My slippers are brown. Umber more red?

Fine looking slippers.

I have never tried the nomad but was thinking I wouldnt like the tpe all around edges. Maybe someone can speak to that.
I’m a leather guy and prefer the Bullstrap form factor but if I had to choose a backup it would be my Nomad. The sides have a matte finish that feels very nice to me. Also, despite the fashion faux pas the brown and dark grey combo looks really sharp IMO.

Honestly I couldn’t stand the nomad because of the tpu edges and the case is bulky imo. But to each their own. I know a lot of people love nomad cases. I’m a Bullstrap fanatic now.

Alpine green 13 pro max with a sierra green apple leather case used for about 4 months. It looks pretty good in person.

Got this case off eBay a couple of days ago and it’s aged nicely. Maybe it belonged to a member here on macrumors?

Got my wisteria leather case for my pink 13 mini on sale. I have the wisteria wallet which I tried to force patina earlier this year (and looks awful). I have read a lot of reports on how bad these cases patina, but anyone with experience on the wisteria?

I think Nomad cases are disgusting. The appeal of a leather wrapped case is ruined if the leather is just on the back and the rest is black plastics. The black edges look terrible And ruin the feel.

Apple’s leather sucks now and peels and chips off. This year, I’ve pre-ordered the Ryan of London leather case - similar to Bullstrap or Andar, but without the ugly logos those two add.

I agree I was thinking about going with a nomad case for my 14. I assume this happens with all leather cases ?
Nah. Apple uses a tanning method that ages like paint, where it chips and peels leaving dark patches of black now. This has only been for the last few years of their cases.

While some other companies do that, many don’t. Apple used to use a more appealing tanning that allowed the cases to patina gently and deepen the original shade without chipping or black patches.

Andar, Ryan of London, Nomad, and Bullstrap are some prestigious leather case brands that still patina well.

I preordered this year’s Ryan of London case since I think Nomad cases have ugly plastic sides, and Andar and Bullstrap have obvious bad logos on the cases.

back to this thread after a few years. Getting the 14 Pro Max, and I've read that the new cases after the 12 are a different material that doesn't patina, it chips off. Is this true? I have the XS Max with saddle brown right now.

True yes. Cases have been horrid for the last couple years. I’d get a third party instead.

Not sure why many leather cases still have the open bottom. Guess good and bad.

I’ve had a couple Mujjo cases in the past and they are worse than Apples current leather. Unless then have made some serious quality improvements I’d steer clear.
Not sure about their leather. But people do say they’ve improved the buttons and fit so the newest ones look better than before. For the price, I ended up preordering Ryan of London since their leather looks excellent.

Yes the material, I’m pretty excited that since umber looks even darker than saddle brown and especially that nasty golden brown lol it should blend a bit better with the dark corners if worst comes to worst I’ll have to go back to BullStrap. Mine should be arriving tomorrow
Where did you order from? For the 14 pro or 14 pro max? On their website it says pre-orders only and nothing on Amazon yet for the 14s…

Many have said they're identical to bullstrap
Ok. Think I'm doing Ryan of London. I want to order today. I like the cheaper price tag and the no logo but I also like that warranty from bullstrap. I won't use the case if I'm doing anything rough anyway though.

Very similar but Andar has a logo on the side and I don’t see one on the Ryan cases.
FWIW - you can’t tell the Bullstrap even has a logo over time. It fades away in your mind about as quick as the logo fades due to patina.

I cannot recommend Bullstrap enough. I looked hard at all the other brands and was very picky. Bullstrap won out, and 1 year later I have zero regrets. It’s an excellent leather that shows the correct type of patina.
