I received the Cosmos Blue leather case on Tuesday. Love the color! I picked up the White silicone case at the Apple Store this morning. I never thought I’d get a white case, but it will look amazing on my soon to be delivered iPhone X Silver. Can’t wait.

Why is the knife in the picture? Kinda like banana for scale?

They are a little more subdued but they're still a vibrant red at purchase, can't speak to when the patina sets in though

Sort of but more like a scale for colour. The aubergine is so dark next to the light purple case that it could be mistaken for black. That's why I put my black Spyderco next to them.

The leather case is high quality and it patinas beautifully, but the silicone case is more protective and grippy having owned both for my 6s and 7 respectively.

If it wasn't so slippery compared to the silicone case I would go with leather again, but the phone itself provides more grip without the case. Plus there are no light colors that complement the silver iPhone X. It seems that my only option is the white silicone case if I don't want a splash of color. The silver iPhone X is so clean that I want to stick to white or light gray.

See my post above. I never thought I’d ever get a white case, but the silicone white looks amazing on my silver iPhone X. It hasn’t gotten dirty, discolored or picked up any major dust or lint. Time will tell if it discolors. But after reading and watching reviews on the white silicone case, it doesn’t seem to discolor.

I had a Product Red Apple Leather case for my matte black 7 Plus. It did protect the phone when dropped, however after a few months the case looked dark, dingy and filthy. I was so ashamed to be seen with it in public. So this time with my X, I went with the Product Red Apple Silicone case. The Silicone has a much better grip as well. Very happy with it so far.

Any discoloration or huge lint build up?

Can anybody tell me which case weighs more? Silicone or Leather?
Thanks in advance

Are you sure about that? I thought the silicone case would be lighter?
The silicon is definitely lighter and less bulky than the leather by a fair margin. I have both.

In the past I’ve always gone with leather but I’m actually really torn between the two this year.
The silicon feels lovely in the hand and this year has nice contrasting buttons which are more defined than last year’s. It is also fully lined on the inside unlike the leather which is only lined on the back - the sides are bare leather which I’m concerned might end up scratching the stainless band if dirt gets caught in there.
Whilst the silicon feels great initially and is super grippy, after a period of prolonged use it becomes slightly slippy in the hand - it feels like it’s constantly sliding out my hand, whereas the leather feels warmer and grippier the more it is used.
In terms of lint neither case is great initially but after a period of break in they’re both fine.
[doublepost=1510651318][/doublepost]Oh and the other plus to the silicon - this year the contrasting Apple logo is under the surface of the case and perfectly flat vs last year where it looked and felt like a stick on afterthought.

I went for silicone for mine, because at work I tend to take the case off...leather is a bit trickier to keep removing/putting back on. G/f is going for a leather portfolio case when her handset arrives, the Berry one.

Leather all the way. I've had Apple silicone cases before and that smooth out-of-the-box finish does not last. They wear down way too fast, and are prone to cracking.

Though, even with the leather I think some colours are better than others. The plain black one I had on my 7 Plus held up really well after a year and looked great, so I happily got the same for my X. On the other hand, the lighter colours start looking rough quite fast.

Everything's right except the fact that the silicone case is lighter than the leather case.
I ordered both and weighed them:

Silicone Case for iPhone X: 23,5 grams
Leather Case for iPhone X: 20 grams

But still undecided...

Curious. I'd not weighed them individually, but I'd probably stand by my point that the silicon certainly at least "feels" lighter - probably in part due to the slightly reduced bulk over the leather.

I'm leaning more toward the silicon right now. It feels like with the changes/enhancements this year it might be the one for me. Plus given it is cheaper, its less of an issue to replace easily if it gets damaged than the leather...

I get your point, but I thought it would be more grippy than the leather case, don't know if that's the case actually. For me it just doesn't feel right to pay €45 for plastic when I can get a good leather product for €59. Still, the silicone case has its advantages - as you've already pointed out.
