Even though I have a black leather case arriving 11/1, I decided to splurge and get the brown leather as well just now. It will give me a backup, as well as being able to swap out when it strikes me.

Leather or Silicone Official Apple case?

I'm getting my brown leather sooner than I expected. I thought I was going to get it next week. Now I'll have three cases by the time I get my X Friday.
Hmm…my glass-half-full side's telling me that it'll encourage people to dust/vacuum their environment more often.
my red silicone and dark aubergine leather covers were supposed to be delivered today, but because there was no company name in the shipping address (though the address, suite number, and phone number were all there and correct), FedEx exempted it and failed to deliver. Fortunately I don't need them until Friday and they'll probably be delivered tomorrow, but I'm freaking out that they'll do the same thing with the iPhone on Friday. I chatted with Apple reps twice who said that they added the company name to the ship to address to avoid that happening on Friday, but of course I won't see that until 24 hours they say. I'm going to be pissed if FedEx causes a delay - and as I commented to FedEx, I have their carriers come into my office so often to ask for help finding a person when there's no company name on the package. Nothing like a little extra anxiety before Friday...
I'm still torn! This thread isn't helping, lol.
I'm leaning toward the silicone, but it seems like there could be a nice lint issue....
In terms of the leather, it seems like it requires more care if you wanted to clean it (or if something like it getting wet)
I'm probably going with trusty standby spigen........although I'm sure I'll just do an impulse buy in the store. Really liking the blue.

I just used "Hat Saver" (safe for leather) on my brand new Apple leather iPhone X cases. It repels water and helps to prevent salt stains due to sweat. I use it on my ball caps and it works great. Glad I remembered I had it. Give it another application every 3 months or so, and it should be fine. Can also be found on Ebay and Amazon.

I looked at the two cases after application and you can't tell anything was applied to the leather. Took about 15 mins to dry.
I got my dark aubergine case today and it is just as beautiful in person.

just shattered my 7+ face first drop on cement 3 feet, with the saddle brown
destroyed the top of the saddle brown case too it shredded
is silicone more protective by a lot in this case?
I HAVE NEVER SHATTERED AN IPHONE UNTIL TODAY. On 10.1 Jailbroken now I dont even know what to do with it (replace screen, sell it shattered on stock, or just keep it in a drawer)
I have a not shattered SE im going to use between now and Friday but
I think I need a more robust X case, those X repair prices aren't cheap

what would u do too? wait and see if I like X enough to be a daily driver before committing to any replacement
or sell the thing for a loss and be done with it? (I just put it in the silicone case for pic, it shattered in leather case, ughhh so bummed but the timing could always be way worse)

I use this to pre-treat the case before I use it.

I’m really interested in getting a silicon case from Apple for my iPhone X, but the only thing that concerns me is that Apple’s cases do not have a bottom lip so I’m worried that the bottom may get very scratched since it’s stainless steel which scratches easily. Does anyone else have this concern, or is it just me?
I've always felt that way. I've always an official case, but the exposed bottom irked me too much, lol. I feel now that there's no longer a headphone jack, they could just close it up, lol.
But a lot of people have said that the bottom of the phones are fine.....so I guess it's just something that you have to accept if you go will an official case.
This year may be the first year I go with one. My choice of case is usually spigen, & I've been happy with them, so worst case I'll switch if I notice anything wrong with the bottom.
Yes, I’ve had an Apple leather case for my iPhone 7+ and it’s been great. I wasn’t worried about the bottom scratching since it was an aluminum alloy, but I do worry about the iPhone X scratching since stainless steel is much softer when it comes to scratches. I think I’ll try it out anyways and if I notice anything I’ll just get a different case.

That's some serious bad luck. I don't think i've read many reports of that happening.

Yeah it really sucks but I'll probably get the screen replaced eventually and keep 7+ regardless. But gnarly
And luckily it happened before I made my x a daily driver with the leather
The otterbox is calling my name on apple.com
And at least once I put a tempered protector on it I can throw it around worry free. The screen is already busted up
Forgot about that stainless steel casing! I’m steel leaning toward an official case. Maybe the open bottom may be helpful now with the swiping vs Touch ID.
Anyone have a stainless steel Apple watch & if so, how noticeable are the scratches? (I have a an aluminum sport)
I had my 7+ in a pad & Quill wallet case AND a screen protector and still shattered the screen one time. I was sitting in a folding chair on my driveway and had it sitting on my lap. Dog came and jumped on my lap, knocking the phone off and the case flipped OPEN and the phone landed perfectly on its face on concrete from maybe 18" off the ground. Stuff happens no matter how much we protect them.
Pray for my 7+ doesn't need a restore from 10.1

Love it, the purple leather one looks lighter than the website, now I want to order that one too.
