Many people on here are complaining about no MagSafe, yet at the same time so many people have also complained over the years that MagSafe has existed that the connectors are unreliable and fail too easily. So which one do you want...do you want MagSafe and the issues there have been with those connectors, or do you want a different power solution that could potentially be more resilient? What's so great about MagSafe anyway that makes such a deal breaker for so many of you?

Lots of folks are also complaining about a lack of SD card reader, but when it really comes down to it, how many people that might buy this computer still use SD cards? I'm a power user myself, but almost never use an SD card. The only time I do is on the rare occasion that I get out my point and shoot camera and in that case, it doesn't bother me in the least to get out my USB SD card reader or just connect the camera directly with USB. Sure, I understand that a certain percentage of the user base are either professional or very avid amateur photographers that really enjoy having a built in SD card reader, but again, that is a small percentage of the user base.

Lastly, quite a few folks have also hinted at a lack of innovation here. If you think that, then what do you want to see that would signal innovation??? Everyone complains when Apple makes changes to their machines, but yet they want innovation. News flash...generally speaking, innovation = change. You can't have it both ways. Besides, this rumor shows a ton of possible innovation, IMHO.

Yeah, who needs ports when the computer needs to be thinner? I mean, 1 cm is sooo thick and 1.5 kg for a pro-grade computer is so heavy my muscles are starting to crack!

This looks way too weird however. I hope it's fake.

These images never seem to be fake anymore. Apple used to fake out suppliers to catch the ones that leak.

Make it slower with crappier battery life and call it a pro! That's the way, uh huh uh huh, I like it, uh huh uh huh.

What exactly makes this so much different then the current? the touchbar?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Doesn't that really sum up all of Apple products these days. I think there are a lot of us "old timers" here who were serial updaters or jealous when it wasn't the right time for us. Everything I see now is just one big pile of meh. I detest Windows, so not going there, but I feel like one -- update only when the machine breaks or is unusable. Apple sans Jobs has sucked all the joy out of its products.

I am not an old timer and in fact pretty young, so I have a completely different viewpoint. I am getting more joy out of my newer Apple products than I ever got out of my older Apple products. The fact that the new MBP will drop the HDMI port or the SD Card reader is not that important to me frankly. People are using their systems differently and have adopted different workflows than were common in the past, but that doesn't mean they are any less deserving of the Pro moniker. Things change, and I think switching to USB-C for everything is a good decision. It's a new standard, but it will nonetheless take over, right?

The "old timers" need to learn to embrace the time they are living in rather than romanticizing the past in my opinion. Oh, and I don't know what Jobs has to do with anything. If were still alive, Apple would probably be embarking on the exact same course. Under his tenure, Apple removed the floppy, old Apple IO, and the optical drive.

So this is why iPhone 7 is not getting any major redesign until next year... from a $$$ perspective, the Macbook Pro will holds it's own. Looks like this year is the year of the Macbook. Next year will be the year of the iPhone.

This makes a lot of sense. The F keys and their system mapped keys (brightness, volume, exposé, etc) have changed positions more than anything else over the years. This would allow the user to move them where they want them and an OS update could change them to a new layout. I like that idea a lot.

No MagSafe????? :'(

Okay, at the risk of being eviscerated (and not directed specifically at you, maclaw21, but rather open for discussion to everyone who has commented on the lack of MagSafe), when was the last time your Macbook was really in danger of the power-cord-stuck-to-the-computer-when-someone-walks-by-thereby-pulling-the-machine-off-the-table accident? Seriously.

For some (few), this is a legitimate risk, and for them, there is an adapter. But, I would put my money on the fact that, for the vast majority of us, our computers are no longer at real risk for an accident via a hard-connected power cable.

Now, I'm open to being wrong about this. Discuss amongst yourselves.

Am I the only one glad that the chassis wont be tapered like the Macbook?

The tapered design is like intentionally underpowering the machine with the same footprint (to satisfy Ive's obsession with thinner and lighter) and is definitely not what we expect on a rMBP. Very glad to see that it's not happening.

I'm fine with all this ,but I need 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM for like $1500. Or at least 500G + 16GB. (or give me a base model that I can upgrade down the road) If you want $2300+ for that (and it's not upgradable), then go pound sand.

Yeah i agree. What makes this radically different from the current version? The most significant design change undertaken by Apple. Seriously? Now if the screen becomes an infinity screen without the huge black boarders.... now that would be better.... but still nothing "significant" compared with competition.

I think like once this was an issue for me, but overall - no. I do really, really love the quick connect/disconnect, just in terms of getting up from my desk to move to another location. Is it really that big a deal? I guess not, but it's so d*mn cool and easy -- it'd be a shame to lose it.

Pretty sad, but I don't use my mac any more. My iPhone 6+ is now my computer. My mac has been delegated to file sever/print server. I've given up 3D modeling & God forbid rendering. I've changed my computer habits (less creation... No more making of websites).

I no longer sit behind a GD desk staring at a monitor. I can now lie down and stare at an incredibly sharp beautiful screen.

The mac's days are numbered. The writing is on the wall.

Yea, I hear that. It's a nice feature that they are eliminating. I think it's outlived its usefulness for its original purpose, but, that aside, it is convenient.

I was under the impression that the Skylake CPUs will support only 2x TB3 lanes rather than 4x (can't find info; please correct me if I'm wrong).

If that's the case, will it mean that not all of the 4 USB-C ports are equal?

I'm hoping this is fake. I wish they'd stop going down the fashion model avenue and trying to make things thinner. There's nothing wrong with a thicker laptop if it has the power.

I think the Pro is just a name these days.

Guess I'll be sticking with my 2012 MBP for another year.

How cute of you, thinking they will allow you such freedom to modify the layout.:D

How about and HDMI port? I'm constantly in need of connecting my Mac to a projector or an external Monitor, and I would greatly appreciate not needing to carry converters all around.

But as someone else said before, just give us reasonably priced SDD storage.:(

No MagSafe, no SD-card slot... *sigh*

Why, Apple, do you hate us?

As we can see, they managed to strip the display and it's even thinner now! If we need a display, we can plug in an external one right next to the card reader. The new ports are perfect for that! :D

No thunderbolt and no SD slot (+ no magsafe ) = no buy for me. If the USB-C ports work with my Thunderbolt 2 accessory then I'm ok.. but a MacBook Pro needs an SD card slot

Holding out hope that the 15" keeps the SD slot. That little port is invaluable to a photographer on the go.

Personally, I would love a thinner MacBook Pro.

But I would go for a thicker model if it makes them a little less expensive. Current models are way to expensive for what they offer. I've always accepted paying a premium for Apple products, but lately, their premium is becoming way too much.
