I wonder if this is forewarning of the discontinuation of the Apple Watch.

It may be that Apple will now promote the Samsung Gear S2. It's certainly a much better-looking watch than the Apple Watch, sad to say.

LOLOLOLOLLLLLLLOOOOOOOLOLOL!

Apple sold over 10,000,000 Apple Watches in less than a year with 97% satisfaction ratings.
Samsung S2 is way behind the Apple Watch.

Your post has no logic or reasoning behind "Discintinuation of the Apple Watch." Better looking? The Gear S2 looks like my cheap Timex Iron Man watch I wear around the house. The Apple Watch is way more premium than the Gear S2.

Not to mention, Apple Watch 2 will debut this fall expectedly.

Not true, I have an Apple Watch Sport edition and it's not like the S2 looks cheaper next to next as you have said, actually if you compare the speed of both and I did by my own in a Samsung store u can notice the Samsung smart watch is faster and more intuitive, I've tested the iPhone 6S I own with the Samsung Galaxy s7 even thought I like more iOS I must say the new galaxy s7 is really pretty and the videos look awesome!!!

You mean that you, subjectively like the looks of it over the Apple Watch?

I, personally always find square/rectangular watches more attractive than round. And the busy nature of Samsung's hard face is too McGyverish for my taste. One of the reasons I don't like any of the Rolex or TAG Heuer watches. Too gaudy.

That's because it is from owning both of them, the Gear S2 is miles ahead OS wise. Very well designed for a watch, much better than Google Wear also.

Please explain how the OS is miles better.

Some say the OS is better but I disagree. I think the OS on the Gear may be easier to use AT FIRST because its so limited. The amount of Apps on the Galaxy Gear store is pathetic. But if you are happy with using a few Apps and having no new Apps going forward it may be okay. I guess a simple thing is better for some. But we could say the same thing about a feature phone.

IMO, the Gear S2 is like a feature phone. Easy to use but non-existant App store.

The Watch maybe harder to use at first but it has way more expandability. Just like how an iPhone is harder to use at first than a feature phone but so much more rewarding.

I have had the Watch for 5 months now. And I'm still adding new Apps to it. Amazing. I will be adding a new Sleep tracker App and Dark Sky. Not having a robust App store would be unacceptable to me.

I guess if you own a Samsung phone the S2 would be a decent choice. But if you have an iPhone not having Apple Pay, Siri, and a ton of other Apps would be nuts.

IMO the Gear S2 is just like the Pebble Watch. Very simple to use. But very limited.

From anyone else I would have detected some sort of irony, but based on your style of postings it seems you actually believe this...

One clarification to the original article. The Gear S2 works with android phones other than those made by Samsung. There is slightly more functionality with Samsung phones, but most things work just fine on other android phones running recent versions of android.

I think that the Samsung watch has only standard functions like calling, SMS. But it can't run the iOS apps on the watch like the Apple Watch for sure.

Are you serious? Why in the world would Apple promote Samsung's watch?

Dont worry about him. The guy hates Tim Cook for some reason. He got perma banned from AppleInsider last year. He really has a scary obsession with Tim Cook.

So the Samsung Gear S2 is basically a Pebble watch when used with an iPhone.

I'm really liking all this news about cross-compatibility. Let's work together!

sounds like Google propaganda to me.

Limited how? Limited functionality or fewer apps in the Samsung app store? If it's apps, you're right it more limited. But number of apps has never been an indicator of quality. Both Apple and Google's app stores have over a million apps but the vast majority are either crap or clones of quality/popular apps. Besides, quantity of apps doesn't begin to help the dog slow performance of 3rd party apps on the watch. Having thousands of slow apps is no better than having hundreds.

If you're talking watch functionality, I'd love to hear about those limitations.

I think so, yes.

Considering there are multiple companion apps for hardware that competes with Apple hardware on the AppStore, this isn't a big deal.

Apple won't block the app, S2 Watch owners must be quite looking forward to having better iPhone support...

It's a complete waste of money (which anyone is free to waste, of course) to buy a smartwatch that has limited functionality with the iPhone.
So you say. Some people might care more about looks (a round face) and not want all the bells and whistles of the Apple Watch. All depends on what you're use case is.

If paired with an iOS device, Android Wear cannot interact with notifications in any way, no Siri, no Apple Pay. Like someone said, basically like having a Pebble. So, yeah, pretty legit limitations.

I have the 3G version of this watch with AT&T. I gotta say, I love it way more than my Apple watch. I can run with it and not miss a call (and dont have to bring my phone). It has GPS so it maps my runs accurately etc. This watch + AT&T number sync is pretty awesome.

Do you need to get a secondary number for the watch or can calls be routed to the watch if you didn't have your phone? Thanks.
