Without knowing any further details, it being reduced to just 4 USB-C ports, this is as much a "pro" computer as a Corolla Sport is a sports car. But at least Toyota doesn't charge Porsche prices just because it has "sport" in the model name or tell the owner they can track it with the stock components.

What I expect is a similar configuration to the current MBP. Dongles are annoying and it's a pro machine and priced accordingly. Low port is acceptable on the MB and Air because those are designed as consumer laptops and marketed as thin and light. Pros want power and convenience above all else, even if it's .5" thicker and 2lb heavier. C'mon Apple get with the program and give us a computer worthy of the MBPs lineage. Otherwise just rename the MacBook Pro the MacBook Hermes.

Let's face it,  is consumer focused, not pro focused. I think they should try and appeal to both, but what do I know?

Isn't SD sort of the consumer-ish memory card anyway? Pro dSLRs are sticking with Compact Flash/CFast...

Yeah, even though I use SD, I'm fine with them leaving it out. I also use CF and there are so many other card types that this makes sense. Can't wait to see what the guts are like - RAM and storage. Am I the only person who would love 2TB of storage as an option?

Where's the SD card slot? That's something that a Pro machine should not be without.

Usage data shows very very few actually use the SD slot.

Get rid of the pieces few use. An SD reader can be had for a couple bucks. Removing it saves weight for the other 99.9% of users, lowers costs, increases battery life, and leaves more room internally for other things (including a larger battery).

I am still excited to see this one, but don't expect to be eager to buy it.

Doesn't that really sum up all of Apple products these days. I think there are a lot of us "old timers" here who were serial updaters or jealous when it wasn't the right time for us. Everything I see now is just one big pile of meh. I detest Windows, so not going there, but I feel like one -- update only when the machine breaks or is unusable. Apple sans Jobs has sucked all the joy out of its products.

I understand no MagSafe being a complaint, but at least the adapter isn't the size of the Apple TV like my current one feels

Looks like the MacBook setup.

Most likely.

Well it used to be that when I needed a laptop I just went and bought the top of line at Apple. Did not really need to think about it. But if these rumors are true, then this is not a pro laptop. You cannot touch type an OLED panel. I don't want to carry around a bunch of dongles. I don't want it so thin and light that the wind blows it off the desktop when someone walks by. I don't want to lose it on the floor when a workmate trips over the cord (since I always share a table in an overcrowded conference room with cords all over the floor.) Some of us don't work in 20 x 20 ft offices with power receptacles in the desktop.

Seriously though -- you don't realize how great Magsafe is until it's gone. You can easily snap that little connector in place with two fingers, and there's even a helpful little light to tell you at a glance whether you're fully charged or not. One of the things that irked me about the Retina MacBook while I had it was the was the dumb USB-C charger that had none of these features.
Perhaps that's the whole idea. Accidental damage not covered by care

How about Apple including a flush-thin USB-C to Magsafe converter, so that one can attach magsafe to either side?

ports are oddly positioned and spaced, i dislike the big left/right arrow keys, using windows without physical F keys might be awkward.
but besides all this, just bring on the damn new pros!!

edit: headphone jack in the far back near the screen?!?

i hope it's fake or a prototype

I really don't understand how so many of you are upset (or surprised) that they are going with all TB3 setup, it's better in all ways. The only loss is MagSafe but I'll be buying the break safe from griffin so not really worried about it.

I was actually worried that apple would not decide to go all USB C for the new laptops, 4 connectors should be more then enough.

Going to wait until WWDC to be sure but it's looking pretty solid that the 15 inch version of this will be a day one buy for me.
