Today he's an obnoxious tool who has apparently decided that a time of sharp economic downturn is a good time to try to force people to spend what little money they have on a vision he shares with few more than his cult of followers.

How is Steve Jobs forcing anyone to buy Apple products? Is he going around threatening to shoot peoples' dog if they don't buy an iPhone?

That's exactly what happened to me....except exchange dog for 2 year old son. It was quite a traumatic experience.

That is my big question. The iPhone beat out the smartphone competition because the battery lasts all day under pretty heavy use. Nobody else could do that at the time-- and, apparently, still can't?

Hmmm, I've never had an iPhone last all day under heavy use. I have a charger at work and at home. I charge it completely at work before I head home. Have a 1 1/2 hour commute on mass transit home, and by 9pm have to recharge again. I've had a 1G and 3G iPhone.

Crap! You just reminded me I needed to charge mine or face the inevitable Friday night fighting a dead iPhone drama. :p

You do realize that Apple was going down the tubes until they brought Steve back and that they now have the 3rd largest market capitalization of any company in the US, right?!?!?

You may have a quibble with some of his decisions, but Steve Jobs has been nothing short of the best CEO in the country since his return to Apple.

And, Apple isn't the only company he has lead to greatness: Pixar.

Agreed. Steve Jobs saved Apple. He also helped change the MP3 world and the cell phone world.
