So you say. Some people might care more about looks (a round face) and not want all the bells and whistles of the Apple Watch. All depends on what you're use case is.

There are countless analog watches that look better than pretty much any smartwatch. You're better off buying one of those than getting a limited Android Wear smartwatch for the iPhone, if you're into looks.

Limited how? Limited functionality or fewer apps in the Samsung app store? If it's apps, you're right it more limited. But number of apps has never been an indicator of quality. Both Apple and Google's app stores have over a million apps but the vast majority are either crap or clones of quality/popular apps. Besides, quantity of apps doesn't begin to help the dog slow performance of 3rd party apps on the watch. Having thousands of slow apps is no better than having hundreds.

If you're talking watch functionality, I'd love to hear about those limitations.

Seriously. Are you serious? Has not the iPhone/iPad taught you its all about the apps.

You seriously think Tizen will ever have even a fractions of the Apps the Watch will have? Samsung is having a hard time selling 1 million units a year. You really think App makers will waste time writing Apps?

All 3rd party Apps being slow is a myth. Dark Sky runs real fast on my Watch. And so does ESPN.

The lack of Apps is a deal breaker for many on the Samsung Gear.

On Samsung you get a choice of 1 or 2 apps for category. For Apple Watch you get 20 choices. Plus much better quality. Not to mention the Apple native Apps blow away the Tizen ones. Apple Pay, Siri, Apple Music, Activity, Messages, ect. Where's my quality sleep trackers on Tizen? Or weather Apps? Or score Apps? Boarding pass apps? Digital payment Apps for trains? Podcast Apps? Camera Apps? AppleTV remote?

Buying the Samsung product is painting yourself in a corner of very limited App selection. And we know how well Windows phone did with limited Apps.

You're discounting someone's desire to get notifications, etc. But to each their own

Forget this watch. What about the Samsung Gear 360 and Samsung Gear VR? Apple probably won't have any of this cool stuff for another decade.

those are tech nerd products.

You can get generic chinese brands action cameras for half the price.
VR is total nerd fest at this point.

If paired with an iOS device, Android Wear cannot interact with notifications in any way, no Siri, no Apple Pay. Like someone said, basically like having a Pebble. So, yeah, pretty legit limitations.
The quote didn't reference the S2 in relation to being paired with an iOS device. It was a blanket statement regarding limitations. Since nothing in the content nor context of the quote referenced iOS... yeah, not legit.

interesting! This is good :) We need more choices and Samsung is great at copying and then innovating (a little)

Competition is a good thing, and I'm not terribly interested in the Apple Watch at this time. Maybe by version three like Musk said :)

Tbh, the Apple Watch is pretty nerdy IMO. Smartwatches in general, are nerdy AF Lol. But be that as it may, the VR is badass. Nerdy or not, it's pretty damn cool. Oculus cinema is seriously one of the coolest tech things I've ever seen

So what you're saying is you were talking about Apps and not functionality. Got it. Back to apps. If you didn't present your completely made up numbers in such a factual manner, your points might gain credibility. There's no doubt about the limited number of apps for the watch. Claiming lesser quality is subjective. Considering every App you listed has an equivalent app for the S2, I'm not sure what your point is.

Thanks for clarifying what you meant by limited. For a minute I thought you were just talking about functionality.

I assumed that @warrior2000 was referencing the S2 on iOS, because obviousness.
Assumptions, hmmm. Well, considering he clarified in a follow up quote that he was referencing the limited number of apps in the Tizen app store... hindsight being 20/20 does make it pretty obvious.;)

So long as I can get notifications, that's fine. I don't need to respond to them. I never respond to them on my Apple Watch anyway.

I am pretty interested. I only use my Watch to read texts, Whatsapps, emails, and to check my calendar. Maybe this means I should just get a Pebble, but the Gear 2 is awfully tempting.

This is not an Android Wear device, and I'm not sure your statement regarding them is even accurate.

My Garmin gets reminders and notifications just fine, so there's no reason a Gear S2 couldn't. I would take GPS over Apple Pay, which is convenient enough on my phone for how often there is a compatible terminal, and always-wrong Siri, any day of the week.

Not true, I have an Apple Watch Sport edition and it's not like the S2 looks cheaper next to next as you have said, actually if you compare the speed of both and I did by my own in a Samsung store u can notice the Samsung smart watch is faster and more intuitive, I've tested the iPhone 6S I own with the Samsung Galaxy s7 even thought I like more iOS I must say the new galaxy s7 is really pretty and the videos look awesome!!!

The Gear S2 make not FEEL cheap when comparing to the Apple Watch, however, it LOOKS cheap with its overall non-distinctive shape, as I stated earlier, it looks like a every cheap Timex or Casio bland plastic watch on the market, and it does not scream "What makes the S2 stand apart from the competition.". Its only my opinion, but the feel and look of the 316 L stainless steel Apple Watch is on another level than the S2. I am not commenting on the software of the S2, only the aesthetic appeal. I am owner of the Stainless Steel Apple Watch and it feels very premium, even more so to the Apple Watch Sport with the Aluminum model. The stainless steel feels more substantial, even with its steep price point. I am not saying the Gear S2 is a "Cheap Watch", it just appears cheap looking.

I'm not interested in a Samsung phone but I do like how they display apps 1001% better than Apple's cluttered GUI. Contacts on AW is like this, so why not apps too? It would add continuity as well as increase ease of use.

Being well middled-aged I need tiny icons well spaced apart and orderly which is the opposite of Watch OS. Fortunately aside from apps that push notifications to me I don't really use apps -- maybe because its too much work for me.

I have the 3G version of this watch with AT&T. I gotta say, I love it way more than my Apple watch. I can run with it and not miss a call (and dont have to bring my phone). It has GPS so it maps my runs accurately etc. This watch + AT&T number sync is pretty awesome.

I use mine with the Note 5. I like that I can still use the watch while my Note 5 has been sent in for repairs.

Your post has no logic or reasoning behind "Discintinuation of the Apple Watch." Better looking? The Gear S2 looks like my cheap Timex Iron Man watch I wear around the house. The Apple Watch is way more premium than the Gear S2.

Not to mention, Apple Watch 2 will debut this fall expectedly.
My Gear S2 doesn't look like any Timex Iron Man i've ever had. I am curious where you got yours at.

Do you need to get a secondary number for the watch or can calls be routed to the watch if you didn't have your phone? Thanks.

My Gear S2 has its own number. AT&T's numbersync automatically syncs your phone number with the watch though. That way you can answer a call on your phone or watch. Also when you are away from your phone you can make calls with just the watch.

I have to agree about the VR. I have the Gear VR. Everyone i've showed it to loves it. My son has been hinting about the Oculus Rift for his upcoming birthday. I would love to check it out.

I can't help but think Apple Watch adoption would be a whole lot quicker if it actually looked like a watch. I think Jony Ive fundamentally misunderstood that watches are above all jewellery at this point. They should either look funky and fashionable, or high end and classy. Samsung are doing classy here and to be frank the Apple Watch is incapable of competing. It looks like a bloated square devoid of design.

I know looks are subjective, but with the iPhone 6 and now the Apple Watch I fear Jony's gift for making beautiful objects may have left him.

I absolutely loathe how the Apple Watch looks and do not care about Siri or Apple Pay, so this cannot come soon enough.
