Is there any point in purchasing the 12? I usually upgrade every year, but thinking I'll just wait the 9 months for a 13...its not like the 12 looks to have any worthwhile features & appears to be a bit of a yawn fest.

Its also not like 5g is of any use either, it's still limited availability & a lot of us just work from home with high speed internet anyway..

I store no media on my iPhone. I stream everything and all my pics are neatly organized in Dropbox. 64 GB is more than enough. Some of you need to rethink how you save your media on your iPhone.

You only store it on Dropbox? What happens if Dropbox dies one day, or you lose account access? Crazy to think that you only store it in the cloud and only 1 location..

I store on the phone, locally, cloud & offsite..

I wilk probably go for 128 GB again. I have more apps than I want and quite a few movies and pictures. Still 57 GB free. I will manage a few more years with 128 GB and my iCloud storage. If it’s cheap for 256 GB I will future proof my needs..

64gb will probably actually suit most people.

I’m a more tech savvy user and I have a 64GB X and it’s okay. I don’t use optimise storage and have like 1500 photos. I’m pushing the limits so I’ll be upgrading this year.

Im sure most people would actually be fine with 64GB.

Dropbox isn’t going anywhere. I seriously doubt I would every lose access to my account. All my media is backed up onto an external HD.

If by crippled you mean less featureful because it’s at least $250 cheaper, of course.

Compared to iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro, the iPhone 12 mini is definitely a downgrade.

I don't think value for money is their issue, I think their problem, like mine, is that they don't want the small model to necessarily be the cheap model.

I wouldn't mind paying more for an "iPhone pro mini". It's not really the cost I'm after, it's the fact that you can't get a small Pro. I've had the latest iPhone more or less since the 3GS, but since the 6 I felt the size have been to just a bit too big. Always dreamt of an edge to edge display in an iPhone 5 case <3

Ah, ninjad!

I am also fine with 64GB of storage, but it's not really any of our business how other people save their media is it? Maybe they have good reasons.

What is the use in all that space on a phone? I don't understand...
I will say for mine I never delete messages unless they are one off's or super old. I have 60gb stored in just messages alone (its nice to search for stuff). Also, I record in 4k, which means that for every minute of video it takes up 1gb of storage. I do not pay for icloud storage. I also download spotify playlists and sometimes netflix movies if I have to travel. more storage is always a good thing IMO. Storage should be cheap

I hate that the mini is gonna be "crippled" compared to the pro. For me it's the seems like the most ideal phone size and it's frustrating that camera, display etc seems to be subpar compared to the pro 😢 (currently on iPhone 11 Pro so feels like a downgrade in a way)

You don’t have to buy a new phone every year if you don’t want to

Have iPhone launches of the past few years including factory-unlocked models on the same day the models tied to carriers are released? Or do we still have to wait a few weeks for the unlocked models?

Yes, but not always or for all models. I was going to buy a Xr, but the unlocked version wasn’t available at release, so I went with the Xs which was. Some times they make you wait and other times it is available. I think they try to base it on estimated demand.

I don’t get MacRumors continuing to give Prosser lots of free publicity, in spite of being wrong, arrogant and obnoxious.

You want an Apple rumours site that doesn't report on rumours, especially from a source who has a track record of providing some valid rumours, even if they're not consistent? Try www.apple.com

I think the question should be, is there any point in getting the Pro.

I’m sorry but Apple have failed to make any convincing argument about the benefits of Lidar with the last iPad Pro.

120hz pro-motion is out the window too.

as somebody who isn’t getting the max model , what’s the £100’s extra for? A telephoto lens?

would love to know everybody’s thoughts. Based on what we know so far (which I concede is rumour), what is drawing you to the Pro model?

64GB is just fine as a starting point for basic model. I never went over 55GB on my 1st gen SE, that's with latest half year of my photos/videos locally, a lot of music and more apps that I actually need. After subscribing to Apple Music and a little bit of "optimisation" of apps, I'm currently on 40GB. With cloud photos I might even manage with 32 GB model, but that would be really pushing the limits and not worth it.

Anyway, 50$ extra for 128 is IMO fair price, if you really need it. For expensive pro models it is definitely correct that they start with at least 128.

The problem is for people who spend time travelling through low quality signal areas, when it’s nice to have bigger local storage. I speak from personal experience of patchy mobile signals.
