The punt of money and time required to create the plastic case even if it's a one off test makes me believe it's real. The opening on topmost for the 3G antenna.

You could make these type of plastic cases overnight with the right machinery as prototypes.

this is what I meant by bezel (unless it is know by another name), and maybe I mis-spoke, what I meant to say is that I think it will adopt a more low profile bezel like the current iPhone and iPod touch, and not completely go away.

Interesting and that makes a lot of sense. The size reduction is only a few millimeters and I was wondering why such a minor change but if they are going for a glass to the edge look with the metal undercut instead of enclosing it that would make perfect sense. I just hope it is as durable as the old style. Maybe if they use Gorilla Glass in the new version.

Alibaba is a Chinese giant on the Net.
It's not a small website, everybody knows Alibaba in the industry.
In 2009 they had revenue for about USD 600M that in China is a lot ... a lot of money.

600M is a lot by anyone's standards

honestly, what have we learned from this leak that wasn't obvious already:

-lighter
-thinner
-camera (FaceTime)
-no more bezel (like the iPhone 4 and 4th Generation iPod touch)
-no more curved design (like the iPhone 4 and 4th Generation iPod touch)

as well as the more likely to happen:
-more ram
-faster processor
-Apple's version of Retina Display for the iPad (not 4x the pixels like the iPhone/iPod touch, but definitely a higher ppi to make text and images look better)
-better battery life (just because they can)

I could see the advantage of being lighter, but it's pretty much flat as a pancake (stack of 2 pancakes?) already. But Apple products rarely get thicker as time goes on :p

If it had those basic improvements (and maybe a $100 drop?) I would be sold. I'm sure there will be other unforeseen additions as well, if only software. I could definitely see Apple wanting to keep their market share advantage by being very competitive with pricing.

I wouldn't expect a price drop. I think it's more likely that we'll see the same price points with higher capacity. Something like $499 for a 32GB model, $599 for 64GB, and $699 for 128GB. Now where we might see a price drop, and I'd love it if we did, is in the 3G premium, maybe $80 instead of $130? They'd likely sell more 3G models that way...

I think the iPad 2 needs more software improvements than hardware changes. While I do want to see changes to the bezel (who wouldn't want less bezel?), I don't think the iPhone 4 design translates well to the way people hold and use an iPad. I think a textured bezel would improve usability because then your thumbs would "know" where the bezel ends and the screen starts, which would avoid things like accidental page turns in ebooks.

I've compiled my personal top 10 wishlist items, including thoughts on redesigning the home screen, how to re-introduce an easily-accessible orientation lock without adding another hardware control, and how to make web browsing more enjoyable.

Nice save. You get extra points for absolving Apple. Never forget Apple is perfect.

China is well-known for their respect of patent and copyright laws as well as confidentiality agreements. We all just assumed Apple was the leaker here. Clearly.

Someone makes a cheap plastic cas with an opening for a camera and we say this is an iPad 2?

I seriously dont see how this is an iPad 2, when an Ipad 1 (listed below) looks exactly like the ipad in the YT video.
