How does the Nomad compare to the Apple one in terms of feel?

Got the Apple Leather and it’s disappointing how sticky it gets at times. Thinking of getting the Nomad but worried that the feel is not much improved over the Apple one and that it’s significantly heavier/thicker.
tbh

if you hate the sticky feel, you will like the nomad because the part you grip with your fingers (on the sides) is TPU so it won't get sticky. Yet you'll still feel the leather on the back.

I don't get the sticky feeling of the Apple leather because my hands aren't that oily so I prefer the Apple. The Nomad is still pretty good though.

I've been lurking around this forum, reading at other's comments, and will now post for the first time the results with my case. Apple Golden Brown case for iPhone 13 after 3 months use. I took off almost all the coating after month 1. I first used alcohol (and sometimes oxygenated water) and rubbed with a cloth. The results were not great and it was taking me too long, so then I actually started using a Dremel and the soft cotton disc that comes with it. Soaking in alcohol and then putting against the leather in the lowest speed setting. Being careful not to damage the case and obviously taking off the phone from it. It became spotty but it worked to take off the coating. My last resource was to go buy 1000 and 2000 water sandpaper and uniformly sand around the areas that still had the orange coating, together with adding more alcohol so the coating would come off. I then let it dry and after a couple days of use the patina started to appear and it became shiny from where the hand grip is. I might have been too rough with the case bc the apple logo almost disappeared. Also, the buttons and trim around the camera still show the orange coating. However, I am very happy with the result and do not plan on buying any of the third party cases. As I prefer the fit of the Apple one and the fact that the case wraps and protects the bottom edge.

It's not sticky that's for sure, main reason I swapped, i'd held off because the buttons were stiff on last few years cases, not now they are perfect.
The back is smooth and the sides have grip, they are rubber sides which I like as moist/wet hands don't matter, and I like how the case wrap the front of screen doesn't show the SS band around the front.
It's not thicker just a bit taller, I posted a photo of the 2 side by side if you search it up.
Looks better with a GSP too.
Highly recommend this years Nomad.

the leather looks good, the baby poo brown camera ring and buttons not

I can’t stand the nomad buttons…yes they’re super clicky and responsive now, but they also feel like a cheap mess! They rattle and feel very cheap. ??

Has anyone noticed their Apple Leather cases getting "sticky" over time or developing black marks specifically around the edges on the screen side? I wonder if this is happening to mine due to heat or something

Two very well-documented issues. There’s much better leather available for comparable prices.
This….if you scroll back in the thread, I show some photos of the Alpine Green leather Apple case I had. I never dropped it or mishandled it, and one morning it had a pretty big gash in the bottom left corner. Was sticky which I didn’t mind, but it’s basically leather Play-Doh.

I got bored of the rustic brown nomad and gave into getting the golden brown for the 13PM. Really hope it doesn’t turn out ugly with the corners. Does leather conditioner help with the patina process? Just afraid of using the alcohol wipes incorrectly and ruin a $60 case. Thanks!

I haven’t seen a single Apple case with a good patina that wasn’t forced/treated. I’d return it and stick with the Nomad or order from Ryan London.

Yours is going to be no different than any of the golden brown cases posted throughout this thread unfortunately. I say, still enjoy the case for what it is.

Anyone getting the Spigen Enzo for iPhone 13? It was launched few days ago and had very less media presence.

Edit: nvm…someone posted about it pages back.

How are the leather cases against alcohol based sanitiser? In a world of COVID, I’m thinking these sanitiser will spoil the leather.

I got a uv sanitizer for like $20 on Amazon and it works great. Just stick your phone in and it takes a minute but it kills all of the germs. You can also get a UV sanitizing wand, if you prefer that.
