you Google. Makes my iPhone X purchase that much easier.

Just as a note search essential phone

They brought out the iPhone x style ages ago. Enjoy unlocking your phone with your face so when your mate unlocks it when your asleep you'll be thinking oh

Do you sleep with your eyes open? No? Then the phone won't unlock.

I find it funny that people get so upset with the release of a phone. When the iPhone X was announced people got grumpy and and now this haha.

I plan on getting the iPhone X and this. I usually buy the latest iPhone and have my job buy the latest Android phone (best Android phone Verizon carries) which this past year was the Pixel.

I think the Pixel is hands down the best Android phone. So I for one am excited for this. Looks great.

That is a weird place for the search bar considering the app launcher is now accessed with a swipe up on the icons.

Pixel gives free unlimited cloud storage at full resolution for photos and video.

"reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy S8" wouldn't it make more sense as the author to say "reminiscent of the LG G6, or V30" considering LG makes the device and it has obviously used the same design with a few tweaks to the rear. Give LG credit where it's due. Those are both great devices, as I'm sure this will be as well. Just as nearly all phones priced in these ranges, with these specs, regardless of OEM are capable great devices....yes even the iPhone X will be a great device....Comparing capabilities of smartphones in 2017 is almost a complete waste of time unless you have a brand obsession....a la "Mac" rumors. But if you are going to do so at least get the comparison right. The s8 looks nothing like this and this looks nothing like the s8.

It's there, it's not there. It's there, it's not there. Clock. No clock. Clock. No clock. Clock...

It's there, it's not there. It's there, it's not there. Dock. No dock. Dock. No dock. Dock...

Speak for yourself. I'm fine with these, I'll be fine with the notch.

Of course it does. Status bar info goes in the notch leaving the regular part of the display free for whatever you want.
I think what they mean is that the ears are only showing more screen on the home screen and even then, it's not adding anything as you can't add another row of icons because of it. When viewing content, there will be no difference in usable space in either phone as iOS will blacken the top bar and Android will scroll it away.
