I am trying to switch hands and cover the whole case when I am working on the phone. Kinda works but still there are zones where it is darker and such where it is lighter.

similar happened to me but 6s+, won't use an open bottom case anymore.
You end up with a phone that is all scratched up on the bottom, but fine everywhere else lol. Plus, my pinky does not miss the days of the open bottom cases at all. It was manageable on the X, because the pinky could reach the opposite corner that was covered by the case, but with a Max phone, I would not go back.

Ended up returning the Umber leather case. Since I already have good brown leather options, but did not have a black leather case. Here is pic of my old Midnight next to the new Midnight.

Nah, not really.
Everyone’s usage and handling of their phone is so individualized that it’s silly to make blanket statements either way. If a person has experienced a dinged up bottom with an open bottom device, and that is their reason for getting a full coverage case, then that is totally reasonable. If the way you handle your phone, the bottom of your phone stays pristine with an open bottom case, also totally valid. No point in telling anyone their experience is wrong.

Did your umber have poor fit and stiff buttons? I’m thinking of taking mine back.
Buttons were fine along with fitment. It was more so the fact that I didn’t have a black leather case in my rotation. I already have too many brown options lol

I got a Apple 14 Pro leather case where the buttons were fine but there's an annoying gap between the bottom of the phone and the case right above the lightning cutout.

Don’t think color has anything to do with buttons good or bad. My umber was fine and ink sucked.
Agreed, here and there you get some with the buttons a little stiffer than others, but that is such an easy fix

Here’s my collection of newer gen Apple leather cases, just picked up Forest Green and Orange for the 14 pro.

Heres what I’ve realized (besides the fact that I like colorful leather lol). I think the darker colored leather Apple cases feel MUCH better than the lighter & brighter color cases. My new orange leather case is already feeling “sticky” and artificial, much like the red leather case for my 12 pro did.

My green case for the 14 pro feels much nicer than the orange, and the best feeling Apple leather case out of the bunch is by far the black leather.

This leads me to believe that Apple is finishing the lighter and brighter color cases with some sort of coating to protect the color or what-not. The dark green and black case feel much more supple and natural than the colorful orange and red cases. I also have a Bullstrap case for the 12 pro that feels wayyyyy softer & nicer than any of the Apple cases.

Ive had the orange case for about 2.5 weeks now and it’s definitely not as bright and vibrant as it was when new. I just picked up the Green case this weekend. Im hoping the Green case doesnt start feeling gross too. My red 12 pro case felt really gross for a few months but eventually darkened nicely and started feeling more natural, so I hope the same happens with the orange!

Anyone else notice the darker and lighter color Apple leather cases wearing out/feeling different??

How do you fix the stiff buttons? I took my phone out and pushed the buttons real hard and held them for a while but after a while they go back to being really stiff on my umber case.

That’s what I’ve done in the past push the buttons in and out without the phone in there to the point where the leather is getting stretched, but be careful because you could end tearing it as well

good thing I bought it from Amazon 😂. If it tears it’s going straight back where it came from lol.

Hey everyone! I’m wondering how to get a nice patina on this iPhone 14 pro case. Currently the edges are the only thing that’s black. It’s weird because when I scratch it, it turns brown(maybe revealing the coating underneath?) but when I rub it, it turns black. Happens with oil or with water. Does this mean the coating is actually gone from the sides?

Anyway, I’m wondering the best way to remove the coating but not have my phone just be a complete mess. Any feedback and advice welcome. I want to at least try to have a good patina first before buying a new case. They are so expensive.

I also believe it’s been about a month of use.

I’m blown away by this case. The texture and banding are just gorgeous and the smell definitely gets a strong endorsement. Just fragrant enough to get you to wanna take a sniff now and then but not enough to leave the smell on your fingers after using it.

Got mine!

Wow! What a case! The fit is superb, it was a little iffy around the bottom corners but once you force them around the corners of the phone, the do not budge.

The difference in the feel in holding and using the phone with a genuinely high quality leather over Apple’s is night and day. It feels like I’ve got a nice new 14 Pro. Where as my Ink case had developed the stickiness and wasn’t really that nice to hold.

I love the slight raises in the case around the buttons making them more flush with the case and they are really nice and clicky.

I just hope it’s okay on the pinky! Feels okay at the mo.

Pictured with my £6 eBay knockoff cherry wallet which by the way, is amazing in quality for the price!
