#4. Apple is ramping up production of hundreds of thousands of iPhone 5s in preparation of the launch next month... some parts are going to slip out.

arn

That wouldn't explain the OP's intimation that the frequency of leaks is significantly higher than for past incarnations of the iPhone - Apple ALWAYS ramps up production of "hundreds of thousands of iPhones" - so what?

Has someone quantified it to show that the frequency has actually increased? Seems the same to me.

Two possibilities I see. As that user mentioned that they were more afraid of Steve, since maybe because of Steve Jobs' personality, stubbornness and his "it's my way or the highway" approach gave the impression that he wouldn't care the consequences and do something reckless like cutting them off, take a HUGE hit and start from square one with a new supplier.

Steve would not be foolish enough to rely on his reputation to keep suppliers in check. Contracts are the way to do that. The only way to do effective business with third parties is by effective contracts. Why do you think we are currently having this patent war? It's all about rules on paper. I haven't seen any company being afraid to sue Apple just because Steve is/was at the helm.

OR (as I've been thinking about this lately) could it be that now the releases are so close to the Announce date that they need to start production so early that it's inevitable that these parts become leaked. Before (And I'm not 100% certain, I haven't researched every product launch) they would announce a product and release it farther down the road, maybe a month or so. This way, mass production would only start days or weeks prior to the announcement. Seems now they announce a product and "you can place your order for it today!".

Rumors are that the launch is a few weeks later than the announcement as was the case with many iPhone launches. Only with first product introductions there was a wait of a few months. The most likely reason for the high amount of leaks is that the dimensions of iPhone production has increased due to widening of the global scope and popularity increases. Whereas the iPhone 2G launch was confined to the USA, the iPhone 3G was launched in about 8 countries. This is in stark contrast with the iPhone 4S which saw an almost global launch. Apple has now contracted dedicated factories for iPhone production, whereas the first iPhones were probably made on a production line next to Samsungs in the same factory.

Higher numbers -> higher probability of leaks.

See above.

Fake

The logic board does not fit at all...except if you ...mirror it with photoshop.

Photo 1 has the logic board with the metal protector facing the camera (as it is put in the case). Though the circuit has an edge upper right, while when put in the case this edge has to to be upper left.

The image has been mirrored

Lol it's not fake. These leaks happen every year. And the parts that leak are always for the new iPhone coming out.

Apple is not putting these leaks out. The iPhone is going on sale September 21 therefore they have to ramp up production. They work with so many factory employees that something is just bound to leak.

It's a 100% fake...open your eyes. the logic board is mirrored to fit in the case

Soooo, someone just spent tens of thousands of dollars to produce a fake logic board? If not, what Apple product is this for? And I'm pretty sure I read that they mirrored it intentionally for some reason....but I may be recalling incorrectly.

Sorry lolfake, but you'll find out soon enough that you are mistaken. These leaks happen every year. We are all familiar now with the pattern and what an iPhone logic board looks like. There's no real reason to doubt this....even if there were some PS manipulation.

If you ask me, I think it'll be called "The new iPhone".

Why? Because iPhone 5 doesn't sound appealing at all, the whole 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S pattern has become old and worn out,
that's why I believe they will find another name or as I said above, simply call it "The new iPhone"
