Why can't more NBA players have this kind of maturity. Well done K. Durant.

Not many young players would say this:

I can see OKC going far. Almost gave my Lakers a run for their money this past playoffs. I'm still putting them as a dark horse in the Western Conference this season.

Yet you happily took Artest.:D

That hasn't turn out too badly so far.

Well, if he needs a big televised announcement to explain where he's going, it certainly won't be Cleveland.

And if he were going back to Cleveland, presumably he would be announcing it in Cleveland or Akron, not near NYC. Then again, it's hard to figure out what he's doing at this point.

given the latest moves from miami to create more cap space (bosh S&T) and from ny for the plan B (Lee S&T), looks like LeBron to Miami is a done deal. i have to say i am surprised that Lebron would accept not to be 'the man'

too bad if he goes there, i would have liked to watch him in NYC (still thinking he might join the knicks, though).

in any case, if the "huge three" happens in Miami, i don't think they'll take much time to adjust. the celtics' big three worked right away, and these are way, waaay better.

regardless, it will be an interesting season.

I still have a sneaking suspicion that he goes to the Nets.

Here's my final judgement on the subject. Assuming he leaves, LeBron will

  1. Earn less money
  2. Always have one less ring than Wade
  3. Break a weak city's heart on national TV
  4. Diminish the LBJ brand by joining other superstars
  5. Turn his back on his hometown

Hasta, Lebron.

yep, that's why i thought NY would be the obvious choice (other than staying in cleveland).
Of course the last Mia rumors could be just smokescreen to max the effect of the final twist.

a very enjoyable piece on the subject, by Bill Simmons

So Steven A Smith who broke the story about Lebron going to the Heat thinks it will be a 5 year deal with an opt out in 3. Then the thought is that Lebron goes to one of the NY teams.

On the bright side Cleveland fans, now you don't have to worry about planning a victory parade.

let's see where the other dominoes fall.
the worst off appear to be the nets.

miami an instant contender, no matter who they get to fill the roster.
The Nets will be fine, their owner will have the other teams "taken care of".

Miami better hope none of the "Big Three" get hurt.

You can't afford a good bench committing this kind of money to three guy's.

I wonder how many other teams take the Celtics big 3 model.

not that many 'bigs' around.

and Celtics took three great players in their descending years, while Miami has two superstars and a great players in their prime. they could dominate for years if they get an half-decent cast, and i am sure many good players will accept a reduced salary to play with them.
plus they just need to use picks for solid role players, no need to look for 'potential'

The criticism is unbelievable.
LeBron made the BEST decision to WIN a championship.
Cleveland wasn't doing anything to provide him the roster to help him win a championship.
If he stayed in Cleveland, YES it would be sweeter to win a championship but it was NEVER going to happen. He was giving ALL of his ability to get somewhere. If he had not won anything by age 30 in Cleveland, there was not going to be any championship in his life unless what just happened a TRIO.

So Cleveland, loss-loss situation for you anyways. Don't get violent, don't hate but appreciate LeBron for the memories of 7 great years.

Don't forget that the only way Cleveland got Lebron in the first place was by winning the draft.

That's weak. LeBron gave Cleveland 7 years where he played his heart out for his city and his team. He made the best decision for himself and his family and it wasn't about the money because he could have made more if he had stayed. True fans from Cleveland will understand and support his decision even though they are disappointed he is leaving, fake ass fans won't.

I agree that it's silly to criticize him for leaving Cleveland. He did his best for 7 years. They didn't surround him with the guys he needed to win. Was he supposed to toil away his whole career there without any rings out of loyalty?

BUT I think he would have had a great chance to win in Chicago too, maybe better than Miami. Rose, Noah, and Boozer would have been exactly the supporting cast he needed, but it still would have been his team. Now he's going to Miami to join Wade's team. I think his friendship with Wade and Bosh, not a better chance to win, is what drove picking Miami over Chicago.
