Pros just love black, and casuals love colour.
In all seriousness, this makes sense for differencing the machines.
Exactly my thinking. Just because the iMac has them doesn't mean the MacBook Air will. Colours seems a dead cert but it wouldn't surprise me to see these more inspired by the iPad Air and mini, with mute pastel colours and black bezels (probably with a notch)
i agree with this, put any color your want on the casing, please do not touch on the keyboard and bezel area.Exactly my thinking. Just because the iMac has them doesn't mean the MacBook Air will. Yeah, I have an 11" one. Super portable, lightweight and decently powerful (back then).Th silver MacBook airs for last decade are just spectacular, brilliant and have a nicer silver finish,
or that is just me?

If at least they released a 16inch MBA, then I'd have a hard time deciding whether to get it or not, as a 16inch MBA is exactly the laptop I'd want, so I'd be trying to convince myself whether I can live with the notch or not. But if it's going to be 14inch, and with a notch, I'll pass.
I pity Apple users stuck with notches. It is the triumph of mediocrity. Welcome to new the Apple!I pity folks stuck with Surfaces. From my experience they are neither a good tablet nor PC and prone to failure. YMMV.
I’m on the same train as you (thinking of getting an M2 or M3 MacBook) but I’m afraid almost all the chances are on the white bezels & white keyboard. And the notch is still very likely but maybe, just maybe, we can avoid it if the engineers decide to put a worse camera and/or thicker bezels.I intend to buy the new iteration of the MacBook Air (M2) but I would really prefer a black keyboard and border. I'm hoping that Apple will use the black keyboard as a cost saving measure because they could use the same keyboard for the MBA and MBP.
Seriously, this looks 10 times better than the notch on the 'pro books. I think because they try to get rid of the bezel by making it thin and dark, so the notch is jarring, where as with white bezels it's not trying to hide anything, and looks more by-design. Not sure, but it does look better. It looks really great IMHO.
Price!- Colours with white bezels for ‘non-pro’ products
- Space grey/silver with black bezels for ‘pro’ products
That wasn’t complicated, was it?
In the Fall, with the release of the M2, I think we'll see the return of the "MacBook" in 12" and 14" sizes to replace the 13" MBP. In the meantime, the Air will get a design/color upgrade, but not much else will change.
