Leather or Silicone Official Apple case?

Just a cautionary word of advice. Test out the buttons on the leather case before leaving the Apple store. I did this and found my buttons had a defect and wouldn’t work. Switched and the next one was perfect.
The dude said it’s not an uncommon occurrence.

In my experience the silicone cases aren't as durable. I've had the Apple leather on my 6 Plus for years, and it's very hard-wearing. Went for the saddle brown for my X for a more rustic look. I do like that Silicone comes in white though; wish they would do yellow or orange for either of those.

If you're near an apple store maybe you could try picking up one in store. I'm not sure, but I think best buy has them as well.
I was going to order a case online, but still debating, so I'm going to try & pick one up in store.

I’m wondering how the Cosmos Blue will patina as well. I had the Midnight Blue leather case and it got really dark, almost black looking. It wasn’t to my liking.

Cosmos Blue delivers in 2 days from my local store (Bromley, UK).
I called Apple and rep said they should be updating online and Store inventory this week. I’ll wait to place order, hoping there is Store inventory for pick up for this Fri, Sat or Sun. If not then I’ll just order online.
This may have been discussed already but the biggest difference for me between the leather and silicone is the thickness. The silicone feels much thicker. Also the leather is more slippery at first but after it wears in it becomes soft and grippy.
On apples online store, it said the belkin will be in store Nov. 1st

I replaced a Spigen Ultra Hybrid with the silicon case and at first the exposed bottom concerned me, but WOW is it comfy to use! Not only is it smaller and easier to hold, but the back doesn't have that strange greasy feel...but most importantly...NO NUMB PINKY! That damn Spigen straight violated my littlest finger in the worst way.
But...
The lint is maddening.

Its ****. I had it on my iPad Air. Aged it only looks dirty. Never gets a patina.
Since then I had 2 generations of saddle brown which ages beautifully.
I got the red leather. Can someone confirm if the new red is darker than the older version? I had the red leather for the 7 plus but I read on here somewhere that the new red cases are not as bright.
Why is the knife in the picture? Kinda like banana for scale?Sure, the online photos don’t do it justice.
It’s not an easy colour to photograph which doesn’t help much either.

They are a little more subdued but they're still a vibrant red at purchase, can't speak to when the patina sets in though

I do not, but I can definitely feel the uneven grit on my hands when holding it. It's not really lint, but specs of dust, etc when putting the phone down...like in the car, etc.
