Eh. Same old same old just in a different body. What will this phone do different that the the X from 3 years ago couldn’t? I’ll probably buy one anyways, but still!

Doubt a single generation of CPU can boost the battery by a few hours. 5-10% at most.
The cpu efficiency from 7 to 5nm...will be erased by promotion...so the 6.7" and promotion will have almost the same battery usage as the current 11 pro max....maybe even 1 hour less...because with the same battery capacity, you cannot make it even just with the cpu going from 7nm to 5nm...when you go 120hz variable refresh rate+ an extra 0.2" display

This may get confusing like the iPad line was.

So we will have two iPhone Pros. One Max and one smaller.

We will then have a iPhone 12, one smaller and one mini?

Then we will have the the SE and I’m sure they will keep some of the 11 models.

Nothing is confusing there tho.

SE is the obvious budget at $399.

11 are previous generation.

the 12 will have two sizes for each version.

But this is stainless steel and glass so it won‘t be light like the iPhone 5.
how can a phone this big...even with glass and almuinium to be as light as the iphone 5?! he just talked about the design and thats all....but again, this is more like iphone 4...since the iphone 5/5s was a two-tone colour with glass and aluminium on the back and here we have stainaless steel frame with glass front and back (back with aluminium effect ,so still no fingerprint magnets but Qi charging)

silly having a camera bump, may as well make the phone that thickness all over and have even more battery
The battery life on their Max phones is already VERY good.
If you personally feel that a solid huge slab of metal & glass isn’t heavy enough for you... how about buying a thick heavy case & attaching some fishing sinkers to it? Since more battery life is definitely not a concern on this device- that should take care of your thickness/weight desire! =)

exactly if the phone's battery life is as good as the 11 series then no problem with it being lighter/thinner

If the phone is 7.4mm thick, and the camera bump is 1.26mm, then the phone is actually 8.66mm thick.

I think there's room to argue that either way. From my perspective, I care about the thickness of a phone only in the context that it may have some effect on how easy it is to grip the phone. In that regard, the thickness of the camera bump isn't relevant.

Yes?

I might could make peace with the camera situation. Looks like all other gripes are being addressed.

I’m listening. Please, continue.

The Smart Connector has pique our curiosity and hopefully we'll see an answer soon.

I agree and like that idea. I'd want a longer battery life too but not at the cost of short lifespan since I plan to keep my next phone for at least another 3-4 years.

For sure!
I agree with reviewers that the heft of iPhones makes them feel more “premium” than a similar sized plastic Android... but that feeling only goes so far.
if you briefly try to put an iPhone in a front shirt pocket to free up your hands for a sec, & you see its impression of the leaning tower of Pisa- it reminds you of the weight!

I don't think it would be too bad. if you look at the product lineup on Apple's page - it seems very straight forward. The size variants are treated as options on a given device - so initially your are only shown 4 devices:

With this new generation, both 12 Pros could go in the 11 Pro spot, both 12's would go in the 11 spot, the SE would obviously stay and if they kept the 11 it would take the Xr spot (with the Xr being killed off). So the lineup would basically look identical.

You overestimate the average consumer.

I used to sell phones. Explaining 3 options was bad enough.

This doubles that confused.

In a way I agree, but at the same time you can see they’re trying to cover a large range of price points.

I mean, just few years ago we had a lineup of:

SE
6s (2 sizes)
7 (2 sizes)
8 (2 sizes)
X

Even right now we have:

SE
XR
11
11 Pro (2 sizes)

This fall would potentially be:

SE
11
12 (2 sizes)
12 Pro (2 sizes)

Not much different from iPads or Macs to be fair.

Meh... it'll be fine.

The first thing people should consider is how much money they want to spend.

I don't think there are many people cross-shopping the $400 iPhone SE with the $1,000+ iPhone Pro series. That'll reduce the number of options dramatically.

Besides... have you shopped for anything else lately? How do people walk into a shoe store with literally hundreds of choices? Do they cripple with indecisiveness?

How about shopping for a TV? Or washers and dryers?

Or... gasp... Android phones? With a dozen different manufacturers... each with multiple models?

Suddenly... Apple's iPhone lineup looks simple by comparison! :p
